It really doesn't matter if the benchmarks show the 9300 performing better, because most emulators are optimised with snapdragon gpus, adreno, and vulkan. So even a 3-4 year old snapdragon will be alot worse on benchmarks but will likely perform better on emulation specifically than a 9300
Also the only sustained performance test I have seen for a 9300 device saw it throttle to 46% performance quite quickly, so more difficult emus will prove difficult for it to handle if this throttling behavior is seen more widely.
The crazy thing is iphone 13 ran rogue at 60fps 1080p a few years ago. How is it something like that is possible and android is just able to run it now at 1080? This has to be because of how high the cpu score for iphone is since dolphin is pretty cpu bound.
These video benchmarks for newer android SoCs have become a lot less exciting after Snapdragon 865 - 870, and its not your fault. Its just that we saw massive performance break throughs with Snapdragon 865, so much so that it runs everything comfortably with 2 - 4x resolution boosts and theres no new emulators to flex android SoC power in meaningful ways outside of Yuzu. Native android gaming is still poor due to a horrible game library and a lack of ports. Whats the point of above Snapdragon 888 levels of GPU psrformance when most games and apps do almost nothing to advantage of these gen on gen increases to compute?
Competition with Mediatek/Apple and an excuse to classify it as a flagship chipset. A small amount of games still does utilize the gpu so I guess it’s not all bad.
Sony phones have had 4k display (21:9) for some time. The biggest benefit is 1080 still looks sharp, where as I'm not really a fan of the in between on phones. I guess I'm not large scale either, since I'm waiting for mainstream 4k 120+ fps to power said screens. Kinda wild to think my phone has it, but without the content or the VRR. Given the fact most mobile stuff is 1080p coupled with bandwidth and battery life, it's rare to enjoy 4k content, unless you've got it anyway downloaded or on your micro sd card. So even though it's completely silly to emulate at 4k, on a phone. Mashed me realize, I ought to find out what my SD 888 can 10x, lol.
100% FALSE. Xperia One phones do NOT have a 4K display whatsoever. It doesn't even have the pixel count of 4K resolution in any way, shape, or form. Sony is lying to you all with their BS marketing tactics. 16:9 4K = 3840 x 2160 aka 8,294,400 pixels. 21:9 4K which is what Xperia One claims to be = 5120 x 2160 aka 11,059,200 pixels. Sony Xperia 1 V = 3840 x 1644 aka 6,312,960 pixels which is NOT 4K whatsoever. What Sony did is take 16:9 4K resolution and cut off nearly 33% of the vertical resolution to achieve a 21:9 aspect ratio which results in 3840 x 1644 which is NOT 4K at all. The last phones with ACTUAL 4K displays are the Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium both of which have 16:9 4K resolution aka 3840 x 2160. No Xperia 1 phone in existence has ever had a 4K display. 🤣🤣🤣 People need to wake up and stop automatically believing every marketing claim on a product.

Congratulations, you burned through your handheld's battery because you ran a game at 1800p with wonky integer scaling and interlacing because "10x" sounded like a sexy number.
@@AaronHendu most old games are locked to 480i/480p while others adapt to the devices native resolution and some have weird resolutions so its nice to know what's the game's resolution. also not everyone knows what resolution each console was using
A console with a Gen 3, wired to a tv, would be an absolute emulation monster
Love the layout of having the emulation test on screen like this.
Redream isn't really maxed out unless you set polygon sort accuracy to per-pixel (64 layers), otherwise you'll get some visual oddities with per-strip like the odd looking beach in Sonic Adventure
I think, finally, the best chip for playing all emulators in HD has arrived ! 2x resolution and even if you want to push it to the limit 3x resolution is enough for smartphones.
Thank you ETA for testing!
I'd love to see you review the iQoo 12. It's technically a gaming phone, but it doesn't look like one. It looks more elegant in my opinion. It has a crazy good cooling system.
it looks a bit unpolished
I want this chip in a small desktop console!
Nice video.
EGG NS is working great for switch emulation on my IQOO 12 (8 Gen 3). Tested DMC 2 and Astral chain. Sure is a powerful beast!!!
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 hype has begun!
I wish we could see the return of micro SD cards
Both my latest tablet and phone has 256gb Samsung pro endurance microSD cards in them.
@@magfalthem cards r fast. That's all I need with now. 130 speed

Buy a Sony Xperia before they're gone. MicroSD, headphone jack, dual front firing stereo speakers, and no notches or punchholes make them special. People seem to hate the cinematic aspect ratio though. I've got a Galaxy A phone that's 20x9 and it's fine. I imagine a 21x9 screen wouldn't be a problem.
❤😊 exactly what we wanted 😁 thankyou so much 😍🥳🥳🥳
& also WINLATOR PC GAMES emulation
Amazing👍👍
Nice performance with this SDg3!I got phone with SDg2 and it's quite good as well for emulations, now I'm waiting for my phone with SDg5 and I hope it will be able to run PS3 emulator! That will be something!!!
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is the one people are waiting for.
Orion cores in late 2024! 🤯
lol even snapdragon 870 can run Witcher 3 or gta 5 with emulators. i saw a video of a guy playing it on his oneplus
@@greedyboi8431 No chance!!!!

When a phone is more powerful than a steam deck......GG Mobile Gaming!
This might even surpass the rog ally at 30 watts :O
Doubt
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a beast of a Smartphone chip, unfortunately going to be on Android only by the looks of it. Smartphone games can't hold a candle to AAA PC or console gaming.
I think power is not everything. Nintendo Switch uses an outdated ARM CPU and it has great games library. Consoles are the best imo, plug and play, but the games are expensive.
It's nowhere near as powerful as the Zen 4/RDNA 3 chip in the Ally and it's not more powerful than the Steam Deck either.
gtx 1650 mobile still better than this
SD8 Gen 3 is nearly overkill for PS2/GC? But PS3/XBox360 is a bit down the road yet on Android - I think the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro is gonna hit the sweet spot to be honest until the following gen can be emulated to a playable standard. Also - ETA Prine should be above PS3 clickbait logos 🤣
Xbox 360 emulation still isn't finished yet as there's still a ton of games that crash/freeze/etc. Unless Xenia devs somehow pull a miracle or someone else jumps into the ring with their own effort that somehow gets XNA/Indie Games to work, Xbox 360 emulation ain't coming to Android anytime soon.
@@neliaironwood7573 Xenia also relies on DirectX which Android (obviously) doesn't support. DXVK or something could maybe work but I wouldn't count on it.
@@neliaironwood7573 i agree plus one of the only things microsoft does right is backwards compatibility so not as much interest really
sadly the optimisation on ps3 and xbox 360 emulators is not great

On F-Zero GX fire fields, i could get solid 60fps with my snapdragon 865 at 2x. 3x worked decently as well but lagged sometimes

Gran turismo 4 is a must when testing performance as it's a high cpu clock speed dependent game
with china playing catching up game, other parties are trying to gain as much gap as possible. giving us the consumer the benefits. or otherwise they would have been milking us with low real benefit chipsets every year,
Theres a few games I'd like to see running on aethersx2 upscaled the Simpsons Road Rage, Chaos Legion and Shadow Hearts
this chip in an 8 inch tablet with an oled screen is my dream coming true!!!
Still ahead of a gtx 1650 mobile performance:
Do i need something?:
PSP 10x Resolution no issues
PS2 depends on Game 4k-5k resolution
Wii/GC depends on Game 4k-8k resolution
on a gtx 1650 mobile, still way better than snapdragon 8 gen 3!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought there was a PS3 emulator, but I think it was just a typo.
Thanks for the video. A small type in description. "This cpu will be in a lot of the new 2024 flagship android phones like the Galaxy S4" It should be S24.
My pixel 6a works great but happy to see what we can really do actually 🎉🎉👌🏆👍
Great .. I just bought the Odin 2. Surely there will be a refresh with this new chip.
Wonder how much better performance it gives above the gen 2
Yeah I've never seen him compare anything head to head.
I have an S23 with SN8G2 and just tested F-Zero's Fire Field and I CAN run it at 60fps without problems at 4x, 16x AF in practice mode and 80% of the time is hitting 60fps on story mode (fall to 80% speed in some section but I think is caching because last lap was flawless). Its sttuter in menus though. I can run God of War 2 at 2.5x on AetherSX2 as well. 2,75 can't hit 100% of speed constantly.
@@IronicSonic83 My odin 2 arrives today so Im exited! Thanks for that info!
Fantastic video, I actually just got the RedMagic 9 Pro today & putting it through its paces for my overview.
Still waiting for a Wii U emulator to come out for Android...
It would be more accurate to put ps2 instead of ps3 on the thumbnail. Right now there's no ps3 emulator for android. It definitely could run it if there was one but sense there isn't one its too clickbaity and misleading
I wish there is an Android TV box with this chip to replace my old Shield TV, then I would have a true multimedia, multi-console emulator all in one device. And as for loading my huge library of games, I use CIFS Document Provider app to load the games from my NAS server and emulate local storage ( currently I do this on my phone ). There is no need to copy 500GB+ of games to the phone or the Android TV.
Xbox? Beside being a console it is actually a multimedia tv box in a way too and it can do emulation too.
@@anglo-saxonconnor817 No, I want something like the Shield TV but more powerful.
So it's time for more demanding PS2 games like Sniper Elite and Transformers.
black and shadow of the collosus?

I will be due for a free phone upgrade around March or April and I cannot freaking wait to get my hands on a Gen 3 phone...hoping Samsung S24. Currently on an S20 FE 5G which is still an awesome phone.
S20 can emulate almost anything still. But yea s24 is going to be a powerhouse the s23 already is
Go with Rog phone for hard-core gaming, it won't throttle as much with its much better cooling
@@yummiermussel5331 true but the s23 series wasn’t too bad never throttled even maxed at on some emulators. The only issue is if you use the rog as a daily phone too the Samsung is better for longer support etc.
Why can't Samsung release a model that's not the very top end that beats a S20 5g??? 1440p and 12gb ram on S20
Can it run Crisis?
We already know it can play these old school emulators. Switch emu is probably the best way to find out if it can handle it
Fun fact: you can run ps3 on android by using winlator or mobox - windows emulators, where you can boot up rpcs3.
I love Xiaomi devices and this has been the best display of the power - good content as usual
This channel is very known and big , so a bad or misleading thumbnail can be negative for the channel's image , I'm talking about ps3.
What do you use to connect your phone to a monitor? Any suggestions for an HDMI to phone hub?
Going from a SD 778G in my A52s 5G to this beast of a chip next week is going to be interesting 😆
I just bought a Gen 2 via my Odin 2 lol
It never ends.
Hi, could you do us a favour and when you're showing Gran Turismo 4 emulation, can you please show the Hong Kong track as that's where the frame dips on phones and handhelds occur. Steam Deck really struggles and there is a huge slow down which makes it unplayable. The tracks you are showing are always easy to run so it would be nice if you would going forward focus on the HK track when you wanna stress a handheld or a phone. There were a few more tracks with slow downs but can't recall their names. Thanks
It does that kind of thing on other tracks for me too but I do have an older phone. On my desktop it's all perfect.
Awesome 😎
Good video I like to see resident evil 4 on the GameCube for when you test the red magic 9 pro. If possible thanks 🙏.
Waiting for PS3 - GOW 3 test. This thing is a beast.
in 5 years to come we can play triple aaa games in phone if this keep up.
The new iPhones already can. But I'm excited to see them on Android, it's going to happen at this rate...
AAA games are already playable even on snapdragon 870. i saw a guy emulating Witcher 3 on his oneplus phone and it ran so smoothly
@@greedyboi8431 I'm talking about the phones playing them natively, not thru emulation.
@@MUCKLEECH i have zero hopes from gaming companies releasing their triple A games on Android. not even in year 2050. so it's better to play games with emulators on such a powerful soc like snapdragon 8 gen 3. otherwise what's the point in purchasing such an expensive device? to play candy crush and temple run?
@@greedyboi8431 I think it'll happen. The new switch is rumored to have a snapdragon, and as companies like Microsoft are quietly making plans to quit making consoles, powerful phones will become more and more of a viable option for AAA studios to make games for.

I think his results seem to point to a better chip for emulation at least.
Great Times For Emulation On Smartphones 🤘😋
Eta prime review pcs too beside phones. The ps3 thumbnail might just be a simple screw up thats all.
Learn to be chill people. Its just a small matter where you can explain and highlight it out to others if you want and just filter it out of your head yourselves quite easily without being so angry and bittered over such small things in life at all.
Qualcomm will need at least 5 years for software and games to be optimized for the Snapdragon X Elite series. 5 years from now I hope there will be Linux or Windows Handheld Gaming powered by Snapdragon X Elite Series.
Next year : snapdragon gen 4 is the best ARM soc for emulation it can run it all!

that's actually a good thing considering how hot it is when benchmarked then it throttles.
when a chip so powerful that ran at 50% of it's power, means it won't get so hot then throttles

I've heard the dimensity 9300 is meant too be faster. Maybe you can test a device with one of those SOC's
It really doesn't matter if the benchmarks show the 9300 performing better, because most emulators are optimised with snapdragon gpus, adreno, and vulkan. So even a 3-4 year old snapdragon will be alot worse on benchmarks but will likely perform better on emulation specifically than a 9300
Also the only sustained performance test I have seen for a 9300 device saw it throttle to 46% performance quite quickly, so more difficult emus will prove difficult for it to handle if this throttling behavior is seen more widely.
dimensity 9300 vs snapdragon 732g, my money still for 732g, because mediatek/mali gpu, is very bad for gaming emulator
mediatek chips always heats a lot and drain excess battery
Will you be reviewing the new red magic device ?
Can't wait for the day an Arm CPU that runs PS3 emulation and smoothly is released.
The crazy thing is iphone 13 ran rogue at 60fps 1080p a few years ago. How is it something like that is possible and android is just able to run it now at 1080? This has to be because of how high the cpu score for iphone is since dolphin is pretty cpu bound.
Same chip as in the upcoming Aya Neo Pocket S, right?
Can you test winlator pc emulator on snapdragon 8 gen 3
What is the site you used for the cellular phone search it's very interesting to me and I wouldn't mind using it do you mind sharing it?!
Prime checking on 91mobiles 😮
People need to wake up and stop automatically believing every marketing claim on a product.
Please put this in a mini pc. This will blow away 780m.
