Hey Joe. Thanks a lot for the recommendation. I paid the $19 for the TESOL (although I already have one) and then IOA kept sending me promotions for more. So, I bought a total of 6 for $90 (avg. of 15 bucks each is great) 1) 120 hour TESOL Certificate ; 2) Microsoft Word; 3) Microsoft Powerpoint; 4) Speech & Language Specialist; 5) Excel Training; 6) Introduction to Whole Food Cooking. I already have an average understanding of Microsoft office, but the courses will go into much more detail and give me lots of tips to take me closer to an advanced level. :)

They are not accredited by the U.S Department of Education. It might be good for some schools or certain purposes, but it doesn't appear on their list. I believe this is useful information for those who live here
Good point. As stated, it's mostly a time-efficient and inexpensive certificate that teachers can get to teach online. Most (if not all?) online institutes accept it.

Thanks a lot Roz! The CELTA course is noooooo joke. It's like 10 hours per day for a straight month! I think it's a great course, but maybe a bit archaic and focused a lot towards classroom teaching rather than online teaching. I could be wrong though... I haven't done a CELTA! 🎓
Joe Milne it focuses on classroom teaching and it focuses on adult learners. It’s a very intense month. I got to the course jet lagged and very frazzled and my notes were illegible. CELTA trainers also have a bit of a reputation for being inconsistent in grading and bullying trainees, and I consider that to be accurate. With online learning, you get time to do careful note taking and work more efficiently. I might do the course as a refresher, but sadly I don’t think anything replaces the real thing especially in terms of recognition. All the employers know CELTA/Tesol

The course was way better than the CELTA, nicely updated for teachers who have made the transition to online and independent teaching. I guess having teachers who are bullies is a Cambridge culture thing. It's nice the CELTA never has to be done twice, and I have survived at least three rounds of national education policy changes along the lines of 'Teachers without a CELTA will be fired' in different countries. These small, unknown certification courses can close down anytime; Cambridge has been around for 800 years and probably isn't going away anytime soon. It does stand the test of time.

Hey. They send you a pdf certificate, not a hard copy, and you can print it out yourself. This certificate has been approved by iTutorGroup, vipkid, DadaABC, palfish, etc.!
I went through the INTESOL that the company suggests and I got a grant that paid for it so that was nice. I am currently working on a TESOL through Coursera in Arizona State University. I believe this one is more extensive as each course is 6 weeks and there are two programs for it... forget how many courses per program. I have to apply for financial aid for each class (so far in my second and about half way done). I would be interested in you going through those notes.

I paid over $1000 in 2018 to get a 100 hour TESL/TESOL/TEFL certification from Oxford Seminars, but now I am required to get a 120 hour certificate for working at iTutorGroup. Do you know if I can just add a 20 hour module to my current certification and with they accept that, or do I have to start over with a 120 hour course? Oxford Seminars offers 40 hour modules but they cost $400. I really don't want to spend that much because I already have 10 years ESL experience and who wants to spend a lot of money if not necesssary?

Hi there, for offline ESL teaching, I would recommend a more substantial course-one in which you get a hard copy certificate. This certificate isn't necessarily only for online teaching, but it is best for that. Good luck. :)

I believe that you get a PDF cert, and you can contact IOA to try and get a hard-copy or a new cert with the cert number if your current one doesn't have one.

Thanks for your comment. It's certified to teach English online for most online English companies that I've heard of, but I can't guarantee that it'll get you a job as an ESL teacher offline. It has done for many.

It's legitimate. It's a bit of a shortcut, in a sense, especially for online teachers, as it's an acceptable accreditation for most online schools. It foes have quality info, though.

Im trying to a pick a tefl certificate and Im really tempted to get a $20 dollar certificate as opposed to a $1000 because a lot of blogs say that its recommended otherwise the quality is lackluster can someone please confirm this thank you
Hey Matthew. I think $1,000 for a TEFL certificate is way too much! You don't need to pay that much at all. The $19 one that is in the description of this video is a great deal... Was $119, now with 84% discount. I recommend it, but it's totally up to you bro. 👆👍

Hey. They send you a pdf certificate, not a hard copy, and you can print it out yourself. This certificate has been approved by iTutorGroup, vipkid, DadaABC, palfish, etc.!
I went through the INTESOL that the company suggests and I got a grant that paid for it so that was nice. I am currently working on a TESOL through Coursera in Arizona State University. I believe this one is more extensive as each course is 6 weeks and there are two programs for it... forget how many courses per program. I have to apply for financial aid for each class (so far in my second and about half way done). I would be interested in you going through those notes.

I paid over $1000 in 2018 to get a 100 hour TESL/TESOL/TEFL certification from Oxford Seminars, but now I am required to get a 120 hour certificate for working at iTutorGroup. Do you know if I can just add a 20 hour module to my current certification and with they accept that, or do I have to start over with a 120 hour course? Oxford Seminars offers 40 hour modules but they cost $400. I really don't want to spend that much because I already have 10 years ESL experience and who wants to spend a lot of money if not necesssary?
Honestly, just do this 19 USD TESOL and they'll accept that. You can do it in a day.

Hi, I've earned my IOA TEFL and actually liked the course very much. Question: Is there a way an employer can verify my certificate using the certificate number? For example, I hold a US teaching license in history & special education and we can input our license number to verify if its still good. Thanks.

Hi, Elaali! Thanks for your comment. I think that this certificate is best for online teaching, I can't promise that it'll be accepted for offline teaching, but you could always try. You'll have it forever, either way!

Hi there, for offline ESL teaching, I would recommend a more substantial course-one in which you get a hard copy certificate. This certificate isn't necessarily only for online teaching, but it is best for that. Good luck. :)

I believe that you get a PDF cert, and you can contact IOA to try and get a hard-copy or a new cert with the cert number if your current one doesn't have one.

Thanks for your comment. It's certified to teach English online for most online English companies that I've heard of, but I can't guarantee that it'll get you a job as an ESL teacher offline. It has done for many.

It's legitimate. It's a bit of a shortcut, in a sense, especially for online teachers, as it's an acceptable accreditation for most online schools. It foes have quality info, though.
