    Thank you for pointing out that the full resolution electronic shutter burst rates are backwards at 3:13. The X-H2S can shoot 40 fps, the X-H2 can shoot 13 fps max. Apologies for the mistake!

      Have to wonder: Do Chris and Jordan use any sort of teleprompter when recording their excellent videos? There's so much info they share about each camera or lens or whatever the topic is that it seems impossible for anyone to memorize it all before filming. (Unless that's their superpower for each...)

    For $1999 this is surprisingly good value considering it has similar specs to a Canon R5 ($3900) but with an APSC sensor. I mean even the XT4 costs $1699 so this is $300 more for a LOT of improvements.

I have decided to switch from Canon to Fuji, but as a landscape stills-photographer in northern Norway where more than half the year is winter and with little or no daylight, and harsh weather, X-h2 noise and performance in low light, dynamic range and weather resistance will be important...also how smoothly will all my EF lenses work with this new X-h2...

    I think it would be interesting to compare 6.2k upscaled to 8k from the H2S vs 8k from the H2. I’m willing to bet the detail advantage may not be as high as some think it will be. I think most viewers would be hard pressed to look at upscaled 6.2k video and say hey that’s not really 8k. Even for those crazy reframing fans out there, kidding, 6.2k is still a lot of reframing potential. I personally would rather have 6.2k with super fast sensor readout, 14bit and the potentially better sensitivity. Even from a stills perspective 26MP is not a bad thing to have vs 40MP. Unless one really needs to crop their photos a lot as a normal process I don’t feel the added MP is worth the inferior sensor overall.
    In terms of over sampling 6.2K and 8k downscaled to 4K should be identical.
    Without a doubt Fuji is killing it right now. I moved from m43 to Canon R6 and RF mount a year ago but I’m really starting to wonder if that was a wise choice. It’s a nice camera but I really feel like the R6 just isn’t doing for video what Fuji does. I was also rather impressed with the Fuji lens options out there.
    I still worry about the long term market longevity of Fuji in a rapidly shrinking camera market. It’s hard to believe the market will support anybody but Sony and Canon. Plus FF is all the rage now and one wonders how much the industry wants APS-C much like if m43 still has a place. I don’t really want to invest a lot in Fuji glass if it just doesn’t survive. At least with Canon there is the perfect adapting of EF to RF mount. A lot of Canon DSLR, Canon cinema, BMD cinema and mr3 SpeedBooster users moved to EF glass a long time ago. That’s kind of why I went the Canon R6 route. Made the most sense for my EF lenses and it seemed more market safe.

    • @mbvglider
      @mbvglider 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      R6 isn’t doing a lot for pro video but it’s still really good in terms of picture quality. And you can’t necessarily look at a Canon made in 2020 and be like why isn’t it as good as a Fuji made in 2022? Moreover, though they’re at a similar price, Fuji’s XH2s are a premium product, whereas Canon R6 is a midrange product. I feel like Canon always eventually gives people what they want; they just make you wait a bit. I suggest that people be happy with what they have and not worry too much about other systems, especially when every system has plenty of advantages.

    • @zegzbrutal
      @zegzbrutal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      R6 still a very capable camera in the right use. I love using the RF 100-400 that hated because the small aperture.
      It's my favorite other than the adapted EF20-35L and Tamron 35-150mm.
      Fuji or other systems don't have something close to my current set up. APSC/m43 low light is limited, and that's physics. E mount 35-150mm is too heavy for daily use. RF14-35L is too expensive; and Tamron 17-28 straight out colors are lacking IMO. Thus I stay on current setup for now.

    • @digitaldevigner4080
      @digitaldevigner4080 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@zegzbrutal Oh I love my R6. Best camera I ever owned. I wish it could do open gate 5.4K or external raw video but other than that it’s a solid video camera. It gets a bad reputation in the video industry but it’s the only FF camera that can do over sampled 4K 60p without cropping or some crude pixel binning.
      I now work with only HDR and the HDR PQ on Canon cameras is simply amazing. Much better than HLG. I hardly ever shoot log anymore because the HDR PQ color and dynamic range out of the box is stunning on HDR displays. I get about 780 nit HDR which is close enough to a HDR 1000 workflow. With Clog-3 I can easily get to 1000 nits but it’s more work and it has more noise.
      I find working with the HDR PQ insanely easy in FCP and a 14” MBP with XDR display.
      So no matter what cool features Fuji may have I’m not leaving Canon for now.

    This looks like an amazing travel camera.
    I can use the 50mm f1.0(or the new 56mm f1.2) for portraits.
    16-55mm f2.8 is wonderful zoom for this camera.
    33mm f1.4 is great
    40 megapixel will go a long way for cropping.

    • @jensdanbolt6953
      @jensdanbolt6953 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The lenses project the image they do, a higher MP sensor just lifts the headroom. Some lenses have the sharpness to make full use of that, some only a little bit. Most lenses will benefit in the center and not in the corners. *In no case do they perform worse.*

    • @JHuffPhoto
      @JHuffPhoto 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Really the jump from 26 to 40 MP is not as much as it sounds. In order to double your resolution you have to multiply your current MP by 4. So to double the resolution of your photos you would have to have a 104 MP sensor. 40 MP will come in handy when you want to crop or if you are going to print really big and stare at that print from a really close distance. I would not worry too much about the 40 MP out resolving your current lenses unless you plan to do some serious pixel peeping. Personally I prefer to make photographs.

    I don't need 8K, or a fast read sensor. What I need is a high resolution sensor, that can do 160mp multi-shot, so I can mount my camera on a tripod and get high-res landscapes. My other use will be senior pictures and weddings. I'm also not worried about rolling shutter, as my video uses never have panning. Hopefully it'll do this well, as I'm not sure how it's going to handle water reflections when the images are combined with they move. But we're gonna find out, I've got one on order. I'm sure it'll be a nice upgrade from my X-T3 which doesn't even have stabilization. For a moment I considered Fuji's GFX system, but this new H2 has 160mp multi-shot mode, if it works well, I can't see why I'd need a GFX and a whole new suite of lenses.

      The comparison with the XS10 is very simple: that one lacks the autofocus capabilities and has a 24 megapixel sensor and less buttons to customise. It is also less than half the money, size and weight. You wouldn’t have bought the XS10 if you shoot a lot of sports or wildlife or if you are heavy into video. The XS10 is the perfect stills machine if you prioritise weight and size without compromising photography quality and when you are not married to separate dials for exposure and iso and if you are not using big telephoto lenses all the time.

Why, because this camera has been out for a while (I'm still shooting the X-T3) so the people looking at the X-H2 are probably looking to upgrade from one of the previous models. Personally, I have been considering moving up to a full frame camera for the added resolution and amazing eye auto detect that other systems offer. Since I primarily shoot wildlife and macro those features are important to me. (crop, crop, and crop some more.) However, the cost involved to switch systems is outrageous and unless a full frame camera is 45mp + it doesn't seem to be worth it to me. This new Fuji may just keep me invested in the APS-C format a bit longer...

If the AF performance is the same between the two, I'll take resolution over speed I don't really need any day. The fact the H2 non-S is cheaper is the icing on the cake.

      @Random Thought honestly I don’t know that the manual dials on XT series is 100% a vanity/hobby feature. It’s a huge asset whenever I’m in any kind of situation where I’m not 100% full-time photographing, but need to be able to quick-draw to get the shot on short notice. Reportage and naturalist is the primary use case, and that’s where I find the most pro value from it personally. But I can see the same for If I’m a park ranger on the watch for poachers, a spotter on the coast of Ukraine, cop or other community defense professional and need to snap events with photographic detail. If I was on a flight to the war tomorrow it’s a hard choice for me between an XT4 or an A7s3 for which camera does a better job of keeping me alive and not getting me killed when my head’s down at the wrong moment.

    Just curious......if having a non-stacked filter is so detrimental to fast and accurate autofocus then how are Sony and Canon killing everyone else with their big slow sensors? Maybe Fuji should figure out what sort of witchcraft Sony and Canon are using and just copy that. I suspect it has more to do with processing power than the speed of the sensor readout. Maybe it has to do with the X-Trans CFA? If so they should ditch it in favor of lighting fast autofocus tracking.

      Sony has disgusting amounts of cash to dump into AI for autofocus. Canon makes their own sensors and they are veterans with enough resources. The camera/imaging department of Fujifilm doesn't have the same level of R&D budget. Fujifilm has stopped being a camera company long long ago.
