      I hope the Mini isn't a fling 😅 I should have known you started making the buttons quieter haha, I wish I could put the 4's black coloured buttons in but tbh the sound isn't annoying me like the SP did. I can definitely see myself using the mini as a daily device for a lot of GBA and SNES RPGs, it's perfect for that stuff but I'll have to see how I feel after I have the rp5 in my hands.

      @@AishTalksTechMe neither lol. I think the RP2S buttons are even a little loud(and the ones on the Mini seem to be worse). But swapping the Sakura RM playstation buttons in quieted them a little bit on the RP2S. I'm probably gonna put those in the RP5 as well if they'll work cause they are easier/more comfy to roll between.
      What'd you do to your RP Mini to modify/quiet those buttons?

    For those dealing with bad frame pacing on Dolphin, it's because the device currently seems to have some kind of bug that has Vsync OFF on Android. I made a video on my channel that shows how to set Vsync to On for each game individually, since Dolphin doesn't have a Vsync toggle. Hope it helps everyone until an OTA update comes out to fix this issue! (Also applies to ASX2 and Duckstation, but those have their own Vsync/Sync to Host Refresh Rate toggles)

    • @ProphitDesigns
      @ProphitDesigns 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

      It's actually a bug with older android versions. I've been dealing with this since I've owned the Retroid Pocket 3+ on android 11. The mini runs on 10 I believe.
      It's nice to see someone else mentioning this issue and the same solution. I racked my brain on this issue for months and it really bothered me that NO ONE mentioned the terrible frame pacing on any Retroids running older versions of Android.
      Later android versions like 13 and 14 don't have this vsync issue which is why the RP4P and the coming RP5 will be good without this pacing issue.
      I think this issue with the Mini should be talked about more.

    • @3godzilla3
      @3godzilla3 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@ProphitDesigns Oh wow, so it's dependent on the Android version itself? Here I was thinking maybe Retroid just messed up somewhere, but it's a bug of the android version itself? Interesting. Hopefully the 13 update should fix that then! Glad to see I'm not the only one talking about it!! (:

    It really is a great looking little device. I would choose the mini over the 5 any day of the week. I never really understood why manufacturers always seem to go for a 16:9 screen when 90% of what you will play on it is made for a 4:3 screen. I would even take 3:2 over 16:9. The screen on this looks amazing, I do wish it was 4inches though.

    • @dokferr
      @dokferr 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @christophergarcia6064 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      I prefer 4:3, but my eyes are getting too old so I had to go with the 5 for the bigger screen. At least it'll also make NDS and 3DS games better to play, being able to keep both screens visible at all times.

    • @dayla8634
      @dayla8634 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      16:9 screens can handle more consoles. PSP and Nintendo handhelds fit better. A lot of games from SNES and up have widescreen hacks. The RP5 is just 1mm taller and about 1mm thinner with a wider body. With the 5.5" screen. It will play 4:3 a little bigger than the mini. I really wanted to get the mini, but playing psp sucks on a 3.5" 4:3 screen, GBA isn't bad, but will look better on a 16:9.

    the lagging in the menus of mario kart wii is most likely caused by the .thps (video format for the wii) that play when selecting a mode/course
    there are codes to disable those completely which should fix the lag, there are a bunch of other optimisation codes for this game as well, some of which are hideous such as a low poly code for the characters (pls dont try this) + a 30fps code but clearly this doesnt need that 😭 i also recommend trying out online in this game sometime via a custom server, it works really well and it's still pretty active

      Weird thing is the swelling went down a bit after not using it for a while. It got used from time to time, especially testing out games, but not like a super daily thing. I'd blame charing it a lot on the dock but I have my GEEK1S docked all the time and haven't had a problem with that.

    Those clackety buttons became more and more annoying the longer the video went on. Do you think disassembling it and putting electrical tape on the pads might mitigate the issue somewhat or is the noise coming from the buttons running on the glass front?

    • @-roetaka
      @-roetaka  58 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      Based on a tear down I've seen...so you have the plastic buttons which are glued to a circular rubber membrane and those have a contact that when it touches the circuit of the motherboard it registers an input. It's the way the button springs back that's making the most sound so as @AishTalksTech mentioned in another comment he decided to trim the rubber membrane to reduce the noise. I'm curious if SakuraRetroModding will make some buttons, he usually makes buttons that are a a touch rounded and shorter so that could be a fix but if the rubber membrane really is just too tall then that's mostly the culprit and a trim could help. I'm not sure if I wanna do it myself but I do have new buttons coming and I really don't know why they didn't ship with the Mini.

    • @-roetaka
      @-roetaka  ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hmm I do actually find it decently comfortable to use everything on the device except the triggers, I just find them too tight and wish I could pull down on the edges more. I actually find the 4's triggers nicer to use but since that device is flat it isn't as good. When I'm mapping buttons for emulators I'm feeling like I would prioritze the shoulders, so if it was Gamecube I'd put the L and R buttons on the shoulders and Z on L2 or R2, just because I'd find it more comfortable to play.

    • @-roetaka
      @-roetaka  11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      It's like a slightly chunkier smart phone (mainly because of the ergonomic grips), I suppose if you had to be super critical then the sticks could be a little flatter, I'm actually a little curious about sanding down the stick or cap but it could lean into the inner ring and not give a proper range of movement.
