- Rob, from Revere Overland and I head out to the Cascades to find a high-elevation lake that has been on my list of places to visit for a long time. The trail to get there was challenging and fun, but nothing my Bronco and Rob's Tundra couldn't handle!

I will never get tired of coffee montages, especially from the beautiful camp sites.
Hahaha that’s good to know. I’ll have some coffee montages in Utah coming your way soon lol
@@OFFTHEGRIND Lol!
Never be sorry about another coffee montage dude. Coffee is life and this is how it should be done when out overlanding 😁💪🏼
Awesome video!
Towards the end, you said you wanted to take your young son on more trips. Couldn't agree more. Making memories with your kid(s) is the best part of being a parent.
I started taking my youngest daughter on camping trip every summer. She loves every minute of it. She even went off-roading with me once and told me she had the best time.
Thanks for making awesome contents and keep up the good work!
Definitely getting my son out a lot more this summer. Like your daughter, he absolutely loves being outside and I can’t wait to give him that opportunity more
Another great episode mate. As a father who has raised three boys camping my advice would be go for it. Kids that grow up camping learn so many lessons in life and they will be drawn to the outdoors and not computer screens. Dont miss that opportunity! Keep it up mate! (by the way the colour grading in your vids is magnificent!)
I fully agree and am trying to get him out as much as I can. We went out this weekend and I fully realized the difficult part of taking the fam out is not him, it’s the dogs. They are an absolute pain in my ass out in the woods lol
Seeking family time is what brought me to overlanding. I hope you’re able to get your family out more often as you mentioned.
I hope so too. I learn something new every time I do. I’m finding that it’s not the wife or son that makes it hard for us. It’s the dogs. Which sucks cause I love them
Love the look of this camp. High mountain lakes are the best. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Great job capturing it on video!
This spot is absolutely stunning! Thank you!
The juice was definitely worth the squeeze. Great capture. 🤘
Man, that looks amazing! Watching this as I get ready to go on a 3 day trip in Eastern Canada. Keep up the great work! Oh, and put as many coffee montages as you want!
And yes, get the family out there! Your kids will cherish these memories!
That looks like an awesome trail. And the end reward is amazing. May have to get our passports and come that way just for that.... And ya, that's the rule of thumb on bolders and big rocks ... Never straddle them, put your tires on them and drive over them (whenever possible). .... Awwww DUDE! take the whole family. Get the kids hooked early. My son was wheeling at 2 Weeks (daughter would have been just over a year old) .. and they have better seats then us! Ours used to fall asleep straight away when we hit dirt ... And when it got a little rough, they had a blast. Then! Seeing things through their eyes ... Everything becoming new again. I really enjoyed that.
Yeah it was difficult to line up the tundra on that obstacle with such a long wheelbase. Was hoping she had enough clearance to not have to reposition but it was an easy fix. I’m definitely working on getting the kid out more. We’ve been out as a family once since posting this video. It was rough but we learned a lot and it’ll get easier the more we get out
Ya, good point on the Tundra. Every vehicle is going to be different, hey. ... Ha ha! Our first time out with the kids was a disaster to. I dunno, I like my family, so I like doing things with them... Guess I'm weird that way. Hahaha I am currently watching that video (family outting). But even things that are just every day, don't even notice type things are different with the kids around... Like opening the tent. That was awesome.
Looks like Gallagher Head Lake. Went there last Fall in my Bronco - fun road and cool place to camp!
17:15 this is part of why I got the teardrop camper. Something that’ll pull down some mild trails, but also comfortable sleeps myself, gf, and 2 dogs. It’s hard to do with a RTT or bed tent setup.
What a trail & camping location - BEAUTIFUL!!! Wow!
Always nice to find a challenging road to a beautiful spot. Also on my list of saved to go spots. Stay safe.
These are the weirdest looking Jeep's i've seen on an overland channel
Would it look more familiar if it was on a tow truck?
😂
@@OFFTHEGRINDkind of,🤣
Love the response, I choked on my drink, literally. 🤣😅🤣
Spectacular spot! The trees in the Pacific NW are beautiful.
Awesome video David you're really finding your stride. Great camera/audio and editing work!
Great video. Thank you for sharing!
Awesome video! Loved the trail, the rigs, the music, the lake views and the short sessions where you speak to the viewers directly. You've got yourself a new subscriber!
Thanks for joining! And thank y oh for the specific feedback, that is great to know!
Videos and editing keep getting better and better! Solid work.
Thanks so much man!
Great videos man. I’m all over these cascade mountains. Can’t wait to do the bdr here in the near future.
man, glad that youtube show me your channel. It's amazing! Cheers from brazil
Thank you! And thanks for joining from Brazil! That’s awesome!
Seriously great content and cinematography. Loved this.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
That's was awesome, thanks for the video!
Glad you liked it!
Another great video! We had a blast doing that trail just after you did.
Another fantastic video 👏
I was literally in my map program planning a trip in my Bronco to this location when this video popped up, so this was timely and useful. Thanks!
Well perfect!! It’s an incredible spot and such a fun trail!
Love seeing those technical trails! #legit!
That’s what I live for!
Dude ......very cool video! Keep em coming!
Thanks man! You know I will lol
17:18 same boat, bro. And that was also my point of getting my bronco. I’m hesitant as well but i’m going to start small. Take them off road to a trail first for a day. Don’t have the equipment to camp either. But my plan is to ease them into it and also do trails ahead of them, so that when I take them I have an understanding of what i’m putting them through.
My goal is to head out west in three years for about 2 to 3 months to do a big overland trip with them. Hopefully by then you and your family get out and we can meet up for a cool trip.
Hello from Yakima, WA! Just subscribed yesterday. This is the first video I watched on your channel. Something about the landscape told me it was Washington lol. You did a great job on the video. This is something that I’ve had a passion for for years. I’ve been thinking about starting up my own TH-cam channel as well, maybe hitting some trails with local people like you. Good job and keep up the good work!
1st trip I took my wife on was overlanding in Colorado. Black bear pass was her 3rd trail of all time. Lol. Even though she wasn’t excited about that trip before we left she has come to really enjoy it. We just did a big trip to Montana and then up the Canadian Rockies and over to the whipsaw trail in bc. 6k miles total. So she’s all in now.
Oh wow dude that is awesome! She’s definitely all in now! Really hoping to get the wife and son more in to it. Honestly the most difficult part for us is the dogs. They are a pain in the ass lol!
@@OFFTHEGRIND we only have 1 dog. She does good crated at night in the truck
Amazing Views! I wish that I did not live so far down in the deep south. Great video!
Looks like fun!
One of our favorite spots in the pnw to head to. The trail changes every year after the snow melt so always something new to do on the trail lol. Hopefully the bugs weren't to bad! If you want a better view, next time you go up there keep going past the lake. Gets up much higher with beautiful views! My son will be 2 next month, and I've also been struggling on when to start bringing him out with me. I think next spring/summer will be the ticket.
do you have a cordinate for this?
Hands down my favorite video from you. Such a dope spot, I need to get up there. 🤘
Wow thanks so much! I’m so glad you liked it. That spot is incredible and the trail up to it is so much fun! Highly recommended
Woah. No. Way. So cool to see someone close to home with you. Judging by Rob’s plates he lives about 20 min from me!
Creepy! Lol.
@@RevereOverlandIKR! I’m over in Jessamine, too cool.
Haha stalker alert!! JK
Another great edit! Really enjoyin the colabs you've been doing recently. Your cinematogrphy was on point in this one.
Thanks! It’s been a lot of fun meeting these guys and hanging out with them. And gotta give Rob props as he sent me some of his footage from the trip! But thanks!
@@OFFTHEGRIND you still edited it buddy 👍🏻👍🏻
A fun and easy trail. The one next to it is more interesting but there are no full size vehicles allowed.
Thank you for sharing I enjoy watching these journeys. Though my Nissan Xterra is way past its prime and probably not the most reliable vehicle to take way off the grid like that my next vehicle, I will make sure it's able to make these kinds of journeys. Thank you for the inspiration to get back off the grid and off the grind.
Thanks Adam and I’m glad you enjoy them! While these trips are fun, still plenty of fun to have not as far of the grid if you don’t think your car can make it far off the grid! Get out there man! Start small and increase distance slowly!
Great video I can’t wait to take my bronco camping 🏕️
Thank you! Hope you get out soon!
Amazing views!!!!
I know it's weird, but I find it's always important to get water from places you go. Boiled and cooled, obviously, but I feel compelled to consume water from places like this. I'd have filled a bottle from that stream y'alll stopped at.
Nice place and video! 🔥
Always wanted to do this trail. Great video, as always.
It’s such a fun trail, highly recommended! Thanks!
@@OFFTHEGRINDwhat is the name of this trail and lake?
i road tripped and wheeled all of moab with the kids in diapers and into their teens. they are grown up now... kids will do whatever you want to do. they just want to be with their mom and dad. the only downfall is that they do all of these fantastic things and its just normal to them. we worked hard to take all these road trips and wheel allover the west. some day they will get it when they hit about 25 hahaha!!! take your boy, he will sleep the whole time and will wear his arm out throwing rocks in that lake. he won't eat when you want him to he won't sleep when he's supposed to.... but... i bet he'd rather go camping than disney world. my kids told me this... strong work on your channel, its giving me a second wind for adventure.
Ghalleger is one of my favs! Mosquitos are ruthless there though. Haha
You have to eat one of them to show them whose boss.
They actually were THAT bad this trip. Not as bad as I expected at least
@@6point1hemiI’ve inhaled them accidentally before and it didn’t put the rest of them off
I managed with a CRV with my 4 and 2 year old sons. Set up and take down sucks and the memories are forever.
Nice video. Makes me miss living in WA.
Thank you!
Awesome spot. Random question but what’s the sleek little camp stove you have?
There are hundreds of thousands of perfect campsites.
I love your car man
Thanks!
Great video, bro! You gotta get the wife and the kid out there. Nothing better than suffering with someone else with a toddler in the woods.Once he hits the sack...You start making double Old Fashioned's (or maybe triples for you)! True story.
Hahaha man you’re really selling it
@@OFFTHEGRIND Despite it all…I wouldn’t change hanging out with that guy. Also a true story.🤘🏾
Just came across your channel for the firs time, amazing videos! What kind of drone do you use?
Thank you! I use a DJI mini 3 pro
@@OFFTHEGRIND Thnx
I live in Lacey! I had a feeling you were somewhere close to JBLM. Maybe I’ll see you out some time! I’d love to go out with ya sometime. Wife isn’t into camping and stuff as much as me and don’t know a lot of areas around here as I moved here during Covid.
Keep up the good work!
Haha yeah really close. Well if you see me on the trail, definitely say hey!
@@OFFTHEGRIND let’s just say, I drive around for work in a certain type of vehicle in thurston county….lol
Haha 🫡
Hola - back for one more question: I just had the packrax installed on the 2dr Badleands Trailrax. Can you tell me where I can order the Maxtrax boards and mounting bracket you have? Thanks!
TrailRax has a universal traction board mounting plate that goes right on to the pak rax. Theres 4 holes on it that are spaced out for maxtrax

I have a kinda dumb question. Is a rooftop tent so necessary? I like camping in a tent but I've always done it on the ground. I'm looking to getting into overlanding, me and my 2 boys(12 and 10) but I'm not sure if the rooftop tent is rated for alot of weight
That Gazelle shelter where did you get that. I can't find that anywhere.
That was robs actually. I’m not sure where he got it
Found it! Here you go!
amzn.to/43NJPtD
Looks like you’re out by Roslyn, wa. Hawks lake?
Close
Where is this lake at?
Imagine the overlanding possibilities if they still made 2-door trucks with full sized beds. Not only do crew-cab short beds look silly... there's a reason they've been known to break in half when outfitted with a camper.
There’s not many out there like that. Typically I’ll see a Land Cruiser converted to a two door with a flat bed. But a true two door is rare
Is tour bronco stock sas suspension?
Yes it is
@@OFFTHEGRIND nice. Can I ask why you never got a lift? Im thinking about lifting mine but im not sure if I should, I’m leaning toward leaving it stock.
@@dwightk.schruteiii8454Because they are plenty capable not lifted. You don’t want to raise your center of gravity if you don’t have to. The only good reason I can see to lift is to fit 37s.
I’m actually looking at getting a lift soon. With the additional weight and the stock shocks being really light, it eats up my ground clearance so I need a lift to support the weight
@@OFFTHEGRIND Yea I noticed your weight the fender gap and thought 😳 I might have to do the same since you have a lot of the products I want.
I’ve been looking at the Eibach spring lift kit to try to keep the stock suspension. You might be interested in that as well.
Are you willing to share the route and coords for this site? Would be much appreciated.
That’s not something I like to do unless they are something like the BDR. There’s been way too many people trashing sites and getting them shut down. Not saying that’s you, but I’m not going to make it public where this is. I’m so sorry but I hope you understand
@@OFFTHEGRIND - I get it! No worries.
I haven't even been to the Cascades yet, but I'm planning a PNW trip next year. I'll make it my mission to find it! lol
@@paleh0rse well I’ll give you central cascades off I-90. The cascades are amazing though. Love that range
@@OFFTHEGRIND - I actually found the location last evening by studying the drone shots and manually searching the entire Cascade range on all the apps. Not even kidding. I then came back here to brag about that - only to find this hint you left me over a month ago. Doh! lol
Anyways, I'm good to go and it has officially been added to my plan. Thank you again!
@paleh0rse i love the hunt personally! I hope you enjoyed that part of it all. That is as big a part of overlanding as the actual adventure!
We’re trying to have a family soon and I’m going to make an effort to take my kid out and experience the outdoors even with the crying in the backseat. Much rather them see the outdoors than spend $500 going to Disneyland for 1 day.
You absolutely should! And I agree with you! Being in the woods is definitely better than an amusement park
Got a toddler and a new born on the way. Im doing the same and got a bug trip planned for when the new born turns 3
No hints as to where this is?
I said it was in the cascades. But with people disrespecting land to the extent they do now a days, that’s as specific as I’m willing to be publicly. Not saying that’s you, to be clear. Just don’t want to blow up a spot and have people come in and trash it
@@OFFTHEGRIND Thank you for not disclosing the cords! I hate it when a spot gets overcrowded when disperse camping! PACK IN AND PACK OUT!
@@OFFTHEGRIND🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
rather hear the vehicles
Knew exactly where you were going like 10 seconds in. Have clearly been up there way too many times…
Well they are filming it and do have cameras in place, so I think we all know when your making a video there is some trial and error and the final video cuts a lot out.
Is it possible to go up there too many times?
You’re overthinking bringing your family with you. Just do it. You don’t need all the fancy stuff to make memories. I have 3 kids, one of which is less than a year old and we manage to explore and camp in a Lexus GX. It’s about getting out with the family, not the stuff we bring.
Yeah I know I am. I’m mostly concerned with if he will have enough food, or be warm enough at night and cool enough during the day. But he’s 2, he’ll be totally fine
I second this comment all you need is a 15 degree Nemo down sleeping bag extra food and a shower kit for the miss and your set they won’t care for the heat or cold just the memory I go out with my kid all the time they love it
vids alright but dont like the music
Please lose the music. I’d rather just hear the trucks and the tires driving over the dirt and rocks.
