Imo, The Smoothbore Hitting The Neighbor's Dog Would Give Charges, But Other Than That, Not Much Was Outside Of His Ability. People Broke Into His Home And He Was Defending Himself.
Probably not very good as soon as one of them started trying to run away no longer being a threat and your decision being to stab them to death and not alert the cops at all… Plus the whole running around with colonial weapons and cannons makes it look more like you were honestly hoping they would break in so you could murder them. There are different laws on a state by state basis but overall you might be better off disposing the bodies in a lake or smth.
