And its a long shot to project a college player to be all time great in passing like Brees. And he doesnt have the Potential other QB in this draft have. He thinks Baker is similar to Case Keenum. Tw1 Colin is a tv personality/ former journalist. He is not an analyst
He has a bias against the state of Oklahoma. Find someone that plays for OU or the Thunder that he has anything good to say about. Also, he has said before that he is a family friend of the Darnolds. So he has a clear bias towards them. Plus he thought Ryan Leaf would be a better QB than Peyton Manning.

1. He’s an Oklahoma quarterback, they’ve never had a QB be successful in the NFL
2. He’s from the Big 12. No Big 12 quarterback has ever had a great nfl career. Additionally, the defenses in the Big 12 are a joke which doesn’t prepare you for NFL defenses (and also helps explain partially his high completion percentage). The Big 12 is dead last over the last 5-10 years in terms of Power 5 conferences in NFL talent (they had 6 more players drafted than the American in the past 5 drafts).
3. His entire career his been played in Air Raid/Run N’ Gun offenses. He’s taken very few snaps under center and hasn’t played a pro style offense.
4. He was a walk on. Twice. That’s not to say your “star rating” determines how good of a player you can be (obviously he’s shown he is an elite college football player), but it does say something when very few college teams offer you a scholarship and you have to walk on to a program, twice.
5. Character issues. He’s already had trouble with the law, he’s shown he’s very emotional and doesn’t handle confrontation well.
6. He’s undersized.
Personally, i think he can be a good nfl quarterback but there are a lot of reasons to be concerned about him coming into the league, especially as the #1 pick and especially going to Cleveland.

Did you watch a Lions game last year? Every game when Stafford didn't play great the Lions struggled. Their defense has been mediocre for years with non-existent running game and a decent secondary. Point is, the Lions, though they have a QB, are still nowhere near contenders.

Listen you can say whatever you want at this point because none of these guys have played yet. But at the end of the day we can only go on what we’ve seen. Baker Mayfield was the most efficient passing QB in the history of CFB TWICE!!! He is more accurate than Darnold and Allen and he’s got a stronger arm than Josh Rosen. He’s thrown for over 14,000 yards and 130 touchdowns to just 30 interceptions in 3.5 years as a starter. He has more experience playing well and playing in big CFB games. The things needed to be a great QB he exemplifies. Making others better, working hard, playing with a chip on your shoulder, passing on time with accuracy, commanding an offense and a locker room. Darnold was a safe pick but through film, advanced stats and just plain old football Baker Mayfield dominated all of these guys.
Colin also said Sam Darnold was the franchise QB the jets needed and the best QB in the draft. So…..
Draft day once again (2023) and I happened to look at this one as a recommendation for a good laugh at how bad analysts are. LOL

It’s like this, Cleveland has been picking cookie cutter quarterbacks for 2 decades and not a single one has worked. They see Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, non prototypical quarterbacks. They are taking a shot with Baker Mayfield. They have nothing to lose. They have been the laughingstock of the league for years. The Browns as an organization came to the conclusion that Baker was the best qb in the draft. I like how Colin thinks they are wrong and he is right, even though they are the same scouts that were there for Brett Favre and Arron Rodgers in green bay. Smh.
Well, flip a coin. Ryan Leaf at #2 and Tom Brady at #199 should settle the issue for all time that nobody knows anything about the draft. In recent memory they have taken an alcoholic, a 28 year old, and a second round guy who should of stayed in school (even his college coach said.)

Great pass rush puts tremendous pressure on the qb. Rex Ryan said it best Every QB in this league hates pressure. The best qb’s find a way to play through it and even then getting hit every down can still get the best of em. It allows your db’s to gamble, and capitalize on bad throws. Gives them confidence and takes the offense out of rhythm. Look no further than josh norman, DRC, Every good defensive team the giants have ever had so on and so on.

I disagree. If you draft a QB that goes bust, it can set your franchise back for years. I'd rather go defensive playmaker every single first round pick and then end up with a team like the 2000s Ravens, Bucs, or the current Jaguars team.
