Awesome stream guys! Tim’s new mic sounded great and you both were cooking! 🔥 Thanks for answering my question, I’m excited for the Cannibal video later this week! You guys rock! 🙌🤘
years ago I remember reading about Neanderthals and how there is fossil evidence of them eating each others bone marrow, there was a theory that proposed that it could have been a sort of ritual funeral practice, like consuming and carrying the souls of your ancestors, rather than just basic cannibalism. This all seems similar to what was happening with the weirwoods in the past and I wouldn't be surprised to find that all these horror stories we hear about Skagos turn out to be misunderstandings of something much more ritualistic and magical
@@robbfisher220several times I've sat and thought about the adventures Osha and Rickon had on their quest for Skagos. I think it's safe to assume Osha had to kick a** several times which is awesome
You really are bringing light into this world… literally. Not literal light… but you are literally bringing the metaphorical light into the lives of so many (I assume) and I am one of them. Through the medium of TH-cam videos and live streams usually talking about game of thrones, dance of dragons, etc. But I’ve said it before. My favorite part is the parts of yourselves, you and your fellows, your good vibes, good example of respectful, loving, caring, honest, self loving, examples you provide for everyone. Sorry when you talked about the last pet of your game in a bit more detail this video I thought about how literal it is that you changed your destiny or grabbed hold of it and at least from my perspective that I’m trying to share with you, and literally brought light into the lives of so many.
Thank you David, genuinely and from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being an example of these things we are all so short on, and most don’t even recognize as a priority. Thank you
I would expect not only the return of every child character we've seen but even another generation by the end of the story. This is a story about inherited sins.
Coming later and missing the stream❤!!! Still much love and a ton of respect for David and Tim!!! My fav asoiaf people! Both have such a natural and relatable style in my opinion ❤❤❤! Adore them both 😊
1:13:47 David Lightbringer I was thinking more about the Elden Ring stream; in particular the bit about Ranni the Witch being a spirit with no body that manipulates a doll with magic. The Others also seem to be spirits that use ice magic to give themselves bodies. That lead to the question: “What would their original bodies have been?” And, I think the most obvious answer if the weirwoods. They were literal tree spirits, the faces of trees, like the one in the Blackgate. The original Green Men were the trees faces.
To add on, Azor Ahai sets the trees on fire in order to get the green men out of the trees. And then he kills Nissa Nissa, using her blood as part of a virtual, which would also probably involve carving a new face into the weirwood(s). It mirrors the catspaw assassin, setting the library on fire and then giving Cat the weirwood stigmata
I didn't have a good answer for the Freyja myth stuff, but after time to marinate on the Others as former Green Men idea - all the dead tree symbolism in the sigils seem to point to that. We know the seasons are messed up and so would the seasonal changes for trees (Green leaf weirwoods?) Leaves brown in the autumn, fall off in winter, grow back in spring and turn lush in summer. The Others as Green Men are like trees that died in winter. Their leaves never grew back, and they are perpetually frozen. Points more to what lays at the Heart of Winter? Probably a great dead frozen tree with a body buried beneath, tangled in the roots, it's spirit haunting the WW net. The Others as a hive mind are also like the physical manifestation of that spirit's will.
Looks like I have to go bingewatch every other livestream you've posted 😂 I wasn't sure if such long-form content was my thing, but every single thing talked about is so interesting I just can't miss a thing!
Love the idea that Rickon might live! I always hate when books or shows kill off a character just for shock value and that’s what Rickon’s death in the show was
Elasmotherium is an extinct woolly rhino that is often called the real life unicorn. Though more recent research suggests it did not in fact have a giant horn
If Wyman was simply a climber, theres many more paths with less resistance than bringing a child from skagos and trying to reclaim the north for him. I believe he loves the starks and wants to restore proper order
As they are talking about Hodor holding open the gate, I remembered a scene in The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe. When the monster is holding open the gate for the soldiers and he's getting hit by arrows.
Finally, I've been dying to see more theories about Rickon because everyone just sort of assumed that George wasn't going to have enough time to dwell too much with Rickon and just dismissed his role in the story. Remember, George's favorite house is Stark, it all started with them
Possible Manderly issue: he pledges his fealty to Rickon, and as much as he may want to support Jon, he's the kind of guy that believes in an oath and has to support Rickon if there is a fallout.
Freys will be playing Lord or the Crossing against each other until Shaggydog wins. :O Frey war sounds as a lot of fun. "When you play Lord of the Crossing, you either win or you die, there's no middleground."
Considering the themes of Martin's writing within asoiaf, I think that the Manderly's motivation is altruistic. The Freys and Boltons did a bad thing, and the Manderly's are going to do what they can to right things. Now, you might be thinking, "How can that be? Don't only bad things happen in asoiaf, a grimly realistic depiction of the impossibility of good to prevail over evil?" The answer is that good things CAN happen in asoiaf... but they come at a cost. The Manderly's will surely not survive the series because this altruistic path has been chosen, but their sacrifice will pave the way for a better ending to be possible.
I cannot believe I missed the LIVE Rickon stream! Dag Nabbit! Ha ha. Time for the replay! Praise be to Garth the Green, Grey Waste Tim, Rickon and Shaggy Dog, and- of course- the Lightbringer himself!
Benjamin Gunn, Ben Gunn, Benjen. In Treasure Island he's the one from the original crew they find stranded on the island looking for the treasure. He's also played by Miss Piggy in Muppet Treasure Island
25:01 I feel like Blood Raven could probably see that Bran or a child like him (A stark boy?) was going to be his successor. Like the weirwoods are eternal and allow you to become unstuck from the regular flow of time. Like I can imagine, Blood Raven having visions of his death and seeing a some echo of Bran there
I know some have argued that Rickon is stronger than Bran since he was already in the crypt after Ned’s death. But they are glossing over that Bran is paralyzed and he has to wait for Hodor to come and strap him into the basket and then head down. I just find it unlikely that two Greenseers are born that close together when it should be like 1 in a million chance you are even born one.
I came to the conclusion that Rickon will be Bran's heir a while ago, because I have a different view of the ramifications of Shaggy Dog's name. The point of a Shaggy dog story is not that it's ending is meaningless, the point is that it goes on and on and on, and therefore it's ending is less important than its length. So Rickon naming his wolf Shaggy Dog doesn't foreshadow his meandering life leading to a pointless death, it foreshadows his story going on beyond the the narrative of the novels. Btw, I suspect that Bran will be king of the North and the Riverlands with Rickon as his heir by the end of the story, not the Seven Kingdoms. But this will be very important because the worship of the old gods is strongest in the North and the Riverlands and the power of the old gods will see a resurgence under Bran. I don't think that the institutions of the Iron Throne or a royal house will survive the Long Night. I suspect by the end of the story most of the Seven Kingdoms will rule themselves, perhaps under the guidance of a Stark or old gods hegemony.
Jon doesn't need to be resurrected, he's perfectly healthy. But he'll have a problem with Tormund's mind tied to him and/or Ghost as Tormund's body is dead now.
The RICKONING! You guys always deliver! Love a good Stark stream. Thank you, both!

I've been dying to see Rickon go mad medieval dark on everybody. I hope he eats Walder Frei
I think manderly is acting unselfishly, in later books he’s acting like he’s fully prepared to die in the boltons captivity

I think I’m going to have to start working “mayhaps” into normal conversation.
Careful! Soon you'll be like me and using "mine own" in normal conversation 😅😅
@ as long as it never comes to calling my uncles “nuncles”
I’ve added “methinks” and “mayhaps” like it’s just completely normal. It’s wonderful.
I’m not sure how you’ll do it. Mayhaps you’ll find a way.
Missed most of stream live but ive just restarted this bad boy! So excited 🎉
Glad you can catch it at a time that works for you

Great stream. The King Richard/the Neck was an interesting find.

Possible Manderly issue: he pledges his fealty to Rickon, and as much as he may want to support Jon, he's the kind of guy that believes in an oath and has to support Rickon if there is a fallout.
The Red Wedding being a "Feast turned Murder" and the Reverse Red Wedding being a "Murder turned Feast" would be gruesomely ironic.
Finally my goat Rickon Stark getting the limelight raaaaaaah 🗣️🗣️🗣️🐺🐺🐺🐺

2:19:03 green is for jealousy. So the jealous creature eats its own and possesses everything, maybe?
Frey’s have an Ottoman Sultanate succession vibe. 40 heirs and a free for all until there’s 1.
If you take this association further, the Twins is like Istanbul: a vitally important trade hub and defensive location.
