Were we scammed? Why did the price suddenly go up? Was it a misunderstanding or a scam? What's your take?
Anyway as you see in the video we found it funny so no hard feelings towards our Jaipur bus dude regardless of scam or not. I liked him.

1st they call the name of bus (non ac sleeper) in India people use to say like this only because they dont have any other option rather than name it self to give detail of bus if Mr Bald wants the AC bus they will say it like AC bus sleeper only.
2nd you can see in a video he was asking again and again Mr Bald wants to sleep or sit in his jorney because he wants to be sure.
This shows us this was miss communication.

1:03 He says "Twelve thirty", that is the time of departure, not "two hundred thirty rupees", as you understand. He tells you "one thirty pm" on 4:45. So it means it's better to come at Twelve thirty and the bus will start à One thirty PM. He's not a scammer, but he works for a private company.

What actually happened here is that when the old man said 12 30 (bus timings) then Mr Bald misheard it as two hundred thirty and believed it to be the price at 0.56
and then again when Bald reconfirmed it at 1.02 then this man unknowingly nodded or just ignored because its visible from his face that he is not good in english

Hey, is your name really mr bald? if not, try to use real name in tickets, if something bad happens, this ticket of yours can be used as a proof of your transport, and it must contain real name as in your ID.
I agree it's miscommunication...the dude was with English like you are with Hindi. He was emphasizing the time 12:30 pm for departure. You thought he was saying the price 230 Rupees. Obviously, he is a very bad listener and only interested in quickly making the sale. After taking you to the departure point, he said the timing of bus is now 1:30. My guess is he found out that the 12:30 bus is full and he sold tickets to you without first making a call so he doesn't lose two customers to a different tout.
Also, if you would look at the receipt, it does say 900, so I don't think he scammed you. He was in hurry to get the business.
Tip: Usually, bargaining in long bus routes is not common. Bargaining is more common in intracity taxi/rickshaw rides. On bus stations, you would find lot of touts who take cuts for bringing in customers to travel companies. They are not employed by travel companies.
As you probably learned, postpone your payment until you are pretty sure of the situation.
Anyways...because of situations like this, people now book tickets through apps which tell you the exact location and time of departure.

No, they ARE scammers. I was travelling with my friend to Kota they sold me tickets saying that it is a sleeper bus and it'll arrive around 9AM. After waiting for two hours, they said the bus will be departing from another bus stop, we ran with our heavy luggage and boarded a bus only to find out that was a govt. bus and we need to buy tickets separately. I called and thoroughly bashed them up and yet they shamelessly returned only 60 percent of the amount. Jaipur is a scammer paradise.

He said "Two Hundred Thirty" . Maybe 230 means 12:30 but at 4:44 he clearly says "1:30 pm" so it is unlikely (but not impossible) that he said 12:30 before. It seems it was 230 normal seat, 450 sleeper.

450 for non AC sleeper bus is fine it's was not a scam.
Even though its cheap doesn't mean it's not a scam, if someone tells you a price then 50 seconds later nearly double the price it is literally a scam. They lead you in to believe something and change it that's literally what a scam is

Mr Bald an 8 hour journey never costs you 230 trust me.. India is cheap but not that much.. He charged you fair.. Even 450 is less for one person.. He told you the timing as 12:30 which you misinterpreted as 230

It's wasn't a scam he said 12:30 you heard 230₹....you can't get a sleeper bus from Jaipur to Jodhpur for 230₹ he gave you ticket on actual price....but yes there are many scammers in Indian tourist places who do scams with Indian travellers also but this time it wasn't a scam
