Actually quite useful thank you. Was a bit worried when it felt a bit scattered at the beginning but you cleaned it up midway through and talked about a lot of practical stuff, even the DR checks which i had been meaning to test out but haven't got around to it yet. Also the endbit was nice cuz i hadn't even considered the JP situation and yet it's the pros biggest downfall in the mu 😅😂
Great info, well there is one catch. corner meaty snatcher if perfect parried can be punished by drive rush jab. It is possible to beat perfect parry on wake up by holding snatcher for longer but it will lose to DI. As long as snatcher is not meaty, it loses to DI, no time to DI back. Therefore corner meaty snatcher after throw is kind risky. To lower the damage taken is to keep holding snatcher so DI will just knock Ed over which doesn't deal much damage. However it is very hard to confirm in such situation. If you see green hold a little and release, if you see red keep holding and eat DI or baite it with a level 3 canncel but good luck with that. If you don't see either, it is also complicated but in Ed's favour.
Thanks for the great video! I believe he also has a midscreen safejump after target combo into heavy blitz right? And after od flicker if you do drive rush heavy punch into charge light flicker into heavy blitz as well I believe.
@Nezs Tysm for the guide. One quick question, even if it is scrubby -- Modern Ed loses 2MK and 2LK, I already was using 5HP for further DR checks, but for close-mid am I just screwed then? Pretty sure his other normals are too stubby to check.
Well, I've been thinking about it recently and sHP is only one frame slower really, but is a better check if you actually get it out. Losing cMK hurts for a fair few reasons, it's a great button. But Modern Ed seems really good, one of the better modern characters for sure. cLK definitely hurts not to have, though. Might have to use sLK target combo in the same situations. You could also always EX DP drive rushes if you can spare the meter.
@@NezsFGC Awesome thanks, I'll give the sLK TC a try. And yeah EX DP on DR's has actually been working well, but I try not to do it too much since EX Snatcher is so valuable and so easy to trap people with after a 5HP. Btw I LOVE that spark meaty examples vs JP, that was some quality stuff. Do you know if there is anyway to make Ed's block pressure "safer" by ending strings with a spark (even if fake/knowledge checking)? I've had some success with it, but unsure if building bad habits :S
@@AmBiTi0n yeah you definitely can. There are a lot of frame traps and spacing traps it can do like that, which can lead to huge conversions. I don't know too much about them yet, unfortunately.
I always use OD DP and LVL1/LVL3 to react to close neutral DR. For me, it's more stable than normals. You have to be very consistent in reaction speed because you can hit a block if the opponent reads you. If I don't have a drive/super meter, I don't try to react.
@6:24 Tf why i can't do all those late kill rush Upper everytime in every combo i don't understand, if i do it outisde combo like HP Kill rush late upper i doing it well... I brake my head really !
I've heard people say you can look for when he starts to duck in his animation, but I'm not sure how much that helps. I, personally, have just practiced it a lot through playing to the point that I'm used to it now.
I plan to make a big video going over every known combo that has a use. I've just been waiting for season 2 balance patch to drop so that it won't be out of date.
Thanks man, too bad character has a crap jab, no overhead and terrible reversals. Love the design, but a lot of his toolkit are gimmicks that can be blown up by DI. End up playing the game old school footsies with FP and mp and some flicker jabs and hoping I can convert something into a combo... Wish he had at least one special you could abuse like honda does...
Honda is the scrubkiller of this game and not an example to follow for character design. Ed doesnt need an overhead when he has +4 ex or charged(and we are seeing more and more ways to do so safely, even from drive impact) flicker on demand. Drive impact is always a very risky gamble by the opponent because if you bait it(and there are thousand ways to bait it with ed) he eats 2 drive bars and a full combo of your choice. Jabs range are rough but atleast he gets ch.st.lp ->cr.lk->light or medium blitz Ed is playing another game plan than honda and i think its a fun one.
just hit master with ed today, I owe a huge part of my success to your guides sir, thank you!!
Congrats!
Been looking forward to this guide ever since the character was announced. You helped me learn Ed in V and I've been so excited to learn him in 6.
Haha, that's awesome to hear, I really appreciate it. I hope you've been enjoying him as much as I have.
@@NezsFGC Oh yeah, he's so much fun! I'm having a great time haha.
Best comprehensive video I've seen on ed thanks a ton for this one!
The first true full guide on youtube, great work 👍🏼
Never been this early for anything. Glad it's this.
I appreciate this learning ED is scrambling my brain
Cant believe the ALGO gods have blessed me with this video!! having fun learning Ed, thank you! subbed!
Oh hell yeah 😭😭 as an 09’er coming back to sf6 the lack of good info on forums like SRK and EventHubs has me scouring for a decent guide on TH-cam.
Discord and Twitter is where all the good shit is nowadays

Pretty much all a ED player needs to Begin with thanks u my man , i was alreary learning from you since SFV ED nice work 🥊
I just picked up Ed because of the dream combo😂, thank you for helping my Ed improve

very helpful tyvm!
Perfect!
Perfect
17:41 What would have the optimal ending have been for that combo exactly? struggling to see what else you could do after the EX flicker
medium flicker (uncharged), cHK xx OD flicker, light upper, light blitz
@@NezsFGC can I ask why the cHK is preferred to the sHP? is it just a range thing or does one have slightly more corner carry?
@@NKaldis it moves ed forward so you're closer to get the light upper, light blitz. Otherwise they're the same.

Yeah, Ed has a ton of mind games in that situation. In a lot of flicker situations, really.
you can actually do a slightly more optimal meterless target combo route in the corner:
5mp~hp > 236hk, 214mp
still gives you the safe jump too
Ah, thanks. I'll be sure to put in any future video that goes over combos.
23:10 how do you get standing heavy kick to link like that after Spark?
I tried, but it doesn't seem to be automatic even in Punishing counter state.
All about setting up the spark to be meaty. after heavy upper do immediate cLP into spark. That auto-times it.
my man

Is St.Hp confirmable into late dash upper in a match?
Just found your channel after picking up Ed and these guides help a lot. Thanks
It's an 18f confirm. Which is technically reactable but quite difficult.
i im struggling a lot to make the s.HP > late rush upper be true.
I either get the early one or its not true. any tips?

Me too bruh this is difficult to make true :(
For the heavy blitz, I saw punk use a double dash as oki. Is that consistent and strong?
Double dash is +2. You can definitely still do most things off it, but you won't have enough room to shimmy against either rise.
Combo input text list anywhere?

For me personally, I've always found that it's a lot later than I expect it to be. So I try to be later than my brain wants to do it.
@@NezsFGC I’ll try the same. I wish he had a stronger tell in his animation. Thanks man. Great video.
On punish flicker I find it easiest to dr stmk ex flicker
yeah I should have put that in there. sMK gives you a lot easier time.
When you are chipping in burnout can a cr lp beat out your st mp?
Depends on the situation, but very likely considering sMP is 7f start-up.

I am too bad for this character's combos. I have like a 5% Success rate.
Keep practicing. Eventually it'll become second nature. They're not easy combos for sf6.

Don't worry about doing all the hard stuff at first! Take it step by step; stick to the small easy combos and move on once you're super comfortable
