    If you have clay soil, adding Gypsum powder and using a pitchfork, will help break down the clay.
    I used this approach for a massive fishtail fern.
    The soil was rubbish, pure clay.....so I used Gypsum and compost, left it for 2 months, then dug a larger hole, added a bag or 2 of garden mix and today its just thriving.
    Ive since added some clivias, bromeliads and mini lomandra grasses.
    And a kowhai tree from seed.
    It's a dry shade based garden and different from the other parts of my garden.
    Jo.😊

    About the Zinfin Doll, I have a few. I read that they were discontinued because of complaints.that they burned easy and, that the stems didnt hold up. Ive not particularly cared for them until... maybe NOW. Its Almost june and will be my 3rd (LEAP!) year with them and without having bloomed yet, I already noticed a HUGE difference in their vigor, size, and habit. I CANT WAIT to see them THIS year! I suppose, many people dont hold their fire through that sleep, creep, leap wait, esp when some plants may be stellar during their "creep years". If i was asked my opinion a year ago, Id give them a fair/poor review and voice my regret not getting a Vanilla Strawberry instead, but after seeing my little hedge this year, confirmed by your early experience with them, we may realize we are EXTREMELY FORTUNATE to have grabbed these gems while they were available!!! 😁😁😁😁

    I live in zone 8B in a high desert. This is my first year with the fairytale bride and it’s extremely fussy about what spot it likes to be in. I tried morning sun only and it dropped its flowers. I tried late day sun which made it dry out. Currently, I am have it under dappled light which seems to be the most promising.

    LOVE your gorgeous panicle hydrangeas! I also love Zinfin Doll (and have one in my garden), but sadly that hydrangea has been discontinued, so unless someone can find a specimen that is still filtering through retail, you won't find one. A good panicle replacement would be the Little Lime Punch or even Quick Fire Fab.

I have an incrediball hedge too and they are 3 years old and flopped badly due to heavy rains. Hi Matthew, I have a limelight hydrangeas in the ground in its third year. When I bought them, the blooms were pinkish but last year in its second year, the blooms were beautiful but they didn’t turn pink as they aged, they just turned brown, do you know why? I’m in zone 7 NJ. The plants get full sun. Thanks.

    • @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden
      @TheSouthernersNorthernGarden  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s pretty common until they get established root systems as the panicles tend to dry out more when they’re younger. In hotter zones they may not tend to turn as pink, but yours likely will. Just need some more years to be better established.

    I planted my little 2 gal Invincibelle Spirit II in 2021 facing directly south. It did amazing in 2022 as by early June it was on drip. It's about 4' tall and wide and very full this year - I cut it back by about a third and should probably have cut more off. It's in full bloom now. I'm close to your zone near Niagara Falls, Canada so I think lots of sun and regular watering is the trick. Can you leave it for another year and see what happens?

The plant is fine with the exception that every now end then a branch or a few and fall. It seems that by now that issue stopped ….. is there something am doing wrong? I experience that my incrediballs get leggy ….. does that mean that am watering too much ?
