To be fair the factory sounds for Serum were like made in like 2016-ish, so they are gonna sound dated. Expansion packs and libraries on the other hand is what makes Serum still viable.
@@Brendan-Black 7 years ago is a long time ago bud. So much has changed since 2016. I do agree some of the "dated" patches do still sound pretty cool in modern times.
Actually they sound kind of "rubbish" because the FX chain is off. As soon as you add some unison and FX, these sounds will start sounding cheesy. The magic pipe preset is cool, add a little distortion and Haas effect to it and it will sound really cool.
Would i even need this if i already had the minifreak soft synth? This is a serious question - I'm new to the world of soft synths and I'll definitely be picking up the full version of Vital, but after hearing this video i dont see how I'd be needing serum if i already have the minifreak

better than all of them. Omnisphere I think would be ok for certain sounds but the rest sound trash. I can understand why Serum is at #1 these days and used by many famous artists. It sounds very close to hardware synths but I still think Sylenth1 is the best of all time. Serum's quality, clarity and brightness is close to Sylenth1.
Thanks to your videos, I might have to get Serum and Diva for edm and perhaps Omnisphere down the road! What drum vst do you recommend for edm- or do you just use loop and one- shot packs?
Theres free patches for zebra at uhe patch library. I highly recommend alot of them, especially michael kastrup ones. Very good bnb sounds in those (700ish) theres total of around 10k. Did i say its free? Zebra faxtory presets are 15 years old and focused on showcasing synths capabilities rather than bnb(updates have brought newer ones too) Zebra has really cool oscillator warp modes and since its now 99€ with all the uhe commercial libraries+zebrahz id encourage to try it.
Agreed. Crazy sound design options but overall it just sounds like no low harmonics unless you do some subtle layering I guess. Similar problem with all softsynths though to be honest.
@@CuriousPassenger Omnisphere does a lot more than just samples. It also includes a complete virtual analog synth. It does both. The perception that Omni is just a rompler is not accurate.

yes. it's a must. I can tell you r are smart.
