The "I'm still learning" hit me so hard. Such a great remark. Makes us smile and also reminds us that the mistakes we continuously make are part of the process. A never-ending process. Thank you
I recently switched entirely over to the M system for weddings (still keep an R6 in the bag just in case). I have been VERY happy with how it has subtlety changed my style as well as gotten me to shoot WAY less photos throughout the day.
I shoot events with a mix of mirrorless and M cameras, and the M shoots far less images but there are more keepers, too. The mirrorless cameras are for when I need rapid autofocus, extra reach and video, and the M is for the extra special images.
Check out Jeff Ascough. A Leica shooter in the UK who shot Leica film weddings back in the day. Now he and his wife are doing street photography and seminars and is wonderful.
I love it. I have recently started using my x100v as a dedicated b&w camera on wedding days. Cheaper than film, fixed 28mm, with the ability to colour grade if something would look better in full chroma, or just use the baked in jpegs. Do you think the Capys will “okay I pull up”?
The best Leica M11 review! The pictures look beautiful! How many frames did you miss because of manual focusing all of them? How difficult was to use a range finder at a wedding, instead of autofocus? I’m really curious about your upcoming Q3 experience, too!
I'd never have the balls to use a Leica M as a main cam, but I guess it'd be fun as a second shooter. Might be a fun third camera for snapping candids at a reception, too. Even when I shot two Fuji X-Pro 3's (which admittedly was like two months because I couldn't stand them), I was always nervous using the OVF and used the tiny EVFs all the time. I have a friend back in the PNW that shoots everything on Leica M's, and her coverage is really great. She even shoots real-estate on them. And yeah, new toys can be great inspiration. I always need to be doing something a little different or I get bored and burned out. It means taking some risks, but also keeps things exciting from my perspective. The longest I've stayed with one system is like five years and my photos were getting really bland.
Thank you so much for sharing. These are lively, authentic pictures! I must admit that your other wedding pictures mostly have a bit more sparkle, but I guess that is logic as here you use a fairly wide lens, stopped down and no post production. Looks like you used the Summicron v3 or v4, which are not very sharp either. It is pretty tough to nail focus on a wide open m lens, too - was that one of the reasons for you stopping down?

Very interesting "Behind the Scenes", beautiful and amazing Leica pictures, great job 👍.

I’ve loved Jeff’s work since the DWF days. He has a TH-cam channel now!

Thanks for the awesome video! Did you run into any issues while using the camera?

I love this idea! I might pick one up and give it a try.
🔥 As always

Is the m11 b&w only? Or did you specifically choose to only shoot bw
There is a monochrome version, but I just set the colour one to BW. Raw files will be in colour. Jpgs in bw. It’s also how I have my Q2 setup
