I’m 25 and I’ve been trying to do this since I was 12. Landed my first Kip Up today! I know now that The hardest thing about the kip up is not to give up you fail over and over again. It’ll happen with enough practice.
Thank you ginger ninja. I love the way you break everything down into a few easier steps. very clear and easy to understand. working my way through all your vids. lol always wondered who the ninja in the spiderman suit is/was. lol thanx mate peace
Pushing and kicking together will give you your best chance of landing nicely. Most people that don't push hard enough leave their body behind and fall back when they get to their feet. Really appreciate your support. Thank you :)
I'm glad it helps and it's probably because it's not really a Taekwondo move, it's just something you try and learn with time. Good luck with your training :)
People shouldn't get discouraged if they don't get it right away. It takes a while for most people to get the timing down. It took me a whole week to do a regular kip up and ever longer than that to do an armless kip up. After that it took some time for me to get the consistency down. Just keep practicing.
Ahh, it's really hard for me to do kip up i tryed to do it on that day 8 july and like i ended up doing a backwards roll (im a girl btw) Ugh, im only 13 i'd love to do a kip up but its really hard -cri
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :) Flexibility certainly helps with making the move cleaner but with power and technique you can still land it pretty well. Advise is in the tutorial but i'm assuming you do the most common mistake which is kicking straight out instead of kicking up which gives you less height/time to land the move. Hope that helps and good luck :)
I have stretching tutorials which are good for kicking and will strengthen the lower back on my channel but if you are not interested in that then practicing arch on your front and bridge should suffice for the kip up :)
I recommend a soft surface as it will absorb your impact when you are attempting the move. Stone or wooden floor is not a very good idea. If that's your only option in doors, then practice on grass or sand outside. Good luck :)
I used the hills to help so the motion is easier for me and then moved on to a foam mattress and then I just went for it on the carpet and the results were successful but this video was the last option which worked by the way and thanks for the motivation to do so cos I was close to giving up
This move is not just about flexibility. It's about timing, power in the kick and the angle you are exerting it also. My advise is watch the tutorial, follow the steps and i'm sure you will get it :)
Kick upwards first and it will change naturally to diagonal half way through as you are getting ready to fold the legs. Hope that helps and good luck :)
Your back flexibility is important to get a good kip up. Bridges help a lot. The rest is timing and power you get from the kick and your hands pushing. Hands are easy to do so back and legs are the most important part to have in my opinion. Good luck :)
It's usually really close together when kicking up and about a shoulder width apart when I land for me as you can see in the video but it's mainly down to your preference/variation :)
No problem and i'm glad you liked it :) Train on something soft like a mattress, sand, etc. You could also go to an open gymnastics session too and use their equipment to help learn more difficult moves. Good luck :)
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :) It's just practice my friend. You have already done the hard part by landing it so you know you are capable of doing the move. Just brush up your technique, practice and it will become muscle memory. Good luck :)
Well it's a lot about timing and a good bridge position. I would work on combing the kick up with pushing off your hands a bit more and practice holding a bridge position to improve shoulder and back flexibility. If that doesn't work then train explosive power in your legs so you increase height and speed in the move. I have a tutorial on how to improve your jumps which will help :) Good luck :)
I landed it first try (Not very well by the way) and it's just progressed from there. It just depends on how often you do it and these drills are the ones most people use to learn the move but i'm sure there are others. Good luck :)
A backward roll. It's a lot easier than a kip up in my opinion. Just to check we are thinking of the same move. Watch my back tuck tutorial and it's at the beginning explained in good pre-requisites :)
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :) I'm glad you think so and i will do my best to :) You can get someone to support you and help give you better form. Shoulder stretching will help too but the main way to progress is repetition and strengthening your back and shoulders. Good luck :)
I have seen bigger people than you do a kip up :) I was lucky to get it first go but my back was quite flexible already from training in martial arts. I have seen people my build trying it for a couple of months and no success so it's just understanding and being persistent. The bridge doesn't have to be perfect but it helps make your kip up more efficient and i'm sure yours will progress with time. Good luck my friend :)
You need to focus on the kicking angle and combine it with your arms, then get your legs to thrust down underneath you as your torso is pushing upwards. Hope that helps and good luck :)
You need to focus on the kicking angle and combine it with your arms, then get your legs to thrust down underneath you as your torso is pushing upwards. Hope that helps and good luck :)
Try and push off your hands more (make sure they leave the ground) and drive your chest up whilst thrusting your legs down underneath you. lol Try not to do that method even though it's tempting because you land and focus more on improving the technique to make it safer :) Hope that helps and good luck :)
Not really. It's mainly about back flexibility and a strong kicking motion. I know a lot of people that don't even use their arms to kip up and i don't have to either. There's one without hands when i lie back and hold my feet instead. It just helps when you first start. Good luck :)
Landing on your head? That's very difficult to do. I'm guessing you are kicking directly up but you need to kick and make a bridge position like in the video. My advice would be to video you doing the move and compare it with an efficient one to see what differences they have. Good luck :)
It's not a necessity but being able to do a bridge certainly helps. Although the move is a quicker motion so if you have good dynamic flexibility then you should still be able to get a really good kip up. Hope that helps and good luck :)
This is the way to get your kip up clean and upright so it's the most efficient you can make it. If you want to get up quicker then you would kick with less of an angle and it would be faster but lower. It depends what you want.
lol It's just practice and i'm exaggerating the motion so people can see it. Plus you land completely upright with good technique, not low and putting pressure on your knee joints. Keep practising and good luck with your training :)
You are either placing your legs in front of you instead of underneath you, the technique/kick is not strong enough or you are exerting your body backwards too much. Good luck :)
I have a jumping tutorial and a leg control tutorial that will develop strength in your legs. I will probably put up basic strength building exercises in the future. Good luck :)
The angle of your kick upwards is probably wrong so go over the steps, learn the kick and then kick up to bridge for a better understanding of what you are doing. Good luck :)
They can do yes but the 40 places are full so they would have to go on a waiting list until people lose their place or if i start another class in the future. Thank you :)
No problem. Well if you can do it on grass well, you should feel confident to do it on concrete so just do it when you feel ready. Good luck and Thank you :)
Sounds like you give up too easy. I practised a move called a double corkscrew for about a year and a half before I finally landed one so my advice is if you want something, keep working hard for it. Good luck :)
No problem. That's just ideas for what you can do when your kip up is at a good standard. Just keep practicing and play with it. Yes, practicing with hands helps us get the kip up, when we are used to it, we kick the same and whip our body up without using your hands. Good luck :)
Maybe in the future. I have a lot of other moves in mind before that one though. Sounds like your not tucking your chin into your chest as you hit the floor. Hope that helps for now and good luck :)
It's not a necessity but being able to do a bridge certainly helps. Although the move is a quicker motion so if you have good dynamic flexibility then you should still be able to get a really good kip up. Hope that helps and good luck :)
Develop your shoulder and back flexibility with some exercises and practice a bridge by itself to help. It doesn't have to be perfect but the better it is then the easier it is to land efficiently and safely. Keep at it and good luck :)
Hi and no problem :) That move is not too difficult and i'm sure if you just look at it, you can work out how to do that one. I don't think you will need a tutorial for it and a general kip up is a lot harder i'd say. Good luck with it my friend :)
On something soft to minimize the chance of injury and impact on your joints. Carpet should be fine as long as you have thick underlay. If not, I suggest a mat. Good luck :)
Go over the pointers and try to understand the motion more to prevent you from feeling pain. Also, stretch out before you try the move to minimize the risks of injury. Good luck :)
When you roll back it will go on the floor. A common mistake is to kick forward and slide your head on the floor. Kick up and your head has less chance of scraping across the floor. Good luck :)
Try and push off your hands more (make sure they leave the ground) and drive your chest up whilst thrusting your legs down underneath you. Hope that helps and good luck :)
It depends. Some people get it first try and others take a while. I have seen big people land this move so if you exert your body correctly it should still be possible. Good luck :)

YES!!! Thank you! When I used to try it, I always keep on hurting myself! I do Shouden Qwan (A type of ninjutsu, taijutsu, ect) and I need to use this to get back up when I fall down. now it's easier!!! Thanks so much!
I'm in the b boy club at skool and the way that taught me how to do it was the way where u said you hurt your knees. As soon as I got this video down perfectly in about 2 days, i did it at skool and everybody after session came up to me and told me to teach them the way I did it. This is one of the best tutorials Ive seen around keep it up GNT
As long as you practice safely. That should be the main priority :) I will be making a handspring tutorial. Probably not a head spring one though. Trampoline and floor are two different things. Be careful and stay safe. Good luck with your training :)
I use that technique when I wake up in the morning.
Anthony Tran Cool lol
Keren kaya kip up master tolong dong lihat vidio aku atau subcris
Jimmy Graham nice man funny
Jimmy Graham You wud probably break your back that way... So watch out
Phu Tran
Same here
You make these things look so easy, but when I try them, I look like a fish out of water. :/
lol You will get it with practice :)
You give me so much motivation! Thank you!!! :D
fragrooster375 I'm glad you feel that way and good luck :)
GingerNinjaTrickster Thanks that is the best tutorial I could find on youtube It helped me a lot I will start praticing soon thanks

Darwin Xavier I agree, being persistent is the key :)
could you help me
Really?!?! It took you THAT long?
How come I feel like I could do armless kip up first?? ...
If anything i know how to do a backwords rolll lols
well at least you got something from it lol
Ahh, it's really hard for me to do kip up i tryed to do it on that day 8 july and like i ended up doing a backwards roll (im a girl btw)
Ugh, im only 13 i'd love to do a kip up but its really hard -cri
I'm sure you would get if you dedicated more time to it and followed the advice of the tutorial. Good luck :)
Thank dude i'll keep trying
No problem and great! Good luck again :D
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)

my arms arent strong enough to push me up:(
Adrian Abella You will get it with practice :)
Try doing push-ups and triceps dips
u dont need arms u just need legs to kick up
Adrian Abella work out then
Your arms aren't the most important part here. Mainly you use your legs for momentum and your neck and back to get you off the ground.
It's usually really close together when kicking up and about a shoulder width apart when I land for me as you can see in the video but it's mainly down to your preference/variation :)

ill try it like this next time, before i was doing it nooby like and landed on my back bunch of times
It's a lot easier when you have the momentum from kipping up. To actually come from just a bridge is quite difficult for most.
Most of my problems are that
I can't get the bridge position
Same, I can’t do the bridge bit 🤦🏻♀️
OMG. I just happened to attempt this move and now I accidentally click on your video on it.
I was gonna try the kip up. Than I klick on the video not expecting it to be about the move I was practicing.
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :) It's just practice my friend. You have already done the hard part by landing it so you know you are capable of doing the move. Just brush up your technique, practice and it will become muscle memory. Good luck :)
Ah.. so i must practice my bridge? :$
It will definitely help :)
lol Well hopefully it will help when you have time to try. Good luck :)
Omgg awsomeeee !:D
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :) That's great and that is understandable. Keep up the hard work and good luck :)
how many minutes should i train per day?
It's more about how you train. Not the amount of time :)
Turtle all of them
2 klmins
Well it's a lot about timing and a good bridge position. I dameged my neck and my brother demaged his hand when we tried this.
Luky Baczo Really? Should have trained more safely..
Hahahhah
Nice family tradition
I landed it first try (Not very well by the way) and it's just progressed from there. It just depends on how often you do it and these drills are the ones most people use to learn the move but i'm sure there are others. Good luck :)
After I made a bridge, I can't spring up to stand properly.... :(
+MrLennonson I'm sure you will get it with practice. Good luck :)
GingerNinjaTrickster Thanks you so much! You're really kind.=)
MrLennonson No problem and I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
Its hard i am 11 can i make it plz tell me
nusrat dola no

Does anyone else hear wanna see this dude in a 1v1 ?
Why would you want to see someone get murdered? Do you want him to go to jail?
+Luiso Gaming you have no idea of martial arts do you?
Lobo Visuals you have no idea of jokes do you?
+Lobo Visuals also a kick can damage someone severely, have you not watched human weapon? don't think you are smarter than everyone else
Saadh Zahid
the idea of martial arts is to defend yourself ,not to kill or heavily hurt someone for fun or sport
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :) I'm glad you think so and i will do my best to :) You can get someone to support you and help give you better form. Shoulder stretching will help too but the main way to progress is repetition and strengthening your back and shoulders. Good luck :)

i cant kick up from hand just from head only with straight hand side of the body
+Saurav Kmr Cool. It's basically the no handed version by the sounds :)
I'm glad you find it helpful and that you think that. Thank you :) I'm sure you will get it soon. Good luck with your training :)
I cant do it the problem its my hand
Keep working on it and i'm sure you will get it. Good luck :)
Good kick up I like you
I'm glad you liked it and Thank you for your support :)

Please respond he's really upset :(
aaryn 28 who is upset?
That's good :) No problem and I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
first time to watch this video
Cool :)
You need to focus on the kicking angle and combine it with your arms, then get your legs to thrust down underneath you as your torso is pushing upwards. Hope that helps and good luck :)
Ever time I fall on my back I do this move to get up
That's great :)

This is the most helpful tutorial! Got it in one day!
I'm glad you thought so :)
I'm glad it helped and that's great :)
I tried and I can't get up :(
I'm sure you will get it with more practice. Good luck :)
GingerNinjaTrickster Tnx dude your awesome and a great role model
simon brigole I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
That's great and I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
You deserve more subs man!
I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)

Might do one in the future :)
That's because it's a backflip tutorial, not a back roll tutorial. If the tutorial was on that then it would be broken down into more detail :)
That's great! Congratulations :)
Some just take longer than others. One move i tried for over a year and a half before I landed it. You must be persistent :)
I didn't just say legs but if you are developing explosive power then you want strong Glutes, Quads and Calves. Good luck :)
Absoluteley not. It's mainly about timing the push off your hands with the kick up at the right angle :)
Don't straighten your legs completely when you thrust down and you won't have that problem :)

They are very close to the same time but your hands should be slightly before in my experience to get a good bridge position and in turn land more upright :)
Just keep working on it and i'm sure it will improve :) A mat, beach or grass is pretty forgiving. Use your initiative and i'm sure you will find something :)
Lol unlucky! I advise taking the mattress of your bed in the future. Good luck :)
YES!!! Thank you! When I used to try it, I always keep on hurting myself! I do Shouden Qwan (A type of ninjutsu, taijutsu, ect) and I need to use this to get back up when I fall down. now it's easier!!! Thanks so much!
Glad I could help :)
Perfect reference video for the animation I'm doing for my new beat-em-up game! Thanks for posting! :-D
No problem and good luck with it :)
Well good luck with whichever one you try :) You can do bridges and other stretches that i cover in my tutorials. Hope that helps and good luck :)
Bridge position definitely helps but i know a lot of people that can't bridge very well but can still do the kip up. Good luck :)
I'm in the b boy club at skool and the way that taught me how to do it was the way where u said you hurt your knees. As soon as I got this video down perfectly in about 2 days, i did it at skool and everybody after session came up to me and told me to teach them the way I did it. Awesome and I appreciate you saying that. Thank you :)
That's good :) Keep practising on the mattress until you are more confident and when you are ready, fully commit on floor. Good luck :)
As long as you practice safely. That should be the main priority :) I will be making a handspring tutorial. Probably not a head spring one though. Trampoline and floor are two different things. Be careful and stay safe. Good luck with your training :)
An over crescent kick? Do you mean a downward kick? If so, yes you can :)
It is necessary if you want to land completely upright in my opinion :)
Don't expect to get it straight away. It takes practice and i'm sure you will get it soon if you keep trying. Good luck :)
You do kick up and then fold yes. My last comment was about the landing so you don't damage your knees. Good luck :)
