- This is my experience with the PUIG Engine guard for Liz's 2021 Honda Rebel 500. Below are links to the Pipe slide guard and the paint touch up for the pipe after a drop.

I just got 2023 Honda Rebel 500 ABS SE and had the engine guards installed. I would love to install it myself but I was not able to remove one of the bolts. OMG! I wrestled half a day with it and finally threw in the towel and had a Honda guy take care of it. I can't wait to get that bike on the road this weekend.
What problem did you have? Access?
@@californiahikebike I’m a female ( weak I guess lol ) and I just could not unscrew one bolt on the right side . I bought sockets and breaker bar to have better clearance and it would not budge . I even asked my neighbor and he couldn’t get it off . I got blisters on my palm from wrestling that thing . Does Honda use thread locker on their bolts? Thankfully the guy from the Honda shop that I purchased the bike was able to install the engine guards. Whew.

Thanks for making this video, it was just what I was looking for ! I also really appreciate that you actually put the bike over to show how the guards protect. It seems though that the guards will not protect either the footrest or the brake lever which makes me reconsider a purchase.
@BOMOAOK You're welcome sir. You are correct in that the guards do not protect those small pieces. However, it is much more expensive to replace or repair the parts the guards DO protect! 😎 Ride safe....
Thanks for the guide, worked for me. In my experience, removing the engine bolt was very difficult. I ended up using the double wrench technique to get it to budge. And even that was pretty hard.

Thanks for the tutorial. How tight did you make the top two bolts? Any chance you can bend the frame from them?
I honestly can't remember. I don't use a torque wrench but tightened it by feel. I don't think you would bend the frame unless you really screwed it down and I don't think that's necessary.

Honestly I didn't find other options I was confident would fit at the time because of the new model year. So I can't say.....
