🤦🏾‍♀️I'm just as guilty. It's one of the saddest and cruelest cases, ever. I started watching when Alex started testifying ("test-i-lying")and have been binge watching ALL of the testimonies ever since. I'm very impressed with the judge. I felt I was in church when he started the sentencing portion. May our Heavenly Father continue to strengthen and comfort all of those impacted so negatively by these murders. I am equally sad for the families of Mallory Beach and Stephen Smith, whose lives were cut short by association with this family.🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿😔😔😔

I agree. I am not an attorney, but why are all the questions about the $$$? When will they try to nail down one speck of information about WHO killed his wife and son.... who had probably already been told he was stealing, and were pushed into an argument where they told Alec tht he was going to jail and they would not be there to wait for him.... that is why he grabbed his son's gun and shot them with it. They were trying to get away from him.... he was already in a rage, you can tell by how he barked at the dog to GIT AWAY!!!! He was being backed into a corner by his long suffering wife and son, and turned his vile anger onto them. This is being programmed for a movie. Now they know Alec was there with his wife and son, wan angry, maybe they are just tying up looe ends. Heartbreaking Loss of two innocent wonderful people by a control freak.

The Murdaughs had such a casual relationship with firearms. I am pro-2nd Amendment and think people should own guns (and I have no problem with hunting for sport, target shooting, etc), but you cannot ever lose respect for the danger that guns pose.
In all of the testimony, I notice a repeated pattern demonstrating that the Murdaughs (Alex and Paul in particular) treated weapons with a casual apathy that is not at all befitting of responsible gun ownership. It is just another revealing trait in this family: treating everything in their life with a certain amount of disdain & contempt. They had their little collections of people and things-everything boiled down to the family name and materialism. And when Maggie and Paul (who were mere commodities to Alex) outlived their usefulness to him, he made use of another family commodity (his guns) to get rid of them. It’s horrifying.

I definitely think Alex Murdaugh killed his wife Maggie and his son Paul. Maggie wanted a divorce and Paul had been in boating accident. Paul was drunk, hit a huge piling under a bridge and Mallory Beech, who was only 19, was thrown from the boat at 1am as they were headed back from an oyster boil. Sadly her body wasn’t found for 5 days. 😢There were 4 couples on the boat, including Paul and all 7 were begging Paul to slow down. And Alex was being sued for her death. In Alex’s mind, Maggie and Paul were liabilities. The boat didn’t even have lights on it. Court TV TH-cam is covering this case. I think tonight they will be evaluating the trial today at 8pm central time.

Looks like a lot of people don't know the family too well. Alex may be the sociopath who was at the head of this family but he was not alone in the darkness that surrounds this family. The enabling and covering of questionable ethics and criminal behavior that went on in this family goes beyond Alex. Yes, Paul and Maggie did not deserve to be murdered but neither did their Housekeeper Gloria Satterfield, or Mallory Beach or Stephen Smith and if anyone still believes their deaths were "accidents", then you need to learn a little more about this family and their extremely dark dynamics.

    • @blovell86
      @blovell86 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Mallory Beach’s family do not believe Paul intentionally killed Mallory. They wanted him held accountable for her death because he caused the ACCIDENT by drinking and driving.
Gloria Satterfield’s family do not believe she was intentionally killed. They have not questioned her death. They just didn’t want Alex profiting off of her death when he lied about claiming she told him before leaving on the ambulance that she tripped over his dogs so that he could make a legitimate insurance claim “for them” and steal it. They believe she had an accidental fall and have never claimed they believe Maggie or Paul intentionally killed her. They were the ONLY TWO AT THE HOUSE WHEN SHE FELL. Alex was not.
The only family that questions the way their loved one died is Steven Smith’s family, and with good reason.
Maybe don’t watch a documentary that makes a weird suggestion like all these deaths were suspiciously intentional. That wasn’t what the documentary was showing.
Crazy you have more outrage than the actual victim’s families (aside from Steven smith’s family who still doesn’t have answers) the beach family has expressed their sympathy for Paul and Maggie’s murders from the very beginning. The satterfields have as well, and they have even forgiven Alex for stealing their settlement checks…… maybe you need to do a little more research…..

Maggie wanted a divorce, she was living in their beach house. On the way to the farm, she called her best friends and told them she had a bad feeling about meeting him. But his dad was dying and Alex guilt tripped her to meet him. His parents lived close to his farm there. Also, Paul had caused a boating accident because he was very intoxicated and hit a large piling under a bridge and a 19 year old Mallory Beech was thrown from the boat. I think it speaks to Paul's favor that he had such a friend, regardless of his actions when drinking. It also shows that the Murdaughs were beyond inclusive when it came to their children's friends, and that that love and effort they gave was not affected by the horrific situation that Alex had worked himself into with the drugs and the means he took to get them. This young man's testimony has given me an insight into the family that I didn't have before.

@@hannahward4703 I have to think that Paul learned that dysfunctional, abusive, demeaning behavior somewhere. The drinking excessively seemed like it was blunting some personal pain within Paul. And when he drank he became a mean & acted out or made horrible decisions that harmed & killed his friends. He needed help. He was still young enough to fix his problems if given the proper opportunity to do so. But help wasn't coming from enabler parents like he had. They also seemed to want to sweep things under the rug. Not get him real help. Why? Would it tarnish the family name/image?
The Murdaugh's displayed a manicured public image, but clearly what was really going on was something else entirely.
There was definitely entitlement with that family. And everybody now knows Alex is a sociopathic, a narcissist, a drug addict, a murderer & a thief. What else was he doing or capable of? Did anybody truly know him or WTF was really going on? I'd think it was dysfunctional & not so happy behind closed doors- in spite of all the advantages, wealth & opportunities these people had handed to them in life. Narcissists do not make good spouses, nor good parents. They only care about themselves & how they're perceived by others on the outside. Any abusive, dysfunctional behavior is only shown to the immediate family. To friends, neighbors co-workers they are superficially charming. It's an act. And I'd bet the narcissistic personality disorder goes back in the Murdaugh family for generations. NPD usually does. It messes up the people within a family & carry that dysfunction on generation after generation unless somebody breaks the cycle.

I wonder how many law firms do the same thing? You call the lawyers and they tell you they're working on it, these kind of cases take time an are expensive. Then one day you get a phone call telling you they're not moving forward with the case, then get a letter saying the same, dropping the case without predgeidice . Giving you two weeks to find another attorney, but them also telling you it's impossible to do so since you've been thru discovery. And they're right, it's impossible. Been there. My husband was injured during a surgery. Long story, but he sued the Dr. Everything seemed to be going well over the matter of two years. Then bam. We had gone to the lawyers office to do our deposition, the lawyer for I'm assuming the insurance company was a young man right out of law school. Now my lawyer had to tell us, that he knew this young man, and was his mentor during law school. But! That didn't interfere with him fighting for us, be assured. What could we do? It had been such a long time already and Dr bills were piling up, my husband had to retire early for he was now disabled.Maybe a week after that, we got a letter telling us they were not moving forward. That a Dr specialist in Florida didn't see any negligence. We were mailed a copy of our depositions, including the Dr that caused the injury. No where in the papers was a deposition from a Specialist. I called and talked to them about it, they refused to answer my question of where that deposition was. Just that it was over. My two weeks to find another lawyer had ended. And hung up. This may happen more than we know. This is the first I ever heard of such. Why settle for back then, thirty five percent of a million or more dollars, when you're dealing with older people that don't have a clue of how all this works. There were only two insurance companies in Ga at that time, that did mal practice insurance for Drs. I called both, but they couldn't talk to me about anything. But one did say, if I got an attorney they could talk to him or her. My husband by then was ready to forget it. He had been traumatized, in pain, and just trying to make it. All the pep talks, and planning before the surgery, for he was scared. He wasn't one like most men, to go to Drs. He did have trust in them. Not now. Neither do I.

I'm just curious, did they try to get you to settle before they dropped you? Sadly, I've had LOADS of experiences with attorneys. When you're suing a hospital, insurance company, store, some entity like that, the law firm will front you money if you need it because they know they'll get it back. But they'll only loan you as much as they KNOW they'll get back. Then when it's maxed out they'll tell you to settle. It's a numbers game.
Attorneys will always talk big and tell you all they can do in the initial visit. Once you retain them, it always changes and they make it seem like it's your fault. They really want to settle. They don't want to go to court. It takes up too much time and money.
They find out how much money you have and if you are nickel and dimming it, they'll just try to get the 10K retainer IN CASH and they drop you. That's mostly for personal, like divorce or custody.

The attorney on the stand was in tears because he had no idea that Alex was crooked. Tonight at 8pm central time, Court TV reviews the trial today. I definitely think Alex killed his wife, Maggie because she wanted a divorce and he killed Paul because of the young girl, Mallory Beech died in the boating accident when Paul was driving the boat drunk. Watching his expressions during these testimonies, I always wonder if Alex was instructed by his counsel, to react a certain way, like fake crying with the birthday video. Narcissists & psychopaths are hollow & don’t have real emotions of sorrow, compass & empathy, so they have to “act.” They, do however react when it comes to THEMselves & especially their pride & money.

Grief and shock so terrible that you lose your ability to speak. Been there, done that. Unless you somehow became aware that such a thing can happen, it seems unlikely to me that he would have thought of doing this on his own. When I say I lost the ability to speak words, I mean it was GONE. Like I had never learned the physical part of communicating, making sound with my breath and vocal chords. As guilty as I think he is at times, other times I think that there is no way that hew would have done such a thing. Watching that video of them laughing together just a short time prior to the murders plus friends/sons testimony of the families relationships .... man, I just don't know.

He stole and what he was thinking. Like you don’t go to law school with the intention to become a theif. Was it family pressure? Seems he never said no to his boys or wife. He’s certainly not the first man to kill a spouse or child

    • @lp6196

Not everyone who owns guns in America are obsessed with them or go hunting. That being said when someone breaks into your home or threatens someone you love you want more than a butter knife to defend yourself. Criminals will always find ways to get guns. It's in our Constitution that we have the right to bear arms. Trust no one especially the government.

If I spoke to him I would ask him how he's going to defend himself against tanks and drones, but I will just continue to keep my distance. People have gone gun crazy and everytime another shooting happens, gun sales go up
