"Make me happy now" lol. Honestly I really enjoy your videos. They show N scale as a viable option for a future pike, and they give insight to the yardmasters perspective and thought process. So last Monday when I asked the Yardmaster if we (my welding crew) could get in and look at some frogs, and he says "No" before we finish the sentence then gives me that look and fallows up with "We're quite bloated this morning", I know what's going on.

Dean, Most excellent work. A thought here..you could email scripts out to freinds so you would not need to be the Mel Blanc of the model railroad world. Just record the phone conversation.

Ah, but the voices of the recurring characters have already been established. New voices can only be used on mainline through trains. Well, unless that yardmaster gets his ass fired... 😂
Why does he always say "Make Me Happy Now"?
good question. Back when I was an actual yardmaster we had a switchman who would say "Make me happy now" at least 20 times a shift. He was essentially asking for less work.
"Make me happy now..." with some funky beats... :-)

I work for a class one in a yard that is very much lost in the woods so to speak. When I'm on our one yard job I'm pretty much my own yardmaster in addition to conducting. That opening sequence hit a little too close to home. Been in that exact situation more than once and you perfectly captured the "I'm about to lose my shit" moment; although my 'make me happy now' usually comes in the form of a "Commonnnn mannnn" from 888's crew when I give them 15 minutes of extra work

yeah, that voice was fun to do, but I suppose it came out a bit intense...
I just picture Steve Martin in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles shouting "You're messing with the wrong guy!", and that audio drifting through the whole scene. I enjoyed this video, looking forward to the next one!

AWESOME!!! Usually I don't watch every minute of ANY video, but I loved yours...especially when you "told off" the superintendent at the end! LOL. Because of your video...I'm even more intrigued about everything that goes on at rail yards!! Bravo to you sir!
The best part for me is that he knows exactly when I'm going to want to fast-forward and he does it himself. The sped-up sections are prefectly timed and give exactly the right mix of reasonably realistic running speeds and not taking all day to get anywhere.
Absolutely top notch, thank you for taking all the time to make these videos. Your layout is an N scale inspiration, definitely one of the top N scale layouts featured on Utube.

Thanks Michael - there's only one guy behind these videos (me) doing all the voices, beats, scripts, throttles, etc which is why it takes a while to produce. The "make me happy now" character was based on an actual switchman who worked for me when I was a prototype yardmaster in the 90's. He'd say that at least 20 times a shift, not to mention having to get home to a "hot date" with some "Wild Turkey"...

The bit about customer service brought back horrible memories of when I was a cashier at a grocery store.
I work at a hotel, I deal with impossible demands often, and if I don't satisfy them, they too call corporate and those people probably have never worked at the Front Desk and have NO idea what is really what. I told one of them 'You set the rules, and I'm following them and getting cussed out by both the guest AND you!'
