  • We jump into the world of electric bikes, exploring the differences between electric and analogue bikes and answering why you should absolutely test ride one as soon as you can.
If you've ever asked questions like 'What is an ebike?', 'How fast can an ebike go?', and 'Do I still have to pedal?'. Then look no further for your answers.

*I bought this for my friend. She is about 5’3”. The **Latest.Bike** is pretty big, tall and a bit heavy, but robust and performs well. Highly recommend*

Don't forget folks, 250W if you want to be street legal, unlimited if you go offroad. Amazing fun.
    A nicely presented, concise video.
E-bikes are brilliant for mobility impaired peeps who want to keep up with "The Boys"...

Almost all mid drive pedelecs without throttles
are 250 watts . So the most important factor to consider is the NMs / torque output. This can be a huge difference . from 40 nm all the way up to about 120 on the TQ motor . The most popular motors are Bosch , Brose and shimano . these are all rated very similar ,at about 85 to 90 NMs .

I thought that if an eBike's power and speed exceed the specifications of the laws set up for them they merely automatically classify as a motorcycle and would then only require a license, permit and insurance to ride like a motorcycle does. Am i wrong?

Here in Kansas they do not have laws on electric bicycles. They dont care how many watts you have. only thing you must have is pedals

I bought the e-moped instead (Vespa looking type) no registration in Canada at 500w (Disconnect the limiter) now its like a 750w.
They have lock steering with alarm ,weight 200 lbs and hard to steal so you do not have to lock it to a post ever single stop, plus it can carry a lot of stuff without a wearing backpack all the time.
And the wide soft seat does not try to impregnate you.
Mind does 50 km range on a charge and it goes as fast as a young person on a 10 speed petaling his guts out.
I did buy the optional $700 20ah LifepO4 battery 5 years ago . Im buying the 30ah next time then im good for 70km.
    I love mine.

Upon discovering that a brand new 125cc motorbike was cheaper than the majority of e-bikes, I just had to investigate… This is what I discovered. 1. Nearly all e-bikes and components are built cheaply in China. 2. Unscrupulous companies import these, stick a brand name on it, and then sell it to you at astronomical profit margins. 3. Very few of these brand names have any after-sales support, especially after a few years, when spares are almost impossible to attain. 4. E-bikes in inexperienced hands can be very dangerous, with injuries more akin to those from motorcycles than from push bikes. Conclusion, in the ‘world of wheels’ e-bikes seem to be the new gold rush, through ruthlessly exploiting middle class conscience.

having a 250w motor dosen't mean it stays at 250w it could pump out 500w on some bikes like it does with my ebike.

Everything you need to know about E bikes ? not really, UK laws as usual are highly restricted, the only thing most people need to know is you are not allowed on a public highway on any e bike that can propel itself without peddling so like most affordable e bikes you see online with a twist/throttle that exceeds 6mph and is over 250 watts is illegal, its a joke 2022 you still can't own and use a E scooter or self-propelled E bike on the roads.

  • @felixalbion

Very expensive, range is often a lot less than stated, reliability is often a problem and batteries ( like all rechargeable batteries ) gradually lose power so range drops even further. Batteries cost a fortune to replace if you can even find one. Should be looked on as a very expensive short term novelty toy.

Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
