Console has been left behind for years. This will almost feel like a whole new game for us.
Honestly not upset about the lack of random gen on console not being there, since I'm sure navezgane is different than it was in A15 and the other pre-generated maps are basically new maps as well. They'll all keep me busy till it comes out.

why are they even releasing 1.0 if they still are not releasing promised features yet? this is basically still early access but without the early access title. And knowing these guys, theses features will most definitely get delayed at least once
Because of Sony. They had to say it was a "finished" product to be on the store. Sony doesn't like to have alpha/beta games on their store {that's just my assumption.}
Think about it like this not all games get what they're supposed to have on launch, but at least this way more people can play while they add major updates that will make the game more fun

@@slinkergenie7725 and its not like the bandits and stuff were announced last second and delayed, bandits have been announced since around 2018. about SIX YEARS ago, and they keep delaying it over and over. now they're saying middle of 2025, but who knows if they'll keep delaying it over and over again like they've been constantly doing rn. so no, this is not some situation that happens to all games or whatever.

I personally think 7d2d is awesome but I'm not paying that just to get same game.
I played PC version too but in my opinion the missions were not good, treasure hunts too easy and the perk system didn't need any effort. Would have been better if all the fun pimps did was fix the crashing issue and add extra perks (keeping the 30 points per stat), now that I would have paid for.

I’m just going to chime in here as a dev who works on a live game that exists across multiple platforms.
How I’m interpreting the information posted by Vedui is like this:
TFP has the rights back after the folding of Telltale.
porting to console is not trivial, the memory management piece is the primary hurdle
PCs can cache memory over runs to disk and push them back into RAM later. This is not a feature on consoles so you have to always stay below your memory limit or the game crashes.
7 Days to Die’s dynamic world means there could be a lot of stuff to hang on to in memory and the more play time spent in the world the larger the memory footprint of the active game state probably is
Telltale must’ve sorted that out before they released the console versions i.e. after buying the license they had some C++ console devs doing some heavy lifting to port it
TFP’s ownership of the license doesn’t grant them ownership of whatever work was done by Telltale for the console port so getting the license back didn't grant them access to the repo/source
I think 7 Days to Die was built in unity. That means C#… C# has automated garbage collection… so it never forces you to manage your memory manually…. But on console you HAVE TO manage your memory manually and memory management is really tricky even for experienced devs
finally, while the Xbox port will look very much like the PC source, the PlayStation architecture is radically different and outside of the memory management issue mentioned above, the PlayStation port is not trivial. If all you ever did was unity games you’re going to need to do a ton of homework to pull that off. Probably even hire some veterans.
so with the assumption that 7 Days to Die (a game I adore) was made by a scrappy indie studio it makes sense why re-doing these console ports is a big ask for their team.

your assuming way to much, we dont know what or how the rights reverted they could have included repo rights, teh company didnt get blown up all that was sitting with iron galaxy who are still going.
noone was asking for parity with pc, people just wanted updates to fix md5 bug mostly, 7 years ago they were saying already they would just launch a new version they never looked at all at viability of updating, they had it set they would rinse console players once again. stranded deep managed to launch year and half later after being in same boat with teh game being with tell tale.

@JadePGSurvival yeah and it was out in 2018 and gamers who purchased Stranded Deep all got refunded due to the game being deleted from Sony and Microsoft because TellTale was still publisher.A year later Stranded Deep had a new publisher....no assumptions just facts
The only thing i do not buy the 1.0 version on console, is the local split screen coop mulyplayer not been there.
For me is that a major downgrade, takes away the fun and hart of the game.
Same I only play 7 days just to have fun with my friends so no split screen is sad 😞 I'm a little disappointed 😔

Google why 7d2d never got console updates. And find out that TFP had to fight and pay for their rights to it back after a screwed off deal left them in legal nonsense over the rights and you'll find he did 0 research for this and is lying to you. Don't be so trusting. The information is out there

Yeah the no mod support on console feels outdated, even more so when you see other PC games doing mods on console. Some PC devs feel like they just care very little for their console fanbase, although to be fair some console devs don't pat attention to PC needs either.

Wish this was on gamepass! BTW I figured out a way to cheese the infected broodmother with bows, no damage in Grounded, after that patch that fixed the shelf placements. If you wanna do a video on it, hit me up as it seems unknown atm👍
No need for upgraded weapons just hit the same part over and over and you will see it rip then break, that bone knife isn’t a attack weapon it’s for harvesting

Oh gosh. Console. TFP have said as much why, and how, and the question unfortunately is part of why it's pervasive to ask, as TFP haven't in simple bullet points laid it out.
TFP did not buy the console rights from Telltale. TFP SOLD the rights to Telltale. TFP is the creator. Telltale was the licensee.
Telltale paid TFP for the rights to port, AND publish on Console. But telltale went bankrupt, and TFP stated that reverted the license rights to TFP. However, you can't publish a game with a license, you need to port it. All the ported code, all the publishing material, accounts, and what have you, were still property of Telltale (or whoever managed the winding down). So TFP can't do anything, unless they either buy all the ported code, publishing material and such, OR redevelop it themselves for console (ie, not that easy).
Likely in the end they paid to get the console access, maybe publishing material, maybe even some porting code, but since they don't have console developers it's not helping as they'd rather re-develop for next-gen when 7dtd is "ready" and then make a proper 7dtd game... on next gen :)
So, Telltale sold people the game. Telltale folded. End of story for current gen console, sadly.
I would say TFP regrets not spending more time on the contract with Telltale possibly, to protect themselves in case of Telltale folding. Ie, maybe some clauses with all code/material in escrow accounts that would be given over to TFP in case of Telltale winding down, perhaps, something I've done in commercial software development in the past to protect against bankruptcy.
Still the good news is TFP likely will make a 7dtd on next gen console, at some point. :)
You going to compare dayz and minecraft to this game??!!! You cant build or completely change the world in those games like in 7 days. Modders make minecraft more playable jus like in 7 days. I love the changes the fun pimps have made over these past 10 years. Yea slow with output of updates but it hasnt stopped modders from creating content for this game keeping it fresh and relevant. I love resident evil games and other zombie horror games, but this game i love the most cause you can build and create your own base and explore, loot, and have fun with friends or random people if you create a server. Say what you want more people will play this game after console version gets its release.

Grounded was in gaem preview for 2 years ie early access on pc, it then cam out on PlayStation and switch year and half after full 1.0, what point are you trying to make
@@Jade-PG that the price point has nothing to do with how long it’s been there, and if it’s has a deal or not, because Obsidian was a Microsoft studio, so they have more leeway on this front
Console users that already own the old 7 days version will get a discount, to me, that’s already better than I expected honestly

It’s been on PC for years, but for console, we had an old version for a while, it being more expensive isn’t because they we’re greedy, but Microsoft and Sony we’re
Their whole system is flawed, but imagine it in a similar way that steam charge’s something like 20-30% of gained revenue past a certain threshold
If they wanted it to be worth their time, they had to price it higher, that wasn’t a Fun Pimp decision, I’m putting a lot of money on that
I’m just saying that it isn’t their fault, it’s either this, or we don’t get it at all because the cost to republish is too high for rentability
In a way, it is greedy, but they can’t just make games at a loss, that would be insane

They need the new influx of cash from consoles. That’s why they are dropping it and then overhauling the game mechanics on the road map. It’s been seven years with no fucks given about console and the revenue from pc has slowed. So it’s not surprising that they’re coming back to console with an unfinished version to get the quick cash that it will bring. Not knocking them business is business but let’s not get it twisted. My question is what will they do when the game grows beyond the current consoles capabilities?
I think you may be uninformed. They didn't abandon it for 7 years on console. They didn't have the rights to it on console. The company they made a deal with to produce the console version went bankrupt and they were unable to do anything with it while they fought a court battle for rights back.

I also get they had to buy them back, they also understood the old consoles wouldn’t run current version of the game at that time. Fr, there's no f'ing way imma pay $45 for this crap. I like the game I really do. I played it way back on console. But for an update (or a full realease 🤦🏻♂️) that has nothing exciting about it I'm not even gonna pay the current $25. I might think about getting it if it goes on sale under $10.

1.0 is actually just A22. But rumors are that console companies didn't let them release as early access. So call it 1.0 and keep updatting like they always did.

Let me remind everyone that console is the sole reason why anyone is able to play 7d2d today. They were getting ready to go under until they ported the game over to console years ago. When all this stuff went down, they threw console in the trash. I remember after that, tfp said they would not put 7d2d back on console. Even though console is the reason they are able to stand today.
Here they are again, dipping their hand back into the console players' pockets. They raised the price for the console version and are leaving it how it is for pc. They aren't even giving the people who help them back there a thank you. Console has to pay them even more money than they already have if they own the game and double that of pc if they don't.

Radio dial selectors are a disease that consoles have infected PC games with. So glad we have the 10 slots hotbar and not some disgusting dial. The UI is for PC and console people have to deal with it using their crippled control schemes. Better that than the other way round like in Skyrim without SkyUI.

I'm a console player but I think this is not a fair view. Passionate game company suffered because their publisher made bad financial decisions. They are a small company had to buy back the rights to console from telltale games and also completely update the engine. It's a 10 year old game. They worked extremely hard
false, nothing has ever been confirmed they had to buy rights back, in fact a journalist dug around and i spoke to solvency company and teh 7 days rights were never for sale, it just took awhile to revert back, they have had them 7 years, rereleased it on disk and digital without new content 18 months ago including famouse world destroying md5 bug, no one was expecting parity with pc but least they could have done was give it a pass over for issues and add content that was about to be added before colapse of tell tale

This company went from making the game to having to literally do everything on their own. They didn't handle all the ins and outs marketing,pr,etc they have been doing their best. Could they have done better yes. But I'm proud of this company for doing everything it's done thus far. I've waited 10 years like every other console player. But in my opinion you give this company way too much grief and not enough credit. I like that u call out game companies but in this case I completely disagree. I will happily pay for this game on x box I purchased it 10 years ago I hope they continue working on it.
