I am in Northern Ca and after about 4-5 days in a row of 100 degree temps they did need water morning and evening. Instead I started watering in the morning and putting up an umbrella for the rest of the day. After more experience I would think they can handle a ton of sun but 100+ really does ware on them.
Good plant. I dump a few bags of grass clippings under my fully grown ones. It seems to help with the extra watering and they seem to really like the extra nitrogen. I don't put any chemicals in my lawn. You might not want to do it if you do. - Also that variety of dwarf Gardenia is a little fussy to me. They tend to yellow and drop leaves when they get stressed over too much, or too little water.

I’ve been wanting to extend my front garden beds this spring, and I’ve been stalking proven winners website looking at all of the beautiful hydrangeas. I am in New Orleans, zone 9A (I guess it’s B now) and I noticed that 90% of PW’s hydrangeas only go to zone 8. And unfortunately, I’m not interested in any of the hydrangeas that extend to zone 9. All of the incrediball or invincibelle hydrangeas that I love, I completely counted out because I figured they’re beautiful white blooms would just burn in our southern heat. But then I was looking on a website and I noticed another retailer selling the incrediball hydrangea and they listed it going to zone 9. So then I started thinking, maybe there’s a gray area here. I’m so happy to have found someone that is also in zone nine who is having good luck with the incrediball, with thriving plants! I think I might give it a try in my front garden beds that get full sun, but it’s morning sun so I think I might be ok. I didn’t know that PW suggested to use Rose fertilizer on their hydrangeas and I also didn’t realize that I could just add some soil acidifier to the soil to help with the yellowing of the blooms. I’ve always used one of the acidic tones (azalea tone or holly tone) on my hydrangeas, but I will definitely have to try the soil acidifier from espoma. And great tip on the heavy mulch. You would think these are all basic things any gardener should know about, but for whatever reason, it never occurred to me to do these things, lol! Anyway, really enjoyed your video! Mine are in full sun until about 1pm. I have a dripper on them every single morning that the temps are above 95. I also feed them once per month and I think that helps them. They still flop after a few weeks or so. Next year I am going to try a tomato cage on them and see if that keeps them standing stronger. Stay tuned and good luck with yours 😊

If you give it a morning and afternoon drink it make be okay, but def keep it well watered twice a day in the hot summer months. Also, I would plant them a bit closer then the tag says. I wish I had planted mine a bit closer.

Hey Crystal....mine are beginning to turn more of a lime color as well. I believe that they are actually beginning to turn from white, to a greenish color and then to a brown where you will then snip them off (or leave on) - your preference. Mine bloomed in May, so I did get to enjoy the flowers most of may and whatever life they have left in June. I am thinking about under planting mine with some asters so that later in the year I can have another flush of color to enjoy mixed in with the large dark green leaves. Just a thought! :0)
Hey Susan….if they get some decent sun in the morning then they would be awesome along a house. If they are full full shade then you may be better off with your traditional bigleaf varieties which is a Hydrangea macrophylla. I planted two in full shade and they bloomed beautifully last year. The new ones like incrediball and Annabelle want more sun. I’m in CA any they like the morning and early afternoon sun but the evening seems to be a little much. If you’re in an area that it doesn’t get hotter than 80-85 then you can give them all day sun. Hope that helps 😊
Here they need to be cut to the ground in spring and will regrow quickly from that point to June. Due to the changes in season (cold/hot) I would guess that these may not work for you 😭 but….there’s only one way to find out 😀
Most hydrangeas are going to drop all of their leaves in fall/winter. Maybe that’s what’s going on? My incrediball looks pretty ratty right now. In spring after my last frost date I plan to cut mine to the ground and it will spring back. If that isn’t your problem then what does it look like?
I can only speak of my own experience, but I would think they'd do much better with some sun. The colder the climate the more sun. Here in CA these get morning and afternoon sun until about 2pm and then the rest of the day they are on filtered sunlight. Hope this helps!

I placed them on self watering that helps. Mine are on year three. I’ve noticed they have a smell which is very enjoyable actually.

That's normal for this plant. You can cut it back for another flush of white flowers late in the summer.

How many hours of sun does your incrediballhydrangea get and what time of day?
8am until about 1:00-1:30. So, about 4-5 hours. Happy 4th 😊
Can those varieties grow in places with no winter. We only have the purple and blue in southeast asia. Those varieties are from seeds
