4 cups bread flour (480g) 3 Tbsp sugar 2 tsp instant yeast 1 ½ tsp salt 1 (15.5 oz) can canned chickpeas, or about 1 ½ cup of cooked chickpeas 1 cup water , best if warm NO added oils
I am amazed about how GOOD this bread looks!! I did'nt know it can rise so well even with so many chickpeas in it! BUT who on earth doesn't like the heel of the bread?! That's the best part hahaha!
@@SauceStache WHAT?! You are just breaking all the rules here! I will definitely check out the tofu bread too! Chickpeas and tofu are great ways to add protein to bread, something we usually only associate with carbs!
noice! but ya need a nice thickish slab of onion in your sammich! ;) i used to walk home past a farmer's market, and i'd live on fresh tomato, onion, and vegan mayo sammiches all season...mmmm!
There's a commonly repeated rule about fewer and less. It goes like this: fewer is used to refer to number among things that are counted, as in "fewer choices" and "fewer problems"; less is used to refer to quantity or amount among things that are measured, as in "less time" and "less effort."
Fantastic! Still working on getting the right texture to my aquafaba since I start with dry chickpeas. I think I have to boil off more water so it’s more greasy
I have made many of your recipe suggestions. This one was and is AMAZING. Mine is in the oven RIGHT NOW! I did everything that you did, except I sprinkled Everything Bagel seasoning before I popped it in the oven. This is my first time EVER trying my hand at bread baking. Let's see how it comes out. Send me good tidings!
I have converted almost every yeast baking recipe I like to the Artisan Bread with Steve no-knead method, and my brain was going haywire watching this one. I can't wait to experiment! Thanks for the innovative chickpea recipes like this one, Mark, and thanks for posting 🙂
I make Steve's Artisan Bread too! If you make it with chickpeas, maybe you would come back on this thread and report your results? I would be very interested!
Curious about how this bread might be made as a sourdough. If you ever decide to attempt that, I would love to see it. I love that you are working with what can be grown at home.
Start with 50/50 white flour and wheat flour and see how it goes. Sometimes this is perfect so always keep in mind that the w/w flour will make a much denser bread unless you add extras like yeast, etc. After that trial run then try all w/w and see what you get. BTW, should be plenty of gluten in the w/w flour so no need to add any extra.
@ To use "bread flour" is not part of a whole foods dietary regimen. Once the bran and germ have been stripped, it is not very healthy. More like Wonder Bread where one wonders why we are gaining so much weight. hahaha
I haven’t tried it but from what I know about a bread machine my best guess is it would work. The only thing I might suggest would be to mash the chickpeas a bit first to give them a start because I don’t know how long or rough the kneading is.
Hey, Saucy. What was the consistency like with the chick peas that weren't fully broken down? Or were they? And could you mash them before putting them in with the rest of the ingredients to rise?
This might be good for me. I eat too much bread and when I don’t have beans ready. I tend to overeat on bread. So if they are combined. Maybe I can maintain a more normal portion size. I have problems sometimes maintaining my blood sugar due to PCOS. I don’t have diabetes tho. Which is good.
Do you have a similar gluten free recipe, I was wondering if brown rice, potato, and garbanzo beans would work? My foster sister has Parkinson's, so her vegetarian husband is doing almost all the cooking.
I used to make my own bread, but I’ve been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease and can no longer have gluten… What flour do you think would work with this recipe. Maybe chic pea flour? I’m finding most gluten free bread less than thrilling… 🇨🇦
I make chickpeas out of everything but there is chickpea flour and I don’t understand adding the bread flour…I was hoping it wasn’t going to be included for a gluten free recipe but I will keep searching.

This was awesome and made me think of when I was preventing myself from having seizures by imagining I was making dough like this in my mind (sort of rolling/foling my brain around with my optic nerves), so thanks for making this kind of video now 'cause it ties together my experience on this Big, Wet Rock. *high-fives-like-whoa*

@judsjo maybe you could try oat flour.
We can't trust this until Monica gives her opinion!
I was so bummed she wasn’t going to be home for the video but she’s given it her seal of approval since then!! Haha
😂😂😂👍😉
I'm with you on that
I tried bread made with cooked rice and I couldn't believe how moist and springy it came out.
Can't wait to try chick peas!
The Fresh bread crust (heal)is my absolute favorite part of homemade bread! Lathered with butter when still hot!!!!
Chickpeas WILL change how YOU think about modern house construction!
Shhhhhh that’s my next video! New master bedroom suite out of chickpeas
I laughed too hard at this.

This one’s not on me!! But thank you!!!🙏
At this stage your diet is going to consist of 98% chickpeas!
Almost haha 😂
chickpeas for breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks
Don't forget dessert.
Amen 🙏

It’s soo good!! I do toss red onion time to time but just toast and tomato has always been my go to!
Thanks for the tip about blending the chickpeas if we don’t have a stand mixer - appreciated!! Gave mine to my kiddos & use a hand mixer now.
Homemade Ezekiel bread next?
Not a bad idea
@@SauceStache please do! I get tired of spending $8 per loaf on the 'Zeke! 😂

One of my absolute comfort food sandwiches! 😊

No way! I’ve been baking bread for over 20 yrs! I’m shocked. Way to go!

Yeah the less water you have in the end the better. After you cook the chickpeas have you tried reducing the liquid down by about half slowly?

Im gonna start now haha a
Nice 👌 How well do you think it work in a bread machine as don't have a stand mixer 🤔 Keep up the great content 🙌
I'm going to try. I'll blend the chickpeas and use the proportion relative to the flour amount for a two pound loaf in my machine.
I haven’t tried it but from what I know about a bread machine my best guess is it would work.
The only thing I might suggest would be to mash the chickpeas a bit first to give them a start because I don’t know how long or rough the kneading is.

That's gorgeous. Hopefully your January tomatoes are better than ours.
BEAUTIFUL LOAF🙃

ngl that bread looks awesome
Do you think it would work with some or all whole wheat flour?
Totally you would want more gluten added though for sure
why dont you put recipes on the same blog
That would require TWO cans of chickpeas

I love making bread and will have to try this. My family fights over who gets the heel!

This is awesome! Is the microwave necessary? I do not own one.
The end is the best part, I wish you could buy a whole bag of ends...

why sugar? why?
Because of how you grabbed the bottle before cutting to the ad I thought the video was going to be sponsored be the olive oil.
I hope you used the heel of the loaf for something.
It would be awesome to see a gluten free version of this 😊
I’m trying that today.
Why not use chickpea flour ?
Do you have a similar gluten free recipe, I was wondering if brown rice, potato, and garbanzo beans would work? My foster sister has Parkinson's, so her vegetarian husband is doing almost all the cooking.
I'm just curious about the nutritional label listed under the recipe on their blog. I'm thinking that it's 5g protein for 1 maybe a half inch slice?🤔

I mean I still ate it hahaha I just didnt want it on the Sammi

How it's a less carb bread?
Why do people say "garlic aioli"? Aioli is a garlic sauce.
Haha idk!! I need to break myself of that
Ignorant probably. I didn't know that until this comment.
Cut the bread in even slices, he said. Proceeds to cut the most uneven slice in history of man hahahah but it does look amazing!
