This guy changed my entire perception of music and what it could be. Music in 12 parts part 1 was my first exposure to his work when I was 16 or so. A teacher who was a friend of ours joked we should use 12 parts for the school dance, and then explained that it was 4 hours long. And I just had to know what sort of crazy composition could be 4 hours long! Thank goodness I checked it out! :) I play a bit, and I wouldn't be able to conceive of music the way I do now without glass and his intricate, constantly evolving rhythms.

That isn't Mick Rossi on keyboards it's Martin Goldrey. Great video all the same.

The information associated with this historic video is sparse and in some respects incorrect or conflicting, e.g. the two names for the vocalist. It shows the cover of the album GLASSWORKS and states that the program played is “Glassworks I to V” though this is not the GLASSWORKS album, neither the version released in Greece or anywhere else. Furthermore, the sound is not good, with extraneous noise being frequently heard. That being said, despite the drawbacks it depicts very well what a concert by this group was like. The program begins with a piece which has more melodic and harmonic movement than most Glass pieces of the time and is listed as being “Dance IX.” An abbreviated version of “Music in Twelve Parts, Part 1 starts at ~ 8:18, Part 2 at ~ 17:16, followed by “Music in Similar Motion” at ~ 30:32. The last selection,”Spaceship” from EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH begins at ~ 45:55.

I've always enjoyed Philip Glass music, ever since the first time I heard this minimalist yet intricate sound. I can't remember the first work I heard, but I remember being captured by the melodies and cadences and the subtle changes that caused an evolution over time.
In any event, the Maestro came to Sydney to perform during the Sydney Festival of the year 2000 where he and his orchestra performed Koyaanisqatsi live at the Sydney Opera House, with the large screen playing the film for us all to follow as we listened. Summer on the harbour, at the Opera House, listening to sublime music...

How she keeps up and consistent during "Spaceship" boggles the mind.

We Are sooooooooooooo lucky to experience this music,. I'm not sure how to express myself about the wonder of his music, and the work of all the artists performing here. I'm a pretty naive person and this is breathtaking for me.
