    I actually felt nostalgic re-watching this video. I also realized that I miss this particular background :)

      Aye, it's making me want to buy another x450 :P
      My last one survived quite a while (a few years), but I dropped it nib-down and it has never been the same :(

    Thanks for re-uploading. I remember watching the original. My Jinhao X450s are still very much in use, and with their broad nibs, write like a charm. Got to give credit, where credit is due. No they are not the $1,000 pen, but they do the job of producing a good writing experience. Thanks Stephen!

    bought three of them, one for my jacket pocket, one for my quick grab pen drawer, one for who likes to start writing with a fountain pen 😄🇳🇱

    My X450 is now my default work pen. I like absolutely everything about it, the grips on the section, the nib, the weight. Paid around $5 for mine, bet five bucks I've spent on anything pen related. The only problem now is I got weary of spending Big (or Bigger) Bucks on a work pen.

    They have fixed all the issues with the pen. The cap, the feed, and the nib are just the right tightness in fit, the converter is better quality in make, and in my case, the pen never skipped, wrote without feedback straight out of the box. It is a good pen and writes comparable with a Pelikan M805 - that's saying a lot about the pen.

    Between my fiancee and I, we have a few different jinhao pens, and they all seem to work exactly in the same way. The converters won't draw up ink through the nib so we have to fill the converter then prime the feed, the nibs all have just the slightest amount of flex, and they're all heavy. I actually find that you get a few quirks from Jinhao pens, but they all write very well, especially for their price.

    I've had good luck with my Jinhao x450, too, but it tends to like the wetter inks.

    These are great presents. At Christmas I bought 3 of my friends one of these and a bottle of diamine ink. (less than £10 per person) best present one could buy for that money I think.

    I haven't used the x450, but I do own the 750 in stainless. Heavy heavy heavy, but absolutely unbeatable for the price. Comparable to the Noodler Ahab in my mind. But I still find myself using the Monte Verde Intima in Lava Red more then any other pen haha.

    I just bought an X450 and it worked amazingly for the first day but it seems to dry completely overnight, I tapped it lightly on the page for about a minute and got nothing, gave the convertor a half turn and still nothing, I had to actually force ink through it until it dripped out the end before it would write again, it's a shame because it's such a nice pen, is there anything I can try to improve the flow?

    Thanks for the video. I have a Jinhao 9009 hooded fine point pen that is hard )impossible) to use because not only is it extremely dry after starting, but after a few minutes of disuse, the ink will stop flowing completely. How do you deal with a hooded nib to adjust?
    Thanks,
    F

    I have two Jinhao x450s. I kid you not, but one of them has a buttery smooth nib that writes even better than my Pelikan 800 (which is a great writer itself). Then you flip it over and it produces a beautiful fine line, and never skips or hard starts. I paid $3.88 including postage. Sometimes you luck out in life.

    Bought one from Amazon this week 05/03/21 for £11.50, this by far the cheapest pen I have ever bought, yet it works and works very well, nib is Fine, any faults ? well in my pen the cap does not post well, to lots of people that would not be a problem, it writes very well using Diamine Writers Blood, and well pleased with it, will i bur more, yes I will, excellent value, good quality , this guys video says it all

    I love my X450. I don't have many pens and the the most expensive one I have is a Lamy All-Star. The Jinhao write a lot better than it. I also got it for $0.99 but mine included the shipping.

    2/18/19I just bought a jinhao x450 on e-bay for $3.59 free shipping and some other jinhao's for around $1.59 free shipping.

    Can you do a video on how to draw ink into the converter? thank you!

    • @sbrebrown
      @sbrebrown  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dana Arist It's easy! Just submerge the nib and feed into a bottle of fountain pen ink and operate the converter by twisting the knob.

    I've ordered one of these, it says 11-27 day shipping, oh well
    I've read though that this kind of pen is a bad lottery. People have ones that skip, fall apart, etc I hope it isn't that case, and if it is, that I win the lottery :-)

    The whole idea of pricing the pen at 99c and then make up the cost by inflated shipping is simple: if the customer demands a refund they only need to pay back 99c.

    • @Commoncurates
      @Commoncurates 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, that doesn't really apply in this case. They were literally $0.99 with free shipping back when this was filmed. They're around $2.90 with free shipping now. Chinese sellers on eBay can do this because the Chinese government subsidizes the shipping. The can price it at that low of a cost and still make money off of it.
