I hate when games force me to wear gear that makes it more beneficial to do certain tasks. I spend too much of my time switching and managing my inventory (the most boring aspects of the game) every time I wanna do something. As oppose to a learnt skill that's always active once I've meet the requirements. If you spend a lot of time harvesting wood wouldn't you learn over time how to make better use of the tools thus optimizing your resources which not only makes sense but allows you to focus on the tasks at hand and enjoying the game. Rather then I wanna do something but I'm not sure if I'm wearing my correct outfit. At best having the outfits with bonuses for your fighting style would be fine but for harvesting and the like it's a nuisance.
They came by the magical streak naturally: modding Bethesda games. :) There was never any concrete separation between the Elder Scrolls and Fallout franchises at Bethesda, which liberally reuses code from one franchise's game when developing a new one for another. (There's even a reference to the Pip-Boy light in Skryim's code indicating what you see onscreen as a Skryim torch.) Ergo, armor and weapon "enchantments" and "legendaries" in Bethesda's Fallouts, which have in turn inspired the armor enchantments we're now seeing in 7 Days to Die. I'd prefer a postapolayptic world be more realistically postapocalyptic myself, but...Bethesda. :)
To be fair, if I'm going to chop wood I'm going to wear a different outfit than if I was going to try to sneak around a zombie-infested facility or do gardening or go on a road trip or w/e. So, it's not completely unrealistic, but it's still annoying.
Well, you can complain about a lot of things, but about a realistic approach to clothing, you don't go to Mount Everest in Bermuda shorts either, so please, yes this example is exaggerated. But nevertheless, clothing has its purpose & that's a good thing, if it's too complex for you then just play something else. Always this crying about games these days, oh I don't like this, oh I don't like that wäh wäh wäh 🤨
No one is FORCING you ... that is a personal choice to min max. I had early access and have around 100 hours in on 1.0 and only on a handful of times have I switched outfits for a bonus and I'm thriving on Survivalist w/ 64 zeds. Lots of people speaking hyperbolic. In regards to magical armor giving bonuses ... those have been part of the game. How about cigars that make you stronger ... or help you barter ... this stuff has always been there.
That's why i love darkness falls (and how it was way way back in alpha 14 or 15?) where if you mine, you upgrade your mining skills. If you use shotguns, you upgrade your shotgun skill. I have no clue why they won't use this, but instead introduced annoying magazines that forces you to loot (or buy them). Not to mention it's easily cheesable by going through a big city and only looting mailboxes and buildings that got bookshelves.

Okay, now I'm really hyped for 1.0. The fact the our trader progression doesn't get reset when we go to a new trader is game changing for me. I usually didn't care unless I start with Rekt or Hugh, I just continued on. Being able to start at T2 when go to Jen and etc. is going to be so sweet. Amazing Vid Eko. Thanks for the updated info
@@WaywardEko Additionally, we won't be able farm out various traders for all the completion rewards anymore, which is another welcome nerf/change in my eyes. :)
I feel like the dew collector gettin murky water is kinda a positive too. Like you need it for glue, and normally you cant really get too much murky. I at least am always low on duct tape.
@@Azeliniana the cloth costs of things is a bit obnoxious in A21 though. First 2-3 weeks is hording cloth like crazy to have enough. and then it becomes a non-issue after that. But water/glue/duct tape is a bit of a grind too, yeah. I use a mod which takes the heatmap generation away from dew collectors, that helps game balance substantially.
TFPs have always said Bandits was something they wanted to add but they never gave a timetable for it happening. Bandits are now on the Roadmap that they released. If they don’t add them Q2 2025, I think then it would be fair to complain about the Bandits not making it to game. * But I must add that there is always that warning that this is an estimate and the timeline is subject to change.
Oddly, to me at least, what I'm most excited for is the remnant buildings. I loved the dungeon style POIs when they were introduced but that's all we get now. While the one the large office building at the beginning of Dev Stream 3 is nice, I hope we get some POI homes to explore that aren't pathed out and are more of the pre-alpha 17 variety.
Honestly, given how irritating several of the traders are (voice acting wise), I wish it were an option to outright kill them and then be able to loot 100% of their store (including any hidden rooms and vending machines etc.). And I'm not usually the type of player to do this. But it'd be a way to get faster starting gear but nerf how easy the future of the game would be (since you'd no longer be able to trade with them ever again), and there could be an Option as to whether the other traders learn about this / get more security or whatever. It should be a deliberate thing, though. Not something where you accidentally happened to shoot them -- that's gonna happen, if allowed -- but where you'd have to deliberately get back there and finish them off, and had the option to patch them up instead.
Great video! I'm not thrilled with one-piece outfits. I want to go shirtless. The new models and skins are awesome, looks great. I'm gonna miss that old yellow cruiser bike. Best POI builders in the biz.
I really like a lot of changes that were done, the game’s been ironed out a lot more and I’m happy we’ve all come this far. However, in my opinion I’m not a fan of the new armour system. I liked being able to mix and match clothes, but now it feels limited to set outfits not to mentioned you’re gonna have to change your clothes all the time to do certain things.
since Day 1 I was like this is a fun game, even when it was a bit off kilter here and there with the added updates. Thank you so much for keeping it going and never stop digging away at it all
Not sure the performance "gains" are worth mentioning. You have a rig much better than most (55%+GPU & 87%+CPU) people on the STEAM charts and more if you were to also consider consoles. You have a top end machine and that's before consider your ddr5 and ssd speeds. Before we anyone says to give credit where credit is due put into perspective you demanded a raise for work and so your boss said sure and you went from $20.00/hr to $20.01/hr but hey you got your raise....😅 Other than that thanks for the video
I believe this is also with basic settings, without mods, for any files. Simple fps fix with boot.config file change will normally net a pretty good increase in fps, which he was probably not able to run with this due to constraints in place for testing or review purposes. Now once you have the files themselves, I highly suggest edit of boot.config to add in the info to turn on multi-threading in Unity engine there. It boosts fps due to sharing workload of the GPU to the CPU cores which isn't defaulted on in Unity without being called for in the boot.config. The boot.config file is located in the 7d2d_data folder or was. Assuming it's still in same general location. Also, assuming that Unity 2022 engine will allow even more performance gains though multi-threading, as it is a much more updated engine that previously used in 7d2d with the older unity engine. The lines to add in said file are as follows: gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1 gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1 wait-for-native-debugger=0 scripting-runtime-version=latest vr-enabled=0 hdr-display-enabled=0 gc-max-time-slice=3 Just edit the boot.config file in notepad and copy and paste these lines into it, then save. Once you run the game again, you should notice a performance increase. However, longer play cycles will still cause slowdowns to happen over time of play. If you play for 2-3 hours straight, it may start chunking along and stuttering. This I'm told is due to Unity's poor data resource cleanup calls. I'm not sure even modding could fix this. With pretty heavy settings, my system manages to run current A21 at around 110-120fps in the wilderness and 70-90fps in cities. I do not have a monster system either. AMD 5600x CPU, AMD 6600xt GPU, 32gb ram. on decent SSD's. that's running the game in 1440p on a dual monitor setup. I don't turn down the in-game graphics to much either to allow for better visuals while still offering smooth gameplay.
I mentioned it mostly because it's in the patch notes and comparatively and subjectively ... it felt better in some situations. The more I've played the less it feels like much of an improvement though.
Annoyed AF that so many fanboys refuse to admit this "1.0" is not a real 1.0. It's just a half finished game that they are shoving out the door for what could be several reasons. Seeing as I already own it I will give it a go and see how good or bad it is. If it's bad I will just walk away and play something else.
Are bandits even in the game yet? To me it's crazy with how many features were promised nearly some decade ago that haven't seen light. All features promised to be in the game's official release. I'm going to be honest, I don't believe for a moment this is because they believe this is worthy of a 1.0. It's because they're probably in financial trouble again and a 1.0 release will temporarily give them some cash flow from console players. This is the same reason they released for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 back in the day. Look how that ended up.

one the most solid updates iv seen for a game, well done fun pimps also you can drink from bodies of water so use a bucket and bring some to base, but you still need to collect water for crafting.
They should add monster-specific loot, and loot-types, randomly-generated ofc, for example Soldier and Demolisher would be the best chance of getting grenades; rockets; explosive-ammo etc. and some very rare chance of getting rocket-launcher; M60 etc.
I’d also love to see another tier of traps. Like reinforced traps. So they take less damage, maybe deal more damage too. I just feel like late game especially the blade traps and electric traps break so fast.
@@WaywardEko yeah exactly! And the bundles give us 10 (which I still think is waaaay too many. Though I won’t complain lol) but if you actually use 10, they’re going to break. So my guess is they give us 10 intending us to use a couple at a time? Idk. But they should have stronger versions atleast, that perhaps require twice as many resources, and you can’t get them as rewards or in loot. Only craftable if you have them unlocked. And they take way less damage so they last all night without issue.

To be clear on the trader tiers; while it does force you to go to the next biome for the trade route mission, that previous trader will still have the next tier of missions (rekt will force you to go talk to jen to get to T2 but rekt will have t2 missions same as jen). This is big because this won't entirely force you to move your base every time you tier up or move away from friends who are still working on lower tiers. You can also find legendary parts for that T6 crafting surprisingly early on (on a standard loot server I found one in a treehouse on at most a tier 2 lot in the pine forest with only the helmet mod that gives +loot so my loot stage was still pretty low).
Im seeing some 30 frames of 4090, dude you were getting like maybe 15 tops on those late hord nights. This update is absolutly insane I CANNOT wait to play this today!
Awesome overview! Very informative. It is sounding more cool than I thought and my concerns about the discarding of clothing are reduced quite a bit. I suspect that modders will figure out ways to "re-incorporate" most or all of the old items back into use somehow interesting too . . . Have heard some of the more cynical content creators express unsurprisingly cynical views on this update; but listening to this it sounds like lots of good stuff.
I went out of my way on this one to not share my opinions ... for the most part I tried to just show what's there. Being honest ... the progression is the best thing to come to this game. It will feel VERY different and is more of a challenge.
If they fixed performance when their is a ton of zombies, they could get rid of horde nights and people could just have a TON of zombies in the map. 15FPS on a 4090 is crazy.
@@WaywardEko Not really, id like to refortify an existing location and always be under threat of attracting a horde. I'd just like the horde night amount of zombies around my base at all times so Id actually have to stealth around in gameplay. Like project zombiod.
1,5k hours in alpha and counting. I have been playing since day 1. Thank you guys. My only complain is the skill progression with magazines and books. My OCD wants me to progress my skills by doing them.
First game I've ever seen that had a planned story progression that said, "nah, lets release 1.0 without that pesky story progression." They even said 1-2 versions ago that they wouldn't consider the game for release until the story part (plus bandits) was finished. Looks like that aged well huh?

They need to do an animation overhaul for hands, weapons, tools, Ect. Some simple free aim sway goes a long way, throw in a few extra animations for smoother transitions to make movement feel less rigid & bam 7 ways to cry in tarkov 😂
What I like to know is do zombies still hit you when you're 10 feet away one thing I hated was getting hit even tho I was clearly away from the zombies arm reach
Oh good lord. Thank you for this in-depth look at 1.0. I think I will enjoy exploring the changes even more than with the earlier alphas. I will state the clothing/armour changes don't seem to be as bad as it could have been.
The biggest draw for players right now is the multiplayer. I have gotten 3 people to play personally and everyone I know says that the main issue they have is that everyone needs to get all the magazines and it feels like being a side character in someone elses game instead of playing together. Hearing that shared quests only progress one person is a major turn off. Making a setting for shared magazines and for shared quests so its at least optional would bring a lot of players back to the game and make new players more likely to stay since they can customize preference for multiplayer. In fact this and optimization make up about 80% of the bad mojo surrounding this game and fixing the former would bring way more hype to this launch.
Adapt -- everyone doesn't need every magazine. If you are playing multiplayer ... divide and specialize. We did A MP run this Sunday and dominated using that strategy. Feed mags to a focused crafter in each area.
@@WaywardEko People usually just play casual with friends. Shared vs funneling is no different progression wise but it keeps the rest of the team from tracking progression or making their own items. It doesen't need to be a default but it needs to be a setting.

But most players bought it back then, have pulled in friends to play with them over the years, so the costs are already sunk, so the players might as well play it. That is how they get their playerbase.
Ffs, they didn't even integrate Steam Workshop Support!
No new sound for the 4x4...so glad that there are mods.
Great video, all the important intel and super smooth and engaging to watch!

Out of Alpha and Into Beta! We are making progress!
Not beta, they treating it like an official 1.0 release.
@@SirMcMuffin alpha, beta, bla bla.. those used to mean something but now it's just marketing terms.
@@SirMcMuffin Yet its still not done. We've still got a weather system, bandits, steam mod support, story/npcs. I guess I won't consider it 1.0 until its actually done :P

7 days is my all time favorite crafting survival game
was so cool to see this on the steam page. well freaking done Eko. thank you so much
Thanks Frost!!
That fps is a joke. This is my favorite game ever and it's my biggest disappointment ever
I actually think my performance in alpha 20 running darkness falls is better lmfao
It's not funny though :)
Definitely looking forward to coming back to 7D2D. Thank you for the great overview. Always enjoyed your videos.
Quite welcome and enjoy!!
Great job, Eko! Can't wait to see everything else you have coming down the pipeline. See you during Streamer Weekend!
See you there!

@@DarkSunGameplay Oooh good point, wonder how many people have missed that.
My God I love everything about this update! This is the best game ever created.
i’m so happy to see this getting an update
I feel like the dew collector gettin murky water is kinda a positive too. Like you need it for glue, and normally you cant really get too much murky. I at least am always low on duct tape.
duct tape requires clean water now. It's still nice that it is super easy to make.
@@WaywardEko Oh i didnt hear of that change. Well boiling the water aint hard and its way cheaper now
@@Azeliniana the cloth costs of things is a bit obnoxious in A21 though. First 2-3 weeks is hording cloth like crazy to have enough. and then it becomes a non-issue after that.
But water/glue/duct tape is a bit of a grind too, yeah.
I use a mod which takes the heatmap generation away from dew collectors, that helps game balance substantially.
i wonder if we still swallow the bottle together with the water or the bottle stays 🤔
@@VeNuS2910 You swallow the glass bottles and chomp the tin cans, no one is allowed to reuse/recycle empty container
Fun to see that they finaly added the bandit npc's..... ohh wait they dident
Hahaha, maybe next alpha.. wait.. OH NO!
We will get there ... one day ... hopefully.
I think these have HUGE potential.
Yeah they look awesome, and will be nice to explore some big buildings that aren't crazy hard! I always like checking the new pois.
Trader dialogue should fit the situation example it’s the morning the trader would say lovely day to kill some zombies 😊
I talked about how they are wiring that up -- they will also respond to weather and other actions.
I'm really hoping the new trader dialogue considers that not ALL players are male this time!
As someone who plays this since the first alpha version I can tell the new character textures are a HUGE improvement.
So much nicer .. especially when playing MP.
Over a month in I only change out my armor from time to time for specialized tasks. I think once we get wardrobes we won't really notice as much.
since Day 1 I was like this is a fun game, even when it was a bit off kilter here and there with the added updates.
Before we anyone says to give credit where credit is due put into perspective you demanded a raise for work and so your boss said sure and you went from $20.00/hr to $20.01/hr but hey you got your raise....😅
Other than that thanks for the video
The lines to add in said file are as follows:
gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1
gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1
wait-for-native-debugger=0
scripting-runtime-version=latest
vr-enabled=0
hdr-display-enabled=0
gc-max-time-slice=3
Just edit the boot.config file in notepad and copy and paste these lines into it, then save.
Oh my god..... Youre one of those..... You called it a rig..... Christ..... Thats like having a porn stache and mullet today......
I only have about 50 hours or so can't wait to jump back in!
Great video that makes me even more excited to get to 1.0. Thanks for always delivering such a well-polished product!
Quite welcome and thanks for the support wendy!!!!
Meh ... it's a name and one required for them to release to console. I don't care what the name is ... just the features.
The actual 1.0 is releasing at the end of 2025 providing they don't delay the roadmap they showed
It's really suspicious lol
Tbf, this is only a beta build of the 1.0 update. So, in theory, a lot will change by July 25th
@@Pooples123 Then they shouldn't have hyped it up as a 1.0 update.

I'm really going to miss the hodgepodge of clothing. I'm sure it's easier to model this way, but that was a lot of the fun with the game. Especially when your beefy bearded friend finds a pink skirt that's better than what they had before and they pop it on for the stats.
Yeah ... me too ... early game hobo lifestyle has always been hilarious.
In order to play efficiently youll have to have these full sets ready to go at different places around your base and that sounds tedious.
You don't always have to min max ... got by just fine without doing so.
Thank you guys for this awesome update !!! Great work as always ! :3

When I started this game, I was in middle school and played with my dad. Now I’m a high school senior and my father is no longer a part of my life, and wow what a journey it’s been. So excited to explore these new features.
So many adventures and memories along the way for sure.
For T6 gear u actually can find it in air drops I believe as well as t6 loot cache from quests
Yup - they added some of that in after I put this together!

Thanks Sir!! See you in Monday!
one the most solid updates iv seen for a game, well done fun pimps
also you can drink from bodies of water so use a bucket and bring some to base, but you still need to collect water for crafting.
They should add monster-specific loot, and loot-types, randomly-generated ofc, for example Soldier and Demolisher would be the best chance of getting grenades; rockets; explosive-ammo etc. and some very rare chance of getting rocket-launcher; M60 etc.
Would love that ... the Dishong Tower Challenge does this.
Half expected the Ranger male to tell me about another settlement that needs my help.
hahhah nice
I’d also love to see another tier of traps. Like reinforced traps. So they take less damage, maybe deal more damage too. I just feel like late game especially the blade traps and electric traps break so fast.
I'd love to see more traps in general! Blade traps for me are only helpful if they are close enough for me to repair during horde night.

This game has come a long way.. last time I played it was on PS4 back in 2016 and here I am preparing for PS5 release next month. Shout out to the fun pimps for never giving up on this game and constantly improving it I love you guys so much for updating it! So here’s to you fun pimps. Here’s to the console release, here’s to the new memories I’ll make with my friends next month, and more importantly.. here’s to the wonderful bright future of 7 Days to Die! 🥂
Yup they corrected legendary parts ... have to be above gamestage 15

It will feel VERY different and is more of a challenge.
i have been playing this since early access release and i gotta say i am so fucking excited.
It makes me very happy to see all the changes that are going to be made, and that Alpha is finally being left aside
If they fixed performance when their is a ton of zombies, they could get rid of horde nights and people could just have a TON of zombies in the map. 15FPS on a 4090 is crazy.
No horde nights would kinda wreck the entire premise.
@@WaywardEko Not really, id like to refortify an existing location and always be under threat of attracting a horde. I'd just like the horde night amount of zombies around my base at all times so Id actually have to stealth around in gameplay. Like project zombiod.

I couldn't agree more.

If I had a nickel for every time TFP planned something and changed their minds ...

They need to do an animation overhaul for hands, weapons, tools, Ect.
Some simple free aim sway goes a long way, throw in a few extra animations for smoother transitions to make movement feel less rigid & bam 7 ways to cry in tarkov 😂
The reload animations look a little better. And our hands show armor now! So ... that's ... something.

6872 hours in this game. So ya I am a fan. thanks for the info on the update.
Happy v1!!!!

Congrats on being on the steam news page.
