  • Landscapes in Blender can seem like a challenge if you don't know what you're doing! Luckily we have access to plenty of amazing files from the talented artists behind the splash screens and blender films made over the years!

Thanks for doing this vid. It's encouraging to say the least.

No problem! It’s good to see that even in professional level pieces, not everything is as complicated and difficult as it may first seem!

Can you maybe make a video where you try to recreate one of the splash screen from scratch?? Would love to see those type of videos

That’s not a bad idea! I’ll have a look at that. In a similar vein to that I am making some videos recreating my favourite video game environments which I’m looking forward to!

Fun to watch the digital world begin to reinvent old miniature effects and forced perspective tricks. This last image (Autumn Forest) uses pretty much all the tricks from the Russian dam from Golden Eye.

It is really cool to see! It goes to show that the overlap of physical and digital media is pretty big. And I didn’t know that about the dam, I’ll have to look into that, haven’t watched Goldeneye in a long time!

@@Littlerolz Yeah, the entire dam at the opening was a miniature -planes and all - and they only built what you saw from that specific angle. The mountains in the background were photos on plywood.

Woah that’s awesome! I love the ways old films would get around challenges like that which nowadays would just be “make it CG.” There’s something so cool about miniatures and matte painting and seeing it all come to life with such basic solutions at times!

Another great example is the leap of faith in the spider verse movie. The buildings are all looking weird when moving around in the scene. But from the camera perspective its beautiful. Nice vid

It’s such a great movie! There’s so many awesome moments that just come from the visuals alone. You can learn so much just from watching it!
