Need to ask, any tips for vocal folds cyst? Having one in my right vocal fold. It seems to get better with medicine though, I am able to do vocal fry, which was nearly impossible before. Is there anything I can do besides medicine or surgery?
SLP here! With organic changes on the fold you need to be a bit careful. Best thing is rest. Let the body try and heal it. Try some gentle SOVTs! (I know that they are cringe. But for rehab they are quite effective!) You might need surgery though... Depending on how long the cyst is already there. Are you in contact with a good ENT? This is not about voice building you want to heal yours! Once its better you can bang on it again 😅
@ Hey, thanks a lot! I have little idea for how long the cyst is there. But the ENT specialist told me it is not very big. She said it makes the fold not adduct properly though. But she offered me conservative treatment and I did not even was first to ask. So I take two form of pills and they lent me an inhalator which i had to return couple days back. The results so far are puzzling to me. I have no idea how it went so far. BUT! The voice became light years ahead. In terms of singing the voice is very strong and resonant and vocal production seems super easy now, at least in very comfortable area. I am not singing or practicing, i am resting as you recommend, i just try the voice in a very easygoing way here and there. But there are more things. I am able to do vocal fry much more efficiently by itself. Before the treatment is was an inhumane effort to make easy vocal fry. Now it requires very little to almost no effort to make vocal fry. In terms of vocal fry I had this little exercise which showed the vocal folds have troubles adducting. It was sort of very light vocal fry. Now when I do it it seems to happen just right and it does not show any form of strange breathy noise but proper vocal fold adduction. Other this is low notes. I was able to hit notes in profundo range but with the cyst this part of the voice was nonexistent. Now it seems back almost entirely, and it is always there (only if I have lot of stress or the meteorological factors are i play - highly sensitive to them, sucks) and it is more resonant and loud than ever. And the speaking voice itself changed drastically, being low and resonant if i want and it is also very resonant and easy and with speaking voice i had big troubles of speaking very intimately. Now i am able to be extroverted with my voice if needed, it can be loud but not overly shouty. All of this and i think more has happened in two weeks since beginning the treatment. So what is your opinion on this?
