    Crazy as this sounds, I'd love to see some kind of full-blown lore video around the Oregon Joint Line and how it all came together in-universe.

    What an awesome stage for trains to run across! Sure hope the UP conductor was not hurt badly, however. Thanx for posting and for "taking the chance" of a BN Milw session, think it looked great.

    Just found you from Large home layout from a year ago and subscribed. What a spectacular layout. I think it’s the first time I’ve seen this area modeled and wow did you do a great job. It looks so real, I want to be a passenger. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow! Brings back memories of my days at Washington State University (Go Cougs!) during the first years of the BN and the last years of the Milwaukee's Pacific extension. I hope you made a few videos of BN and MLW trains running uninterrupted over the layout.

    I've always loved experimenting with swapping eras or even entire railroads on routes just to see what they'd look like with different rolling stock on the tracks. I guess you could say this scratches that itch.
    Also wow, there's a lot more people at these sessions than I thought.

    • @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125
      @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      agree! It was really fun seeing the BN and Milwaukee on the layout. We've had up to 16 guys at an op session, but typically more like 10-12.

    Whew!
    Glad you made another video
    Concept is awesome. Very creative to freelance the trackage rights to fit the scheme. I know it was lots of work (and you prob don’t want to hear this-) but those BNs and MILW units look pretty sweet on your layout.....

    • @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125
      @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree - at some point I'll probably bring the concept back for additional sessions. I was only 7 years old when the BN formed so my NP and GN memories are fairly dim.

    Great video Mr. Ferris, I’ve enjoyed watching your other videos on yard operations. Have you thought about doing on for day a railfans perspective? Or one from a dispatcher perspective, with all the different trains that could run in a day, I believe that’d be fascinating

    • @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125
      @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, I have been thinking about doing one in the style of all those Virtual Railfan live streaming cameras that have been popping up on TH-cam

  • @BandanRRChannel

    This was a lot of fun to watch, and it really makes me wish I had more space for my 1970's era "Southern Oregon and Pacific" freelance. One question: How does the car tab system work? It looks like the various tabs are color coded, is that for destinations?

    • @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125
      @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks blaze, here's a description of my cartab system from OJL operator and real-life BNSF dispatcher Chris Palmieri meridianspeedway.weebly.com/car-tabs-on-np-oregon-joint-line.html

    Say has the model railroader people ever do a story or have you and Oregon Joint Line layout in one of their books? it'll be cool to remodel your layout using base maps in Trainz. its Trainz a new era thou some people play TRS19. Just wondering cause it'll be cool to model after it.
    Also if you had more room would you add more to the layout? and if so what would you like to add to it?

    • @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125
      @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - if I had more room I would probably just spread everything out and make the industries bigger.

    I'd love to see more videos of this 70s session of you have them. Primarily because I model both the BN & MILW in that era.

    Are there plans on adding just the trains and cars of the other two rail lines to run on the layout that you have now or are you planning to expand more on the layout

    • @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125
      @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this was a one time deal - we'll be back to the NP and GN from here on out

      @oregonjointlinemodelrailro4125  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @BalticNotHudson I can see returning to the concept at some point. I need to make some adjustments to the scheme - the poor yardmaster at Monument was slammed.
