Accent is better than his horrible fake Boston accent in "The Departed" (and Nicholson's, and Baldwin's, and Sheen's, et al). People will get used to it in three minutes once the movie starts. It sounds like an Oklahoma accent to me, I was just listening to an interview with Woody Guthrie (who was from Oklahoma) and it sounded in the ballpark. No worse than his accents in the two Tarantino movies, I don't see anyone complaining about that. PS: Great that you gave props to Thelma!!!!! PSS: That last shot reminds me of a similar one in "Casino", early on, when the narration is introducing "the bosses back home", they're sitting eating a table (darkly lit room) and then they stop and look at the camera.

The Casino shot! Of course! You nailed it. Yeah I don't think the accent is bad, I just wasn't expecting it. I'm sure it'll be great in the film. And we always give love to the editors! They save our movies every time. Thelma Schoonmaker should be a household name IMO.

Yeah the accent is accurate for around here anymore.
It's become the standard. Within the Osage Nation though grandparents born in the 20s around here did not sound like this, their accents speaking English were more subtle. Some non-Natives sounded like this a bit but his accent is reflecting Texas more because that's where Ernest Burkhart was from.
Nowadays with many this has become the standard accent, it's somehow become thicker and more exaggerated ..

Why are these reactors jumping on the accent within a 2 minute trailer? It will be quite suitable to the movie I am sure, I have no issues with it.
Trailer is superb absolutely! I have been waiting so long for this movie.

Because the accent is so realistic it's weird hearing it. Most if not all actors that were born and grew up this part of Oklahoma (and there's a few like Bill Hader) but they learned to drop it in acting school or something it gives me goosebumps. I grew up in Oklahoma. Near Tulsa.

I believe the accent is suppose to be a Native American accent. I don't know if that 4:08 is DeCaprio speaking. This takes place in the Osage Nation 😂and I suspect it is suppose to be an Osage speaking. 7 7

@@robertcastro8435 And Osage is in Oklahoma
      It is an Oklahoma Accent

    • @TTM9691

It's not a Native American speaking, it's DeCaprio and it's an Oklahoma accent. (And I agree: two seconds into the movie, people will forget about the accent, just like every other movie. The Departed is filled with the absolute worse fake Boston accents of all time, and I never heard a complaint, nor about his fake southern accents in the two Tarantino movies.

I think the accent sounds a bit strange right now because the character seems to be reading from a book, and he's struggling. So it sounds a bit jilted.

@@kevinben1852I mean, look at his face in this trailer.
There is no way he is not playing the main villain with that face.
Scorcese can be many things, but subtle when it comes to showing evil people smirk he is not.
