Out of all the videos on youtube that i watched & tried the method from yours was the highest yealding by far & very simply explained, good work. When i tried nile reds method it completly failed & all i got was a load of stinking chlorine gas that scoffed the filters in my fume hood, On my second go using your method i descided to use pure sulfuric acid that i put in my lab freezer chilled down to -21c, i got a slightly increased yeald from this, i suspect thats due to there being les water to disolve the hydrazine sulfate in at the end of the process, thanks for a great video, with the absurd cost of hydrazine sulfate this video has saved me quite a bit of money, now i can go on to do some cool hydrazine chemistry.
Hey- sorry for the late reply. Been busy. I had that exact same problem, any other tutorial wasn't great. I tried Nile Reds just to waste a lot of money on poor yield. If you're repeating this method, i suggest going to "A smallscale synthesis of laboratory reagents" by leonid lerner. I think chapter 13 is what I followed. I find watching videos for synthesis annoying as you need to skip to the start of each step; The book is easy to find online and saves you a ton of time
Yes, its a probably carcinogen aswell. That being said you should be careful with it. Online form posts have people spilling it on their hands and washing it off, being fine and experiencing no side effects, but other studies show that its very toxic. From my own experience I wore a gas mask, and if some of the alcoholic solution spilt on me i immediately washed it off; a year later and still no side effects . Who knows though in 50 years.

Yeah did the actual rearrangement in my garage with the door open. Had a 3M chemical filter mask that should be good for hydrazine vapours

I prefer to bubble Chlorine in a mixture of Carbamide,Sodium Hydroxide and Hydrogen Hydroxide! I bet I'll get the same product!

Hydrazine nitrates. So far cobalt nickel and zinc are reported. You could probably make it with some more transition metals. I want to try silver
