If i had this kind of money, this is EXACTLY what i would buy. Great reviews Rory, keep them coming i'll watch them all.
@@neelkrishna if you don't care about driving dynamics and want a boat to cruise around it. I do love the M8, don't get me wrong....
@@neelkrishna idk man porsche is much more beautiful and drives better
@@philipf2705 I absolutely agree concerning the M8. It's actually quite a boring car. But if you're so concerned about driving dynamics, why not get a GT3 touring with the 4L naturally aspirated. It costs about the same and is infinitely more emotionally rewarding.
Cooled wireless phone charger?!? Now we are living in the future!!
@@R03333it's better with a wire, but same problem. Fast charging makes heat. Phones, EVs alike. You need to cool them actively to get really fast speeds (and better longevity).
@@Cyrribraeit's almost as if charging something with a physical connection is 10× more effective
I do not mind the hybrid at all, it was bound to happen, but man I wish they kept the analog dial
For goodness sake. That's the one thing that irks me about my GTS, that dial is out of place in a modern car. Thank God they've binned it. Now get over yourself.
@@mauricetoussaint7283 Nope, totally disagree. The analogue dial should have remained, as should the turny fake key starter thingy. The fact that the analogue dial is actually stepper motor controlled is irrelevant, it's how it looks on the cluster even when the car is switched off.
The 911 is still the king
of fatness. Its actually 75kg more than previous version. 50kg more is without rear seats.
Indeed, the car is quite nice. The shirt steals the show in this episode. Rory, keep doing your thing.
They should reinvent the hybrid naming scheme for this car, its not a hybrid to enchance fuel economoy, its an integrate electric motor system that virtually eliminates turbo lag, and giving instantaneuos power on conditions that require it, sort of like F1 cars.
Yeah i was going to say something similar. It's not a compromise in any way and it's nothing to do with fuel economy it's about making the best ICE car possible.
E-Boost would make more sense, and yes, its completely like F1
I am expecting now some other company to say that the electric motor spinning the fan on a radiator makes it a “hybrid” system
@@aliancemd to be fair the Porsche still has an electric motor powering the drivetrain, which makes it a true hybrid.
But they should differentiate the wording between hybrid for performance, and hybrid for rage
It’s a single turbo
He was referring to the base model which still uses 3.0 twin turbo engine.
The best hybrid to come out, Porsche knows their engineering.
Just to bad that they lost some analog feel on the inside 😊
Great video Rory
what they do is they copied existing aftermarket hybrid solutions for older 911 (albeit those did not have electric powered turbo)
The slide transition from track to street… dope!!
I wish the video editor would drop the conversion numbers on the screen. MpH & Hp. 😅
The Targa is gorgeous!
The production quality is amazing
This is what bmw should’ve done
That's why BMW M340i already using similar system call "Mild Hybrid" it's so success 😜😜
@supremeetnel, why do people like you think they are smarter than the people that develop their technology??? Why wouldn’t you think BMW didn’t think about this??? They are doing their own thing and they have their reasons..
@@supremeetnel7707The M5 is probably so dirty that mild hybrid wasn’t enough to keep the emissions down.
@@duffydon1741 BMW said they thought of going this route but chose a big battery instead. So its possible to could’ve chose to do it. At the end of the day this is BMW M we’re talking about i don’t think dummies work in that division. nobody is doing their own thing everybody is doing heavy hybrids. Porches is doing their own thing.
1.9 kWh sounds like it would be plenty for a mild hybrid system so long as the battery can charge and discharge very quickly and do so without damaging the battery i.e. it would need a very long cycle life. TBH it seems like a super capacitor would be better for this job but they take space and are heavy (relatively). A 1.9kWh battery, if discharged in say 2 minutes, could output 1.9/(2/60)=57 kW so if the battery can charge relatively quickly from the turbo and then discharge quickly when on the throttle it could still gave a very healthy burst of energy. It's obviously not designed to drive solely on the battery, just a boost when on the throttle hard.
Lol, bro, I am sure Porsche spent some thinking about this solution.
@@stanvanillo9831 I didn’t say I disagree with them. Where did I say that I disagree with them? I literally said in the first sentence that it’s plenty and then I spent many sentences after that explaining why I agree with them. The only place where I gave an alternative was when I said that a super capacitor would probably do a better job because they have a humongous cycle like (10,000+ cycles) but then offered that it may be a weight and space limitation (and perhaps cost). So again, please tell me where I disagreed with Porsche?
Your reviews are brilliant.
Such a cool car and I really love the design of this particular 911. I can’t wait to see more videos on this new engine as well.
Best automotive journalist I’ve watched. On Rory’s recommendation, I would buy anything.
Fabulous Rory, well done, great review. I loved this thing from the get go when it was announced and have been playing on their website configurating it ever since. I would go for the Targa. The one thing that was a shock was the economy or lack thereof. My only other distraction would be an Artura so when I win the lottery this week I'll be off to both Porsche and McLaren dealerships immediately.
Love your passion and your
Videos mate ✊🏻
professional review , good job!
Great work!
Nice Hawaiian print shirt, Rory!
Fantastic video!
Should have had the analog gauges with the instrument cluster being digital for technology, best of both
Rory is a great reviewer, fun but sensible. Matt Watson is just too bonkers!
I like your show a lot ..... as filmmaker I can say this is one of the best show for cars reviews
Damn, those Porsche guys are so clever. Ingenious tech making best use of ‘hybrid’ to make their cars better. I have a Cayman (GTS) and never looked too much at the 911 before but if I could afford this I’d buy it tomorrow, outstanding car.
Love the option to change the passenger seat from the driver position. Still every waiting for the first car with a sync button to make it match the driver position. Just love the symmetry.
Such a cool man reviewing my dream car.
Perfect combo.
Best looking car on the planet. Period. No need to change what´s perfect. Just need to perfect it.
Hi I love your videos
Rory the Mature persons Matt Watson.
No childish gimmicks, and real world car reviews/consumer advice.
Matt is pretty annoying when you get older, just watch his review of the new Bugatti with the CEO, he acts like a clown and it’s so cringe
You do realise that’s why Matt’s so popular. He adds humour and fun to his videos, stop being so bitter!
That transition to the targa 👌🏿
Glad to see some of the development from the LeMans cars finally making its way into production
Great video
1:21 single turbo...but it's all good...we all make mistakes mate lol. Awesome video...from an awesome car reviewer from THEE AWESOMEST car manufacturer
Previous Targa had a wind noise issue? Is this still the case? Thank you.
Superb car (specially the Targa) and footage... Pity they dumped the analog dial - it would make this Porsche hard to beat. Came here after watching the Emeya on that fabulous german road. Rory take this car there! Great reviews as always.
It'll be interesting to see whether the hybrids will be popular. Keen to see how used prices will be on the 992.1 in a year's time.
Best Car Channel.
Great video. Question…. Does the E Turbo ever run out of battery? And if so, does that mean you have less power?
Thanks for talking about if and how the battery could run out.
The GTS is the best 4s and Turbo s combined performance, especially the 991.2 version
Rory crushing these reviews and driving. This car is a beaut.
Was thinking about getting this as my next car in a few years, then I saw this guy at the Starbucks, his 911 parked next to my car, and we had a few chat and i checked out the car. Finally decided will wait till the kids get outta the house, its really a one man's car.
I'm pretty sure that, unlike other companies porsche design their car around the boot of its respected model, the cars may get longer wider, but the boot remains the same size as the last car
So F1 ditch the MGU-H to attract VW/Audi/Porsche... Now Porsche won't enter F1 then built a car with an MGU-H.
There is great peace in driving a hybrid. You don't feel guilty when u r stuck in traffic on joyrides.
I like that Rory actually references cars styling, lot's of channels seem obsessed with only the handling, and how it performs on a track, like steve cropley has an obsession for only talking about handling! It's boring!
This as good as a Turbo...so whats the forthcoming 911 Turbo S gonna be like...I cant wait
Thank heavens it still has a engine..."ICE"
I bet 992.2 turbo S will run 9.9 on the 1/4
Yeah, because without one you would accelerate the new 911 by foot Fred Flinstone-style.
I WOULD RATHER DO THAT THAN IT BEING a full EV LIKE THE TAYCAN ....
992.1 Turbo S already does the 1/4 mile in 10.0 seconds, so the 992.2 will hopefully be faster than 9.9s.
transition at 8:30 was sick
I'm not a huge Porsche fan as I don't find them very aestheically pleasing in looks or sound, but I have to give it to them that their cars always have a great stance. The wheel gap is always just about perfect. I don't understand why other manufacturers can't do the same.
EU Regs say a cars tyres can't go out further than the arches. That's why we have these horrible plastic sticky out bits on wheel arches. I'm not sure how Porsche get around it.
And by the same rules there must be enough space to mount snow chains.
This hybrid is a great example of how electricity can aid the performance car, the sports car, I love that this is how the 911 became a hybrid!
But I am really sad to see the manual transmission go. Like, really, I would trade those 50 extra hp for a manual.
But I also understand this is the way of the future, I wish manuals didn't go away, but if we put that to the side this is an amazing car with WONDERUL engineering and great fun.
Rory Reid, Henry Catchpole & Mat Watson in the same place? Would have loved a trio review ❤. Three of my most favorite reviewers.
Brilliant review bro ❤. I might buy one ☝️ 😊
Not sure digital dashboard progress at all. My analogue dash on my Mondeo is still ok after 20 years. Will that be the case with the Porsche 😮
The T-Hybrid sounds like the fulfillment of the 918's technological trickle down. I may have to double check that as I think 918 may have had very different hybrid system.
When you having a bad day then watch this and you forget what time, place and why you were having a bad day
Amazing shirt
If they make a turbo s version it would defo be my fav Porsche
What color is that demo car? I love it!!

I enjoy rowing. through gears. That’ll never change.
plenty of low mileage 2nd hand 911s out there for you then, so porsche couldnt care less about your opinion. especially since you would be another one of the "fans" that voice your support by complaining as opposed to the true loyalists who support the company by Paying for new models upon release.
@@sirgeorgioalastrata4104get in a train mate it’s much better than a self driving car efficient and quiet
wish you did followup videos on past cars you've reviewed... but not old high mileage cars just the same car but to check if the 1st review still holds now that the new car lustr has faded
I think Porsche is thinking about Longevity and making it efficient.
I think the new Hybrid systems are good if in the future it leads to Porsche's amazing new active Suspension systems are available in the 911. Currently these systems are only on the Taycan and Hybrid Panamera as they need large amounts of electrical power to operate.
So if a 911 Hybrid means those systems can be brought to the 911 I say go for it Porsche!!!
No way in hell I could pull off a shirt like that as well as Rory
Amazing….. the base C8 should have came with type of power. 500-550hp is the sweet spot for the streets. Great job Porsche.
Hope thath Hybrid tecnology go to other models from VW group like the ne Golf GTI or RS3/RS6
Older gen 911s are so expensive anymore it doesn’t make sense
the speaker amplified noise aside,,, I'm betting on the future for the 911. This Gts comes without back seats, you can have them if you want though. But imagine taking that lump of engine from behind the rear wheels, next subtracting that mass of steel PDK and hybrid motor, gas tank, front battery and replacing it with two or four electric motors all between the front and rear wheel ( perfectly balanced ) all providing 7-800 hp and equal or more torque. Add on torque vectoring at each wheel ( for the awd version ) and with the future or batteries where weight will be cut in half with higher density, well, like I said,, aside from speaker amplified noise. But in truth, fake engine noise is already a thing with EV's. And it can only get better, if that is your thing. Me, I'd take precision, and a lightweight balanced car with unlimited torque any day. And yes I did like the noise my 992 GT3 made while I owned it, and even more with my 458.. Thing is none of us have driven an electric sports car that weighs less than a GT3 with twice the power yet.
99% of owners will never experience “power oversteer” in their Porsche but 99% will valet park it.
That new slatted grill is nasty
I love this car!
What’s the price of headlight replacement when they get nicked 😅
Amazing car
I think the car is great, but I'm a little bit sad they ditched the analog speedometer and the turning starter.
Do you even own a Porsche? I do, a 992 C2 GTS and it's about time they ditched the antique features. The analogue dial made zero sense and looks ugly.
When are you planning to review the revuelto?
Is it more ecomincal re fuel?
8:25 top transition
Most of the 911s I see are parked outside wine bars. Hybrid setup very useful for this.
Is the sound piped into the cabin, because it doesn't sound like a Porsche at all
Do people buy the gts to drift and take it out on track..... id rather a lighter car and ditch all the hybrid stuff
Yo Rory, would it be right to say that the battery tech came from Rimac? Which is a good thing.
Holy Stuttgart
Why didn't Porsche make it fully electric? Because it's a better track car as a gas powered car or even a hybrid. I'm a huge EV fan, but the weight of an EV is just hard to overcome on a track, which is why the fastest Nuremberg Ring laps are in a 911 GT3RS, not a Taycan Turbo GT, Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire, etc. I guess you could have gotten a better drag strip car out of an EV, but I'm not sure that's what Porsche wants to sell.
There is a mistake in the number plate. In Germany when a car is either fully electric or hybrid the number plate must end with an "E".
So either Porsche gave you the wrong car to test, or Porsche have put an illegal number plate on that hybrid.
Rory is on another Level, very different from Car Wow where that guy thinks everything is a joke. His video explained almost nothing.
Porsche had to offer more than the 'normal' 30BHP increase between versions as they had to overcome the additional 50Kg weight penalty. Any successor that was slower than it's forebear would have been slated by the press...
Watching from South Africa 🇿🇦
They'll have you for the next drop.
can an engineer explain why car top speeds are getting lower? this much power and torque and it is 7mph slower than the sub 500hp ferraro f40, and even 10mph down on the fat e60 M5?
The slow mo shots of Rory fondling the engine and battery pack...classic. LOL
