  • I dug my old bike out of the corner of the shop, it's a 1994 GT Performer that I got for my 11th birthday. It has be buried for at least 20 years, I decided it was time to give it some love and restore it. It turned out AWESOME!!!!

    ‘94 blue spatter…my first GT was exactly like that, sadly I repainted it and traded it in ‘96 for another bike…never to be seen again.
    I’m in the process of restoring a 97 green spatter performer, I’d prefer your year for nostalgia purposes…the spatter performers are my favourites.
    That paint turned out nice, I appreciate the original bars but c’mon man…those are peregrines!!!

    • @DonkeyKiller
      @DonkeyKiller ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got it finished up. When pedaling, the chain gets tight and then loose as the crank turns. Would this be from the chain wheel not being centered properly or from a bent rear axle? If it is the Axle causing it, any ideas on where I can pick up a replacement one?

    Wow..not a bad restore. You made good choices considering you are actually going to ride it again. If you went full resto and let it live on the wall just to look at would've been painful. Glad you went this route to enjoy some of those good times again. Wish I still had my 93 Dyno Compe. The Chrome with yellow and black decals and GT Compact disc 43t sprocket. A 13yr olds dream bike.

    Love the build bro! I just restored my chrome Redline that I have had since early 2000’s. I cleaned and polished the frame and other chrome parts and added new chain, chainring and bearings to go with the shorter cranks to go a little easier on my old knees (I’m of a similar vintage as you 😂). I found some cheap RL-20 stickers that are not correct for the model but I added a new set of black Tuff II’s with red wall 1.95 tires and an old school Velo seat with a few touches of red to complete the transformation. It looks like HotWheels made it now and I get tons of looks and compliments on it riding the bike trails in my neighborhood. Long live Reaper Crew!

    Really enjoyed the video, great job on the paintwork and chrome. I think putting the original bars was the right choice! The seat posts bend easy, my old GT 88' seat post was the same.
    Up too hight to pull seated wheelies was probably the cause ;) The reprop Power series cranks finished it off really well. I was able to rebuild my original from new 88 PFST team back in 2015.
    Its great to have these great machine of your youth. Enjoy the rides!
