I found a neat trick for Serum. I don't think anyone has found this before but bother me if you have 1. Set Osc 1 to a saw wave and set Osc 2 to a square wave 2. Set Osc 2's warp mode to "FM from A" and set it to 65% 3. Set Osc 2's phase knob to a triangle LFO ranging from 40% to 60% 4. Set Osc 1 and 2's fine pitch to the same LFO You should now have a cool sounding "waoaw" lead thing. The reason behind why it has that sort of formant-type sound to it is because modulating the Phase knob changes how both waveforms interfere with each other by changing Osc 2's position (phase) on the audio line thing or whatever. Also the FM thing makes it sound even cooler.
You can also use serum as a sampler!!! I was mindblown when i found out. A cool trick is to take a real life recording. A plucked instrument works perfect in this instance like a single guitar note or a bell sound. First, what you want to do is create a wavetable out of that. In the formula section in the wavetable editor (it was shown on the video around 7th minute mark). Pay attention to the pitch of the sample, C0 might not work as good as C3. After you generate the wavetable morph it (either mode can work, up to your preference) and maybe consider removing the fundamental (again up to your tastes and needs of the sound) Then export the same sample onto the noise oscillator (yup!) Essentailly, noise oscillator is just a sampler with bunch of white noise loaded in but by all means, if you want to have a cat meow in serum, here's how you do it. Route LFO1 to WT POS of the generated wavetable putting in onto a saw shape (so it goes from down to up, looking moreless like this "/") and play around with unsynced rate of the LFO1 to match the speed of the sample to make it sound organic. If you do it right, the effects are mindblowing!!!!
Using modulation of the formant filters, I managed to get serum to say "yeah hop" and, if I start the sequence slightly earlier (with the midi notes), "get off." It sings. 👍
Thank you for this amazing video! We are extremely new to serum and late to the party! However we really starting to love serum! You can really create some high quality sounds! Happy Holidays bruh and keep up the amazing work and keep making these video! Thanx again!
Search for a TH-cam video, "how to make serum sound more vintage." I found some useful knowledge from that video in regards to the digital harshness you mentioned and making serum sound less sterile. Also, some tape saturation will round out some of those harsh high-mids and bring in some fatness in the lows and low-mids.
holding alt and dragging the lfo to OSC A doesn't do anything for me. Very useful video tips though, I just wish the custom lfo to the oscillator would work for me.
I have a question: can you use the effects section for singing? It would be great if the effects could be routed via sidechain to a vocal channel, which would be a reason for me to buy this thing, because of the reverb.
Thanks for great video! Can u please tell me how to type anything in wavetable formula parser. The only thing I managed to type was letters while holding shift but then I can't type in digits

Great video no bs
Thanks!
So does Serum make any smooth, warm fat sounds or does it all sound super tweaky, digital, aggressive Scrillex vibe?
yes
I mean I used it to synthesize an old console boot up sound (similar to xbox 360 or classic playstation) so yeah
just got it and first things i made were warm happy pads
Thanks 🙌
Hmm, FM/Phase modulation with one of those drawn insane wave forms. I'm curious how that would effect certain bass sounds.
This is very very very veeeeeeery helpful
Thanks!
Great video. very informative. :)
Thank you for your feedback! :)

Serum comes with two plugins: Serum and Serum fx. You can use Serum fx as an fx plugin and use all of Serum's effects.

Hey with duplicating LFO shapes into a wave table ...it doesn’t do it for me, I have the latest version but I’m on pc. What am I not doing?
How do you edit the waveform in serum. you didnt show that.
u alrite mate are you doing any videos on how to make jump up dnb sounds from scratch
