The Osmo Pocket 1 was an excellent camera, but people think it's bad now because new versions are coming out. Don't get carried away by the hype. I think it's good to upgrade to new versions, but I prefer to wait a few versions before doing so. I have the Pocket 2 and I'm sure I can get a few more years out of it. Great video!
Thanks for the comment! I complete agree. "old tech" is still very relevant to many types of creators these days. Waiting until significant upgrades or needs is important to do.
I have all 3 - the Pocket 1 was good, the Pocket 2 is better and the Pocket 3 is great - but depends on what you're using the cameras for - the Pocket 2 is still perfectly good so no hurry to upgrade unless you want the bigger sensor for more dynamic range and low-light capabilities etc in the Pocket 3.
Just sucks that the battery is not replaceable. So getting a “few more years out of it”, comes down to how well the battery will last. The downside with these cameras is that they are basically guaranteed to become obsolete after so long,
Cameras have been so incredible good quality so many years that it does not even matter anymore. The most important things in video are story, audio, lighting and stabilization. The camera image is the last that matters. Normal people dont care nerd specs 4k 10 bit 422 1600mbps and so on.. Image has been "enough" for like 10 years already. Pocket 1 is fantastic camera for many use.
I just pulled my Osmo Pocket 1 out for the first time in over a year to prepare for some upcoming travel and I was glad to see others still using it too!
I just got my p1. It's hard to use. More harder than my action 1. I'm using both cameras. Now I have to get the all nd filters, wide lens, controller and some other things soon.
Thanks for making this video. I'm an early investor of the Osmo pocket myself and was curious if i needed to upgrade to a 'better' one in 2024. Happy to see people are still using this amazing machine.
WOW !The Osmo Pocket 1 was an excellent camera, but people think it's bad now because new versions are coming out. Don't get carried away by the hype. I think it's good to upgrade to new versions, but I prefer to wait a few versions before doing so. I have the Pocket 2 and I'm sure I can get a few more years out of it. Great video!
I have all the DJI Pocket cameras to date and have to say the Osmo Pocket 1 still holds up fine - don't expect too much from the Active-Track and low-light capabilities and it's still a perfect camera. Still good for a spare pocket camera for sure. You should do a video on the Sony FDR-3000 still my favorite Action Camera to date.
I have the DGI pocket and I went just a little bit overboard on how I set it up but it works great. I put it in a Handheld Stabilizer with Smartphone Video Rig with RGB Light and movo X1 on top . I use the note 8 phone for advanced settings control and as a large screen monitor. Also running a multi output USB /C-port battery pack for continuous run time Great little Rig !!!
I upgraded from the pocket 1, I still have it as a backup or an extra angle when I need a light camera (top down shots, etc) and I can tell you, The Pocket 3 Blows this thing out of the water in every way! The image quality, Dynamic range, bokeh, BRIGHT and much bigger screen, much better ISO performance making night time interior shots much cleaner (Major reason I wanted to upgrade) built in Wifi to live view and control the osmo on your phone GAME CHANGER! 4k 120FPS in 10 bit LOG! (my much more expensive mirrorless cameras can't do that!) And the convenience of FAST charging (5 min top offs or 15 min 0 to 80% 🤯 Makes you wonder why we don't have this on every camera) All this leads me to no longer recommend the pocket 1, as the 3 tackles so many of the shortcomings of the other pockets. It's worth it! I only wish DJI would make a second one with a 50mm lens so I could use both without having to zoom and lose quality!
This paired with the DJI extension rod that's made for pocket 1 becomes a really good camera for vlog and travel. But the pocket 3 shines when it comes to shooting night time videos.
I still use the Osmo pocket 1, the 4k is great, and I couple it up with my Tascam Portacapture X8 and the results are as good as when I use my good cameras Fujifilm XH2
Thanks! That was cool. yeah, this camera is pretty neat and delivers dang great results when you apply basic principles, and looks way better than video coming from my iphone 13. Ebay has these at a great price, get some cheap filters and boom, you're producing some great footage.
Was it good with night time vlogging? Hope you can show us also. Planning to get my hands on the pocket 1 instead of the 3 since they said pocket 3 screen was so fragile 😢
I still have my pocket 1 and still use it. Great quality for the camera still, the pocket 2 didn't have much different to offer so I didn't upgrade plus it has all the uses that I need for filming.
Awesome Video, Thanks!! I still have mine from when it first came out, but now it's time to dust it off, hehe.. I have been fantasizing about a cine mod rig for it that would allow external lenses to be attached to it (fixed position, minus using the gimbal). Much Love, Bro. 😎 Instant Subscribe.
hey bro do you have details of the settings you used for all of your test. i just have got my hands on one and i am a beginner to anything camera or shooting so would love some beginners tips .
I think the mic is pretty decent. It was very windy in some of the video I shot in this video. I’m unsure if you can hook an external mic into this camera. I’m sure some have figured out how but I don’t think it would be too convenient.
I still use mine weekly. Carry it all the time. Mine has batt going bad. DJI has lost my business on all their crap with 'built-in' batteries. UPDATE: Was able to get batteries replaced at the Official DJI Drone Center in Manila -- works like new now. Cheers
Thank you! The first scene I was sitting about a foot in front of a large window on a cloudy day for lighting and camera was the Lumix S5 with the 20-60 lens. The last scene I used a cheap softbox light from amazon as my key and just the lamp in the backround. Then I used a 50mm lens on the S5. Super simple set ups.
Hey man, it is a cool video. It is crazy that the osmo pocket 1 has d-log but the pocket 2 has d-cinelike. I personally think d-log here is much better than the d-cinelike in the pocket 2
There is a DJI accessory kit that comes with wireless module attachment to connect to phone (live view and controls), as well as an adaptor to work with GoPro mounts ;)

@@the_minimalistic_adventure They are not interchangeable but certainly replaceable.
Excelente video, gracias. Saludos desde Colombia.
sending my support from the Philippines. Still I'm using osmo pocket 1 up to this day. Looking forward tha we can be friends
Nice am new so am looking for 1 myelf
Me too my friend 😊

This video was all I needed to buy one, thank you. Refurbished ones by DJI themselves are really good, new battery, and they don't look too rough.
i just bought one of these the other day, its been fun to use so far
Super fun. Such a different camera compared to the rest out there.
I just got my p1. It's hard to use. More harder than my action 1. I'm using both cameras. Now I have to get the all nd filters, wide lens, controller and some other things soon.

Never thought of trying that one. That would be interesting.

Thanks man - this is the exact decision I'm weighing. Used Pocket 1 or new pocket 3. This helps!
Glad to help !

Thanks, I need a b-roll camera and saw this refurbished and was wondering what it could do and you answered all my questions!
Glad to help!

It's still a great camera, especially for those who can't afford a Pocket 3 yet.

thanks for the video! Directly from Brazil ;)
I’m still very happy with it! Welcome Brazil !
exactly 519$ vs $150😂
I still use the Osmo pocket 1, the 4k is great, and I couple it up with my Tascam Portacapture X8 and the results are as good as when I use my good cameras Fujifilm XH2
Great vid. The OG OP is definitely still a great tool and holds its own in 2024.
I just bought a refurbished one of these on Amazon for vlogging, great video! I think I made the right choice
Thanks! That was cool. yeah, this camera is pretty neat and delivers dang great results when you apply basic principles, and looks way better than video coming from my iphone 13. Ebay has these at a great price, get some cheap filters and boom, you're producing some great footage.

Appreciate it, that would be awesome. Excited to see what DJI comes up with along with 3rd parties in the coming years.
You mentioned Minnehaha and I was like wait a minute I know where that is! Twin Cities resident. You just got a new subscriber.
Thanx bro. I was on the fence. Going for OP1 now.
Just what I need to see, thanks Nate!
hey bro do you have details of the settings you used for all of your test. i just have got my hands on one and i am a beginner to anything camera or shooting so would love some beginners tips .
May i know what are your thoughts on the mic? How does the pocket 1 deal with wind and background noise? and is there wireless mic for 1?
I think the mic is pretty decent. It was very windy in some of the video I shot in this video. I’m unsure if you can hook an external mic into this camera. I’m sure some have figured out how but I don’t think it would be too convenient.
There is a way using the DJI Wireless Module accessory - someone had tested it and posted video.
I still use mine weekly. Carry it all the time. Mine has batt going bad. DJI has lost my business on all their crap with 'built-in' batteries.
UPDATE: Was able to get batteries replaced at the Official DJI Drone Center in Manila -- works like new now. Cheers
Your first and last scene's camera work is impressive. What equipment did you use sir?
Shout out to people still rocking their osmo 1
Great review, shots and colorgrading!
Thank you !
there’s only normal and D-CLike in my pocket 1 pro settings 😢 where did you set the D-Log?
Yo fellow Minnesotan here! 🔥
i still have the pocket 1 and 2. Def love the colors and bokeh more on the pocket 1 but I need the wireless mic in pocket 2 😂
The wireless mic would be amazing to have !
It’s gd to not upgrade all the time. What do u think of the Osmo action 3?
Can you list what kind of tripod you use to keep your DJI
watching this on my dji osmo pocket 1 😂
lol😂
Any tips or tricks to use one ? I cant seem to figure out the exposure and other stuff
my osmo pocket is great. zero reason to get rid of it.
i use external audio sources anyway
Hey man, it is a cool video. It is crazy that the osmo pocket 1 has d-log but the pocket 2 has d-cinelike.
I personally think d-log here is much better than the d-cinelike in the pocket 2
It is surprisingly very flexible !
How did you get d-log on the pocket 1???
I just have cine-d...
How Many Hours to Charge using type-C USB with 12Watts adaptor of my phone.
ebays sells them for 125-150 i think for that price this is amazing for the size and quality
I have 4 of them.. the only problem is the battery life. 👍😎🥁
super helpful video!! thank you
Good one, I recently see Osmo pocket 1 on sale, so I wonder if I should take it or not :D
potrait mode can?
Are a Estrada from the Philippines? or do you have relatives here in our country ?
I am an Estrada from Guatemala ! Great to meet you.
Definitely quality content
Thanks for this video!
I shoot my video yesterday thank you
is that really took from DJI 1?? damn very clear shoot
Still awesome camera
Can you connect this osmo with rode wireless mic?
I am unsure. I think you could probably rig something up in the usbc port.
Does the app still work today ?
I'm still using this camera! :)
nice. thanks
It still has grear quality video. I'd still buy this actually.
Its the most pocketable pocket
It's still better then the canon v10!
I bought a second hand one with the price of 130USD
Solid deal !
I will buying
nice video
Looking for a beginner action camera but don’t want to blow the bank. Is 90 a good price?
Get the Pocket 1 or the Sony FDR-3000 for your first camera - both would be under $200 USD.
There is a DJI accessory kit that comes with wireless module attachment to connect to phone (live view and controls), as well as an adaptor to work with GoPro mounts ;)
I got it for €160 😊
Do you have wide angle lens on if so who can one?
No I did not! Just had my arm extended out mostly all the way.
I got the OP 1 for 100 $ on ebay plus purchased the ,5000mAh Extension Rod for OP1 for 30 $ cool little thing
