What I hate is when prospective employers call you and catch you out of guard, instead of email you and let you know that they are going to call you to perform a phone interview. That happened to me few days ago.
If anyone ever did that to me, I'd mention to them that I'm with my family (children, mom, doctor's office, etc.) right now and would like to know a good time to call back.
Tone of your voice. Energy and confidence. Listen to what is being asked. Take time to answer. Take it as a conversation. Make them like you. Make them want to meet you. Have clear answers. Do not ramble. Be clear and concise. Prepare you answers ahead of time. Get points across. Record your voice. 3rd thing they look for is technical fit. Knowledgeable qualified and a right fit. Be sure the role is appropriate for you. Most importantly they look at your resume. They assess you in the phone interview. Make sure your resume is top notch. They will be comparing you to other candidates through your resume.
What if this your first every job with no work experience at all how can you compete cause I feel it’s twice as hard for people who never work before and trying
Right, because an interview is merely a likeability contest, and your merit/competence has nothing to do with getting hired. It's all about how likeable you are.

I have a general interview question. I had a Zoom interview yesterday, and my interview was with a panel of 3 people that included an HR person. For the most part I felt like I was giving solid answers to the questions that the interviewers had for me. When it came to me asking questions, I asked one question I thought was very relevant; "What goals and expectation does this department have for someone filling this role? What does success look like for someone who is in this position?" I think that is a fair and relevant question to ask. Believe it or not, you know what I got in response? : "That would be a question to ask the hiring manager if you are selected for the second round." .........How does a search committee not know what success in this role looks like? I was interviewing for a Disability Specialist position at a college in NYC by the way. Should I read into this as a red flag that the interviewers do not know what outcomes they want to see performing in the role? Perhaps you have some valuable feedback to contribute.

I had an English phone interview last week and it was a mess, because I was not prepared for it. I got so nervous, so English is not my first language. They just called me and started the questions. She gave you two tips, either call up a friend and let them interview u and be brutally honest about assessing how it went, or record yourself and you assess your own self. I find myself talking confidently but I know i ramble too much sometimes and doing it with a friend usually helps as they can tell me to redo it over and over again.
This video helped me a ton! It is good to write down your answers and say them out loud. I was asked questions on the phone and was able to answer right away with confidence. The last 5 minuets of the call I was saying "thank you" over and over again because I was getting compliments on how confident and experienced I came across as! Write it down, your cv/resume is your sales pitch! Know it inside and out!!!!
You mean we write our answers to paper while we are listening to question? I think it is complicated, and it can affect understanding of question precisely.

Phone interviews use to be a walk in the park for me.... but lately I've been tripping up and been feeling nervous idk why? I have recently graduated from my business degree and even have industry certifications with relevant work experience too.... yet I haven't received an offer yet (despite clearing the first 3 interviews at multiple places) and now it's been 3 months going on to 4 months.... why is unemployment so high for new grads?? I even check out the LinkedIn profiles of people who get the job or had the same job prior and they have less qualifications than me?? I honestly believe confidence/personality (and maybe even race) plays a huge factor when conducting a "cultural fit" - never mind all that, I'm just keeping my head up and doubling my effort which is why I'm here
I tend to ramble because interviewers are very reserved and coy. They want to say oh its just a conversation but not they are not giving you anything like one would in a conversation (which is supposed to be a two way street) so my brain is suddenly very confused and I start making sure I've hit all the points because in a vocal conversation no feedback usually means they are lost or have not received all the information. I have learned not to take jobs where the interviewer is all stoic- I like a natural flowing conversations, not interrogations with smiles and glass walls.
I’m interviewing within the next few hours and feel extremely comfortable with the data I can present. I’ve met several people in this organization already to at least get my resume a look so that feels great. Hi Linda, I have a phone interview scheduled for later today and I am taking your advice on tips 1-3. Tip number 4 has me a little concerned because I have a two-page resume and while the second page is very relevant to the job requirements, the first page might seem more obscure and not as relevant. I hope that following your guide on tips 1-3 will probe the interviewer to ask how the first page pieces are relevant to the job. Great video and I liked and subscribed!
Just did one my two phone interviews I have for today! I'm for of an in-person interview but thanks to this video I felt more condifent even though I know I had a couple hiccups, helps that the interviewer was very nice!

I've been trying to get another job. After 4 years I finally got a good job. 9 months later I was laid off, I got immediate interview afterwards. I found that I got the first, second, and third round. The fourth and final interview I got a no because they felt I didn't communicate myself very well.
That 4th point about resumes was an eye opener. I've always wondered why recruiters call me for 1st interview just to be looked down on for lack of experience mid-call.... now I know why.

When I'm asked a question on a phone interview I usually count out loud, 1, 2, 3 and then I answer.
This was way funnier than it should have been 🤣🤣🤣
Hard to prepare your answers when you don't know what you'll be asked...

I wish I saw this before my phone interview:( I got so nervous I felt like I was even stuttering during the interview. It was horrible specially for an agent type position I had apply at!!! I normally do well but it was a bad moment 😳
I'm planning on doing a phone interview tomorrow but there is no "job position" listed because they just want the people to call the store. Also, I have never worked before so, I don't have a resume. So, the hiring staff needs to train me and work with me because I don't have anything to give them.
Plenty of Role Play with a trusted person/persons who will put you through your paces - and who will also give you lots of honest but helpful feedback.

I have a phone interview scheduled for later today and I am taking your advice on tips 1-3.
Tip number 4 has me a little concerned because I have a two-page resume and while the second page is very relevant to the job requirements, the first page might seem more obscure and not as relevant. I hope that following your guide on tips 1-3 will probe the interviewer to ask how the first page pieces are relevant to the job.

Just did one my two phone interviews I have for today! I'm for of an in-person interview but thanks to this video I felt more condifent even though I know I had a couple hiccups, helps that the interviewer was very nice!

I've been trying to get another job. After 4 years I finally got a good job. 9 months later I was laid off, I got immediate interview afterwards. I found that I got the first, second, and third round. The fourth and final interview I got a no because they felt I didn't communicate myself very well.

That 4th point about resumes was an eye opener. I've always wondered why recruiters call me for 1st interview just to be looked down on for lack of experience mid-call.... now I know why.
Talking about interview energy but you are already boring me with your one tone talk. At least change your tone if you're going to talk for more than 3 minutes.
