The walls look fantastic! Love the look of the sliding door, as well! All your hard work is really paying off in the progress you are making. I am looking forward to seeing the floors and kitchen in, but probably not as much as Von is! Stay safe and warm.
God I love those still power saws one time I forgot my saw out in the bush in the winter came back the next morning it was buried in snow started it up in three poles won't see Husqvarna do that gotta choke it to death husqvarna and probably about 8 to 10 poles I've love my stills And I'm sure glad no one went up that logging road because my power saw was sitting right in the middle of the road I had a hard time going to sleep that night but they would have had to have a 4 by 4 to get up there
Just seems like there is a plethoria of Alaskian off grid Homesteading TH-cam channels. Enjoy the snow ! Stay warm. Retired and in the South....near family !
The living room walls look great and the pantry door is a good match to the whole setup. I hope you have a relatively mild winter as compared to the last one.
Very good job looks very nice on the wall I was wondering I see that you got a brand new wood stove why did you not get the new stoves that have the cook stove elements in him I like those come in handy I know you can cook on the top of a wood stove but the new stoves have the same thing as the cook stoves have the little round disks in the top😁😁😁😁😁You're missing something in those high ceilings where's your ceiling fans I got a ceiling fan in every room because I heat with wood heat to circulate the heat they work excellent
We went with the blaze king for its awesome output and haven’t seen the new stoves… sounds awesome though. We do have fans in all the rooms, it probably isn’t visible in the angles. We keep forgetting to turn them off when we’re filming, so if you hear a whop whop noise in the background, that’s what it is 😂
I have been watching you guys from the beginning. You place is coming together incredibly nice! You have thought out the property so nicely with structure location. The wood walls will in the house gives it a lodge look.
Hi guys. When we lived off grid people used to say to us, oh how lucky, no electrical bills etc. but to get set up properly it’s not cheap and like you said,,,,a lot of maintenance, if you want your batteries and generator to last. The house looks so great. Love the barn door. Great job 🌷🇨🇦
Seeing the rock frozen onto you cord reminds me of a great story. A friend of mine parked his truck in some mud in front of his house one Friday night. When he left for work on Monday morning, he literally broke off three tires which had frozen into the mud over the weekend.
Good morning! Love the overhead view of the cabin. Everything is lovely ❤ it's looking bigger & better every little bit that you do. 😉 Lots of work to keep you slim and trim. 😅 Have a great weekend! 🙏 ❤
Use 6mm vapour barrier for your front of your woodshed, allows light in another great place for storage when not filled. Fasten the vapour barrier to the top by stapling it to a wooden batten wrap it a couple times then screw to the top of the wood shed entrance, do the same with the bottom, light penetration makes it a wonderful work area
Stack the logs in front of the wood shed and cut them right there, next to the spltter and close to the wood pile..the less you have to handle the wood the less work you guys have to do....the t and g paneling is beautiful..
Watching from across the pond in England. Great to see the progress that you guys are making. It is interesting to see the freedom that you have over there, and your hard work to make the most of them! Hope you have an awesome week
Looks great! Everything done right takes time. You have a beautiful home and it’s coming together so well. Thanks for sharing. God Bless and we’ll see you on your next adventure!
Those walls look great and can't wait till you get the mounts on the walls. I remember the days when we heated with wood, when we were a lot younger. I didn't even going outside and splitting it myself. Today there is no way either of us can do it.
I love y'all you two work so well together!! And it gives y'all time together too! Memories!! Everything is looking great!! I'm so love watching y'all pulling it all together!! It's gratification.. I know I built a custom home with my late husband back in the day!! 😆👍 Sending love and support from Florida until next time. See you soon!! 🌺💫💫💫
What's Up ? Von and Ryan WOW the wall's look beautiful and i love the pantry barn door . I love what you both do for each other and i love how you both work together , and another thing i drink LUMNAH ACRES coffee too i love it every morning . See ya on the next one .
It is coming together your home is looking great comparatively! Can't wait to see moose antler mount. Of course l am guessing! Off Grid you become knowledgeable in solar, plumbing, gardening.....the list is long. Trim....l only had to trim one room it is a lot of work..windows, doors, baseboards, ceiling... Can't wait for ice fishing videos! Cheers have a lovely weekend Von and Ryan.
I know people always say to use the proper chain oil for a chainsaw but I think you're doing the same thing I did and I did it for like 2025 years I use all my used motor oil for chain oil it's hard on the bar but not that bad And I used to sell the firewood 400 cords of winter
The house is looking great! That looks like a pretty great generator/battery set up - hope it keeps working well for you! Thanks for another great video!
I would love a holiday in Alaska but could not do the work required to live there permanently. You have a system which works well for you. The house is looking great, and now that the interior is what you are working on at least that part of your work is in the warmth Best wishes from Scotland.
Naughty naughty I didn't see you put any oil in that filter before you put it on I do believe you're supposed to put oil in a filter on an automobile I don't know what a generator first before you put the oil filter on
The walls look great can't wait to see the floors you picked out. If you didn't have all the maintenance what would you do with all that extra time? Lol
Your walls are gorgeous. Also I’m loving your pantry door. Your house is going to be so beautiful when finished. Stay warm. 77* here in Southern California. I’d trade California for Alaska in a minute. ❤️
Technically we should have mud and taped the Sheetrock first, but we needed to get the tongue and groove up to get our storage unit emptied. We don’t have anywhere to stow the mounts. So we just want to get them and put them up and bonus, we get rid of that expense. 💰
Wouldent it go better with roller Al on lumna acres sorry spelt it wrong did his in this plant room timber like your but special roller gets in the cracks have look was his one before one he did its in the shop where he did it Yes it looks so nice
A roller would have been great 👍 We thought about it but, we were worried it wouldn’t get in the cracks and we only had access to regular brushes and rollers 😁 A bit more time consuming, but we gotter done.
Because of the long dark winters, we end up inside a lot of the time. It’s nice to have an open, airy feeling so you don’t feel like you’re living in a cave all winter.
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska wow! I live in northeast Texas where one needs to be able to “survive” the summers rather than the winters, so it’s neat to see how the diametric opposite climate affects life. We had 52 days of 100+ temps last summer with NO rain.
You two make a helluva good team and you can definitely tell that the romance is still there, you house is looking beautiful by the way
Thank you so much! ❤️

We’re definitely not getting any younger, but it keeps us moving 💪 We’ll be installing a propane furnace for secondary heat.
it would be a good idea of keeping a running log of those battery readings you'll notice the pattern as the batteries age.
Good call! We started one 👍👍👍

I don’t blame you girlfriend. There’s no way I could get up there on that ladder and paint! I love to paint but not high up on a ladder!
The walls look really good I would like to see some snow a round. Here but we don't get good snows like you'll get

Lots of work for sure when living off grid bc you have to maintain all of the systems, can't just call the local utility to do it.
Great job Ryan . Von is teaching you well bud lol
You got that right! 🤣😂🤣
Love the vids. Thanks.❤
Glad you like them! Thank you 🙏
Hi.. I love you guys.. Greetings from Algeria ❤
Hello from Alaska!! ❤️
Somebody is burning the midnight oil. Isn't it 1am in Alaska (It's 5am here)? Can't wait to see all the mounts hanging on your new walls.
Lol 😂 😂😂 We set it on a timer to release the videos on east coast morning time 😁 The mounts will definitely add a nice touch ❤️ Thank you Bear 🐻
Place is looking really nice! A lot of hard work is paying off! You guys make a great couple!! Do you have any kids?
Yes we do. We have two awesome daughters and six beautiful grandkids. We are so blessed to have them ❤️
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska you two look way to young to have grandkids. Lol.
Hello guys 👋
Hello 👋
Your walls are gorgeous. Also I’m loving your pantry door. Your house is going to be so beautiful when finished. Stay warm. 77* here in Southern California. I’d trade California for Alaska in a minute. ❤️
Thank you! You too! 77 phew 😅 It’s -1 this morning 😁
I’m not a fixit type person but I enjoy the shows. Is there a proper order when you do ceilings and walls?
Technically we should have mud and taped the Sheetrock first, but we needed to get the tongue and groove up to get our storage unit emptied. We don’t have anywhere to stow the mounts. So we just want to get them and put them up and bonus, we get rid of that expense. 💰
What about your indoor plumbing.
It’s one of things where “we need to do this to that and that to do this”… LOL
The inside of the house is taking shape, but what about the outside. Is house wrap the finished look?
Lol 😂 For this year it is 😂 But the plan is to mill the siding for next year 👍
Love your channel❤️ Is there a reason the TV is off center on that section of wall?
Thank you 🙏 It looks better that way aesthetically because of the couch placement 👍
Are you going finish the drywall before you do the floors
Not 100 percent sure, but that’s the plan as of now 👍
It can be both, romantic AND work!! Not mutually exclusive. Part of the romance IS the hard work.
👍👍👍
Why does a lot of people have so high ceilings in Alaska?
Because of the long dark winters, we end up inside a lot of the time. It’s nice to have an open, airy feeling so you don’t feel like you’re living in a cave all winter.
That oil was thick! Is that due to the temperature?
Yes, absolutely 😉
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska wow! I live in northeast Texas where one needs to be able to “survive” the summers rather than the winters, so it’s neat to see how the diametric opposite climate affects life. We had 52 days of 100+ temps last summer with NO rain.
Wow!!
Is that a water base poly you used?
Hmmm 🤔 not sure, I’ll take a look 👍
Thanks, I am using the same wood in a cabin in the UP of Michigan and will want some kind of finish on it.
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska
It says oil based clear satin polyurethane 👍
@@wildwoodoffgridalaska thanks for the info
👍💪
🇳🇴👍👍👌
You said oil change every 100 hrs. How long does it take to use 100 hrs?? Week??
We average about 100hrs every 5 weeks.
Love the barn door. Looking good guys.
Thank you Terry ❤️
Great job, guys! Love the walls, barn door and most of all, the teamwork!
Thank you so much! We feel so lucky to have each other ❤️
