Show Notes: CONFESSION. So, I have to confess shortly after this video up I realized I made a technical error. I used the wrong word for colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel. Through out the video I said complimentary.
The correct term is analogous.
I'm eye embarrassed about it. I'm more embarrassed that I didn't just fess up sooner.
I fully admit I'm not an expert on cooking lot theory. Mostly I just know basics of using the color wheel and I use that a lot when picking colors. But, I get terminology mixed up.
Normally I research terms before I sit down to shoot to double check myself. But, I did not this time.
Thank you for your understanding. 😊
Great video!!
Hi Carrie, thank you for another enjoyable podcast/video! I am new to color work. Will be using the "wrap card" and color wheel!! Both helpful and I thank you for sharing! Happy Knitting!
You're welcome so much! I'm planning more videos over this year on different color strategies with the color wheel, and color theory. So stay tuned!
Hi Carrie. This was so helpful. I am not the greatest at finding colors that go well together and this gave me some helpful ideas. The color wrap card was interesting too. I’ll be using that in the future, now. The “little drop of poison” orange on the Tunisian project really demonstrates the concept beautifully. I love how your cowl came out in the end too.
Yay! So glad it was helpful. I have more color theory videos planned for this year.
I definitely have the urge to go bold; I'm in the midst of knitting a lime green cardigan for my cousin's older son
Amazing. Green is my favorite color and I know lime green can be controversial but I secretly love it.
So, your analysis of why the colors work together is correct. But I'm going to pick this tiny nit and say that they are not complementary in a technical, color theory sense. Colors next to each other or that share characteristics in common are *analogous* colors. *Complementary colors,* which also tend to pair well but give more of a pop (your "drop of poison"), are on opposite sides of the color wheel (red+green, blue+orange, yellow+purple). Apologies, the art student/graphic designer in me could no longer stay silent. Most people probably don't care about the technical terms.
Anyway, the project turned out lovely! 💙💜💗
Thank you for the correction. I was using the wrong word through the whole video. Sometimes I get a word stuck in my head and without realizing it keep saying the wrong one
