Pint-sized luxury! Lexus LBX hybrid 2024 review: Is the base spec of the new city car the best pick?

The 2024 Lexus LBX hybrid is arguably creating a new premium segment, with it one of very few light SUVs that are locked in for Australia. In fact, with the pioneering Audi Q2 recently axed after a single generation, it's occupying a space of its own - until the fully electric Mini Aceman arrives, of course.
Either way, the LBX hybrid has set out to make luxury cars more affordable, which should deliver Lexus not only more buyers, but a younger demographic that it hopes will 'stay in the family' as they grow old. To do so, it's playing the value card heavily by taking the Toyota Yaris Cross' strong underpinnings and dressing them up - and some.
