Well I've never felt the need to throw my computer on a rock, or in the water, or dump water on it, so therefore I'd never waste $5,000+ on a laptop. This is just Dell's version of the Panasonic Toughbook. These things (Dell/Panasonic) are awesome for law enforcement and military where they're left in extremely hot or cold vehicles in terrible weather conditions, dust, dirt, etc.
This goes to show how extremely tough they really are. Great video and demonstrations.

@@sleepingbeauty2545 Some do, most actually just use a regular laptop or netbook. With some systems you have a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the vehicle's diagnostic port, leaving the computer sitting on a desk somewhere, even some types of scope equipment is like this now as well. The amount of technology in today's mechanical shops is pretty interesting, and I've seen a few shops with mobile carts with either the Dell or Panasonic "toughbook" mounted inside with drawers of testing equipment to pick from, you simply roll the computer/test equipment to whatever you are working on, makes very nice and clean diagnostic stations, and having the toughbook approach, if you can't get the vehicle or whatever inside, being able to wheel it outside in bad weather is a major plus. Tractor dealers now rely on these things too for diagnostic and programming applications.

Nice but can it program a Motorola ht1000 radio ? With all that new software ! Can a dell rep.tell me this with a used and abused 7424 computer test. I heard they make two way radio to lock out radio......
