What I'm saying in the video is grab a cheap small pocketable Linux based device for transport in your pocket for like 50 bucks or less like a miyoo mini + or the rg35xxsp...that will let you play the classics..and grab an Rog Ally for sub 400 used in good condition for actual gaming when size and portability don't matter . that to me is a very good setup.
Don't think the ROG Ally is the same Target Audience that Retroid is going for.... Ally is no where near the travel size of any Retroid or Anbernic device, and is also 3 times price!
Seriously. I've already got a steam deck. I'm not buying anything else unless it's both powerful enough for ps2/gc/wii, and also very pocketable. The rp mini is the first thing we've had so far that fits the bill.
@salvesenm there are more than one ways to look at it. Maybe you're missing the point? I think he's saying you can play all the retro games and also pc for just 200 more buying a used rog ally at this point. I mean who even plays android games? Android is obviously emulation device. Rog ally will emulate better, has a 7 inch screen, and is cheap af. It makes sense to grab one now.
@@God-m5s absolutely and if you want AAA games then a SD is definitely the best value. There are a lot of people that just want retro. In that view an RP5 is a great value. I’d still get an Odin 2 over it but it’s not over priced and well worth it for tons of people.
Thanks for sharing, of the small handhelds i have almost all of the ones you showed except the RG Arc and the V10. Instead of the ROG Ally, i have a Steamdeck OLED. These large devices are awesome but i dont see myself traveling with these. And so now that i have quite the collection I am looking for a compact one and done scenario. I was leaning on getting the Odin 2 mini, but may try the Odin 2 pro since they have similar components just a size difference. After that i expect to reduce my collection, but overall these a good choices depending on someones budget and use cases.
Nothing can really beat the Odin 2 with Steam Deck combination, if you are playing at home. Messing with Windows to emulate all the consoles is a real headache, unless you enjoy that.
I personally adore the R36S and own four of em 😅 the rg35xxsp is going to become my favorite once I set up my sd card PS Vita also the OG greatest of all time
@thatguy00271 r36s triggers are clicks Clacky af..feel very cheap..the buttons feel horrible and mushy..the d pad feels stiff..that's my take. I just feel like other options in a similar form factor blow it out.
Dude I came here for the comparison then I heard you talk about the DNA Duo! Great review btw, hard to compare Windows VS Android though however I said my peace about the RP5 myself.
@DNAMobileGaming Wow..Thanks for stopping in and watching my video! I love your channel and it inspired me to just jump into making content and not wait any longer. I'm still figuring it all out. The DNA DUO is high on my list of things to get for sure! I agree..Android and Windows gaming are def different..and now Linux is becoming possible on what were android devices..very interesting indeed. From a pure value perspective I think ROG ALLY is the best Value next to Odin 2 however. It's just everyone has said grab an Odin 2 instead of a retroid, which, I agree with as the price isnt that much more but even though android emulation development has capped a little its still just so much more powerful is actually rediculous. .however, I wanted to present a different option. The rog ally's 7 inch screen and windows on the go is a game changer tho. What an age we live in. What u can have on the go for sub 400 dollars is just ridiculous!
I was seriously debating on getting an RP4Pro or an Odin 2 Mini before the RPMini & RP5 were announced because I wanted a handheld smaller than my Steam Deck and smaller than a regular sized Odin 2 (I don't have any Odin device just to be clear) but is bigger than my Anbernic & Miyoo devices that can play GC & PS2 well. I was excited about the RP5 at first until the specs were revealed. I don't like glass fronts at all but the AMOLED screen is nice. But once they bumped the RAM back up to 8 GB, I decided to pull the trigger on the RP5 early bird price, got the GC colorway. If the reviews for this thing turn out bad (they'll be out before the RP5 gets shipped out at the end of October hopefully), I'll just cancel my order and save up for an Odin 2 Mini instead (I really want the white color but AYN only offers it on the pro model. Should've been available for both the base and pro models. $60 more for a color option, 4 more GB RAM & 128 more GB internal storage is a bit steep). Don't know if Retroid will ever discount the RP4Pro once the RPMini & RP5 start selling at retail price (which I highly doubt since they normally don't do that) but if they ever do, maybe I would get that instead of the Odin 2 Mini
@orakaa I wish it had a bit more power..I mean it really can't run saturn games..that is a misfire. I'm kinds hoping for a second iteration of it with more power.
@@TheNintenja Saturn requires a lot of power unfortunately, as its emulation isn't optimized (even on my PC, which runs PS3 and PC games, it isn't perfect). It doesn't really bother me though, as there's only a handful of games which were exclusive to the Saturn (most of the games of that era were also on PSOne).
I wouldn't buy the full sized retroid 5, but the mini is a different situation. It's the smallest thing we've had so far that can do all your ps2/gc/wii needs. Simply nothing compares. Any other device you're either giving up a lot of power, or you're adding too much size. Even the Odin 2 "mini" is bigger than the RP4 line. And rpmini is 4:3! No wasted space!
Love my 35xxSP. The miyoo mini (not+) has the best non oled screen. But i take my Miyoo A30 with me more so because i find it more comfortable than the SP. Good vid though.
I'm gonna sell my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, since I'm getting an Odin 2 Mini. The size difference is very minor with the Odin being slightly wider in a couple ways (3mm thicker and like 5mm wider), but more importantly I just want future proofing and the ergonomics of a rounded device at this point.
