Damn, those Porsche guys are so clever. Ingenious tech making best use of ‘hybrid’ to make their cars better. I have a Cayman (GTS) and never looked too much at the 911 before but if I could afford this I’d buy it tomorrow, outstanding car.
1.9 kWh sounds like it would be plenty for a mild hybrid system so long as the battery can charge and discharge very quickly and do so without damaging the battery i.e. it would need a very long cycle life. TBH it seems like a super capacitor would be better for this job but they take space and are heavy (relatively). A 1.9kWh battery, if discharged in say 2 minutes, could output 1.9/(2/60)=57 kW so if the battery can charge relatively quickly from the turbo and then discharge quickly when on the throttle it could still gave a very healthy burst of energy. It's obviously not designed to drive solely on the battery, just a boost when on the throttle hard.

Why didn't Porsche make it fully electric? Because it's a better track car as a gas powered car or even a hybrid. I'm a huge EV fan, but the weight of an EV is just hard to overcome on a track, which is why the fastest Nuremberg Ring laps are in a 911 GT3RS, not a Taycan Turbo GT, Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire, etc. I guess you could have gotten a better drag strip car out of an EV, but I'm not sure that's what Porsche wants to sell.
The T-Hybrid sounds like the fulfillment of the 918's technological trickle down. I may have to double check that as I think 918 may have had very different hybrid system.
the speaker amplified noise aside,,, I'm betting on the future for the 911. This Gts comes without back seats, you can have them if you want though. But imagine taking that lump of engine from behind the rear wheels, next subtracting that mass of steel PDK and hybrid motor, gas tank, front battery and replacing it with two or four electric motors all between the front and rear wheel ( perfectly balanced ) all providing 7-800 hp and equal or more torque. Add on torque vectoring at each wheel ( for the awd version ) and with the future or batteries where weight will be cut in half with higher density, well, like I said,, aside from speaker amplified noise. But in truth, fake engine noise is already a thing with EV's. And it can only get better, if that is your thing. Me, I'd take precision, and a lightweight balanced car with unlimited torque any day. And yes I did like the noise my 992 GT3 made while I owned it, and even more with my 458.. Thing is none of us have driven an electric sports car that weighs less than a GT3 with twice the power yet.
