Turned out nice, the black six spoke over the white was a good call, it's always good to see guys like Eddie and Martin still getting RAD some of todays riders can still learn a few things from them. Nice move getting Eddie to autograph the bike.
This is an awesome bike and a great vid too! I’m a sucker for ‘87 PPs and PFTs and the story behind this find/restoration build was amazing. I’m glad you went with the 6-spoke black Mags, black on chrome is something I’ve been dreaming of too, in that iconic EF fashion with black pretzel bars. Anyhow, was really glad to see this and having Eddie in the end was the icing on the cake! Keep it up!
A few of Old Buddy's had GT's Performer's and The Pro edition.I had Mongoose Expert. But I've always had an appreciation and admiration for The GT Brand.Excellent Build.Awesome remix on The Bike.80's vibe all the way.😎👍🏾
In 1986 my best friend got a chrome GT pro performer, and I got a Haro Group 1 RS2 in blue/white/chrome. We put thousands of miles on those bikes. I think his dad sold his. I kept that frame for 20 years and rebuilt it with modern parts for my son. I had it powder coated fire engine red and put on all black parts from Dan's comp. He rode it to school for a month before it was stolen. He was in Jr high. He's now been in the Air Force 4 years and I still look for that bike lol.
Killer build, BTW. It was really cool to see Eddie. I still have magazine clippings of him. The one with him hiding the frame from the camera, and one of him washing his Porsche!
Its cool to see middle age guys like myself still ripping on BMX. I used to be really into it in the 80s and 90s but then moved on to mountain bikes. Tried to get back into it about10 years ago but I could not get past how tiny they felt. That's the problem of taking a really long break and switching to a much bigger frame. Now I'm riding a 29er and it just feels so good. Sometimes I still think about picking up a BMX , still like them.
Man I miss those. I had a white dyno performer I bought in '87 then left later that year in the military and my mom sold it with a lot more of my stuff in a yard sale while I was in bootcamp. Now I am 55 and have young grandkids that are learning to ride, would love to have another 80's performer to relive some old memories while making new ones cruising around with my grandkids. I have found a couple but rediculously expensive.
@@RadBMXBuilds I might end up just getting one of new ones, much more affordable but not as cool as the old design. Was just checking out the GT 24 and 26 since I am broken up and don't race or do freestyle riding anymore it would be just for cruising around campgrounds and parks with the grandkids.
Massive respect for that vlog sir...bike is amazing....proper old school...shame you didn't get a set of beartrap peddles....that would have finished it.....awesome job 😊😊😊
Black was the better choice for your build. Very nice Performer. I found my 1986 Performer in a pile of trash, from an eviction, just down the street from my house. The front wheel was missing and the bike was in bad shape. I took the bike home and returned it to it's former glory (imo). I just couldn't let that Performer end up in the landfill.
Thats a clean BMX Bike man brings back memories.......i use to have the same Style bike but a Chrome Dyno Detoure..... Odyssey everything .....same Black Mags ...i loved that Bike
I need one of ur pad sets for my new gt slammer.. sumn with purple in it..it’s an all white with purple hardware.. and once again amazing job my friend 😍👍🏽😎!!
Awesome work keep bringing them 80's bmx bikes back to life, new bikes are boring and the seats are to low, looks like a fun day riding with Eddie and Martin they seem like cool guys, love the gt performer and the videos 👍
Sean that gt is absolutely stunning!!!! Excellent work we’ve got another gt back up and riding!!! I’m with you on the black skyways with the chrome looks absolutely amazing and she’s a survivor love it!! Ride on brother!!! Stay RAD 🤟🏻🏴
Man, absolutely beautiful- very hard to critique- but if it were me- i also would have wanted black slant 6 spoke skyway mag wheels- however in my heart this original chrome beauty………. I would have searched for a set of the original slant six spoke skyway mags that came on the same bike except it was black- im just not a fan of the repop mags with the single ridge in the center of the mag- the origionals had the the 2 raised riges on the outer most edge of all the 6 spokes-and i say this with very much respect to you, sir- it is beautiful!! But i always wanted that bike as a kid and never got it. By brother had the all black same year same stickers pink fork standers- same bike- i used to have dreams about that thing!! But those old rims were in my opinion a MAJOR part of a performer and a necessary component as important as the frame snd fork for that spacific bik
Wow what a mixed up color scheme that bike had before glad to see you matched all the colors up. Black mags and tires to match the black seat, brake levers and sprocket looks hella better!
My opinion, the white looks way better. The sticker, the chain the grips being pink was kind of dope. I would’ve made the chain ring, brakes, clamp, and seat white. I never looked black and chrome. Although I did love hutch bikes and had one. on this looks more cohesive, except for the pink foot stands.
I always loved bikes that had a mish-mash of parts - Odyssey brakes... etc etc. Mine was certainly a Frankenstein. Is the stem correct? Buddy had I thought was an 87, with the front clamping big black GT block. and 40's 50's guys freestyling... awesome.
I see you are using the GT-LP tires on the Skyway magwheels. Are these tires optimal for proper seating/minimum wobble on magwheels? Ive been trying Panaracers on Skyway Tuffs, despite repeated attempts using soapy water, massaging the tire, gradual inflation, its still not seating evenly around. When I ride on smooth road at 12-15mph, I feel the slight wobble. What tires do you think work best on Skyway Tuffs? Its embarassing to invest nearly $2k and still have wobbly tires. The Chrome frame/black mags look awesome by the way.
Great build, I also think the black wheels and tires were the way to go! Mostly perfect but I miss the pink chain! And is that the correct original stem? I thought the 87 Performer had the GT Mallet? And shouldn't both brake calipers originally be Die Compe? Thanks!
Wht. OGK's were a set I've always loved( (never had a set) had All the other Mag's out there. Everyone else used the Tuff 2's maybe Peregrine wht. or blk's until I got a set of HP48's Super Pro's
@@RadBMXBuilds So the GT mags were not original? I had a chromed WT with this wheels....it was a dream...it has been stolen later :/ Had a yellow Pro Performer with blue Tuff wheels before too....stolen as well
Sean one quick one mate that stand youv got for your gt…..where did you get it?? I can’t find one like that I need one in my life!! If you could guide me towards one I’d be very grateful! 🏴🤟🏻

I bet Eddie had to hold back a tear,,, im telling ya if you get one if his coke cans, I bet some fool on bmx museum would give you a hundie. for it! Jyst kidding hehe
ok, maybe you're the guy to ask. i've asked in other groups but never get an answer. year was 85, maybe 86. i bought a gt pro performer, chrome with white mags. unfortunately was stolen. anyway, my question......was there ever a gt pro performer II ? i swear mine said pro performer II. 35 odd years ago so i could easily be wrong, but please put this question to rest for me.lol
Got one on my 13th birthday 87 lived on it , those were the days

The black wheels were definitely the way to go!

I have 2 chrome 1987 gt performers myself. I love your bike.
Sweet bike Sean!! Salute to Eddie Fiola! 🫡
Thanks Ramon
Restoration on bike is awesome. Wish I had the bike.
Great job on switching out the white wheels and tires! I love ❤️ it! Video was awesome too. Great to see both Eddie and Martin riding together 😎👍
Thank you
Rad part2 movie….? I wish!!
Black all the way.
You did some job!! Definitely the black skyways did the trick!!

Even when the OGK's were brand new they still don't look as good as the black wheels against the chrome. Nice looking build!
Agreed. Thank you
The black wheels was a crucial call.
You could try blue-walled or even pink tires on the 5-spolks. Might blend nice with the decals.

Thanks for the visit
Good job man. Can't find those 6 spoke

I sold this bike a year ago

I would have dyed the og OGKs black
Have you ever actually done that?
@RadBMXBuilds yeah you have to have a bigger enough pot to boil the wheels and have to do it twice you can also brush on the dye n let sit 12 hrs
Not a big fan of the black rims & tires, it doesn't quite look as clean & smooth but there was a lot of great work done to it.. She's a beauty
