Updated March 2018 (CEL):
1) Did the Non Fouler method, and now the CEL comes on every 3-4k miles! Before it came on every 50-100 miles. So not a permanent fix, but it helps drastically, and is cheap mod to do! Simply reset the CEL with Torque App!
Update 2/10/2018!
After about 100 miles of Driving. CEL Came on while cruising at 60MPH on the Highway..
CEL (P0420 - Catalytic Converter Efficiency Below Threshold)
90% FIX (lol)
Things i have tried regarding (CEL):
1) Non Fouler Method (Fixes CEL Temporarily! Comes on less often) Simply reset the CEL with Torque app synced to (Dongle plugs into OBD2)
Things I did not have to try:
2) Replace Sensor(s) (Not Needed)
3) Replace Cat(s) (Not Needed)

It sounded best with just the muffler considering it then went to high flow header to stock piping for the cat, weird resonance that way.

Cody Elkin the tone is actually perfect imo. Highway cruising is fine, most of the rumble is at low rpms. I'm very happy with this setup!

There's a off-road one for the Legacy and OB... Fits 2019's so I'm assuming it'll work on the Forester
How well does it drone ? I am really considering this setup for my 2.5na forester. I want a nice rumble but nothing obnoxious like a muffler delete and uels.
Yea i mean its not that bad at all to me. Since i still have the OEM midpipe/cat. All of that is still restricted. So most of the sound is exiting from the muffler
Thats exactly what I am looking for. Seeing someone do it this way is hard to find and It is the way I want to go.
How much sound are you looking for? Do you want something fairly mellow? The HKS is a pretty aggressive sounding muffler. The reason i went with HKS is because i really like the style of the muffler. However its still a little too deep for me at times, however most of the time, im listening to music lol. So if you wanted to go a more Mellow route but still have rumble when you get on it, id look into Magnaflow or Borla Mufflers. Then you can choose a tip to your liking! If you wanted something more mellow sounding/oem looking

muffler delete with the uel headers is to obnoxious and loud. So I am looking for the best of both basically. Do uel headers and a slip on muffler so it will sound better than stock but not to deafening sounds like its the best way to go?
Gotcha! So in your case, i would start with UEL header, and see how you like the sound with UEL Header+OEM Muffler. Then if its still not enough, i highly recommend a Borla or Magnaflow Muffler! They can range from $100-$300+. The reason is that they are well made, and will last awhile, as well as still give you that OEM+ look. Heck if you can even find an STI Muffler, i bet that would give you the sound youre looking for! Great gas smell after letting it idle for 5 minutes and backfires a lot.

GOTT MIT UNS definitely not recommended! The fitment wasn't that close imo. They had to add about 2" of additional piping to the drivers side part of the header to make it a direct fit. However if youre feeling brave, try it out! But I just think you'd be better off spending the extra $100 to have the exhaust shop modify it to properly to fit, and not have to deal with the headache lol. The choice is yours!

Dawson Lockwood they are from Depo! They are rare to come by. But I got lucky and snagged a pair off of eBay!

Yea, i mean it looked fine to me! Then again it was only $100 so i wasnt expecting alot, but it seemed good for the price! The exhaust shop did have to cut and modify it to fit, but was an easy mod for the shop. If youre looking for better quality header i know Borla makes one for the NA Forester, i think around the $600+ range

Not that Ive noticed! Fuel economy stayed the same. The car is already a slouch, lol. I just wanted to give it the rumble :)

I’m getting my first Subaru 2000 forester on Tuesday and I’m f@@@@@@ pumped!!! First things I’m doing is lowering it and exhaust. Is this just the muffler or do I have to do all new pipe with header? HKS brand
Congrats bro! So the rumble comes from the header design itself. Piping is stock until the muffler which was upgraded to HKS. However if you just change the muffler itself, it does have a nice tone! Rumble just makes it that more special :D

Nice!! Well if you want the "rumble" you can pick the Unequal Length Header for fairly cheap. However i do recommend taking it to an exhaust shop because more than likely they will have to modify it to fit, ran me about $100 for the installation and modification. Not too bad though, the UEL was like $100 anyways. Then if you want to add some tone to bring out the rumble you can have an aftermarket muffler welded on! I chose the ricer HKS muffler lol, but you can go with like a Flowmaster or Borla Muffler and choose a muffler tip for that finishing touch!

Anytime! Actually after doing some research the 06+ models already have UEL headers! So you already got the "rumble". So all you would need, is to pick out a nice aftermarket Muffler to bring out that rumble! Are you going for like a Tuner look? Or OEM look?

They are DEPO LED lights! They were very hard to find, and popped up once in awhile on eBay! I actually had to message the ebay seller, and they had an extra set on hand, so i was able to snag them!

They are Depo LED tails! Very hard to come by but I got lucky and found a set from a seller off eBay! Unfortunately the Forester has been sold along with the tail lights :( hope this info helps!

How'd the CEL work out?
So, the Defouler method works temporarily! the CEL use to come on every 50-100 miles. Now the CEL comes on maybe every 3-4k miles. So, its not a complete elimination, but it keeps the CEL off for a much longer period of time!

i ask cause mine already comes on occassionaly and i read somewhere to disconnect the battery and reconnect and let idle for about 20 mins and so far the last time i did it it hasnt come back on for 600 miles and counting (first time i did it it came on about 100 miles later) so i just "passed" my emmissions test the other day.

Yup if you get the P0420 code only, immediately after doing the header install, the code is because of the aftermarket header. I did the Non Fouler method and the CEL comes on like every 4-5k miles now instead of 100ish!
Where you find this taillights?
I found them on ebay! Just keep checking, they pop up from time to time. When i first saw them they had 3 sets, so i started saving up to get them. Each day i checked 1 was sold. So by the 3rd day, they were all gone. So i messaged the seller if they had anymore in stock, and luckily they did! So i was able to snag a set. But it took alot of hunting, patience and persistence lol
