It's better now I think, but not so long ago the alignment between a message and the interface to report it was... weird, or got easily confused, so someone quickly reporting a series of bot comments might unwittingly have zapped a legit comment once in a while as well.
Thank you for addressing this. I wish other creators would take notice of this. I get bots responding to me and so do other people instead of genuine responses. I like to actually communicate with actual humans. It's just fucking annoying with bots.
I got a wave of these bot comments a month ago. I reported all of them to spam to TH-cam. Two days later, my revenue plummeting 80% and I got the invalid views banner in my dashboard. Hope my revenue comes back.
the bots benefit TH-cam in the sense that they use this as metrics to tell advertisers that they have this much traffic coming to their website, so yeah you should embrace the bots
@@DDosAndDonts But aren't bots considered invalid views? I just find it odd that I get a wave of bot comments and days later my revenue tanks and I get a notification on my channel that it now has limited ads on one or more videos 🤷♂️
@JMGENTERPRISES TH-cam is letting it count so they can inflate their bullshit "success" for more advertising money. Small businesses who use advertising dont get a boost in sales like websites like etsy/google ads say because no real humans are watching the ads. Most normally functioning human nowadays will do anything in their power to never see an ad. Companies aren't going to actually look at a website's function and decide if they're gonna advertise on it.
@@JMGENTERPRISES maybe it's an automated system that detects bot traffic and thinks; large amount of bots = this user is botting to artificially boost their channel so let's not recommend this content or advertise it because it's all fake views!
@@halfway7690 I think the system is automated for sure. But I honestly have never paid for views or asked my audience to click on ads or anything crooked like that. Unfortunately, youtube will not tell you which video(s) are driving the invalid traffic. A week ago I disabled embedding for all my videos. Revenue seems to be climbing back up again but still down 40% from where it originally was.
Here's another problem with comments. Most people know about their comments getting shadow blocked or completely deleted by youtube's nannybot or by the channel's blacklist. But there's another thing where a reply to a top comment will only show if the comments are sorted by "Newest first". So, it's basically being buried or suppressed instead of being deleted.
As a small creator I’ve seen a few of these messages and was like wtf is that shit. I do agree about the reading and connecting with the community. Try and heart everything to show a person I’ve read it.
The built-in YT auto-mod isn't designed to fight bots though. In my experience, it leaves most bots alone and just takes out comments YT higher-ups personally disagree with. Many names and concepts are outright forbidden to mention (especially in the realm of politics), regardless of whether or not you're violating community guidelines. That has nothing to do with bots. They don't really care about the bots. If they did crack down on them, the bot creators will just use AI to generate unique messages YT isn't tracking. Just like with their other problem, if they fight it, it just gets stronger to bypass their efforts. YT moderation primarily exists to keep their "platform" under strict control... despite the fact that their behavior is against US law.
Day 258 of big TH-camrs not talking about TH-cam automatically deleting like 30 - 40% of comments people post because they don't even know it's happening because they barely ever post any comments on TH-cam
Thank you for talking about this! I’ve been getting this one video in particular on my channel flooded with these bot comments. Literally the very first one of those comments that I saw had my dad’s full name in it. I wonder if those names aren’t actually random or if that was just an absolute coincidence. Some of the other comments I saw had the names of some of my family members.
I noticed this when I was watching a music video for Zillakami (for some odd reason). I went ahead and clicked on newest first, then noticed the heap of bot comments posting first and last names and literally nothing else. At first I thought it was music industry inflating engagement numbers (just watched a video on that), so I thought it was music labels using bots to increase SEO for their artists. I'm glad to see this issue being brought into light, and hopefully TH-cam stop harassing adblockers for one second and actually does something about this.
It's rare to find comments that actually makes sense nowdays, I get replies time to time, but most of them felt so unhinged or unnatural, it's been like this for a very long time.
Your brave to even click on their discord link to see if it's legit. I would be worried about getting malware or it being the cops or FBI undercover looking for people that falls for it.

Hey Muta, I got something that you might want to look into as well. My son is a young TH-camr and has received an email from some strange person that wants him to use their headphones in video and want him to buy the headsets off Amazon and they will reimburse him. The only problem is the medical errors and the use of words that wouldn't go normally in certain sentences. It appeared to be an AI generated collaboration email and my son is autistic and got really excited. It broke my heart to have to tell him that it was a scam.
No offense, but scam sponsors are nothing new. There are actually a bunch of videos about it back when a large number of big creators got hacked due to it.
This is unfortunately super common. Even huge youtubers get scam sponsors constantly messaging him. You're just gonna have to teach and help him to verify and research sponsorship offers.
This is a basic scam. It's incredibly common and designed to prey on hopeful people who are desperate for their big break. It's disgusting what some people will do for so little money compared to the hurt it causes.
i wasnt tripping when I thought the names with the - and 3 random letters/numbers were bots, holy shit, and they were in almost every video, and they actually made sense tho 0-0
I can't believe they're left up for so long. I report every one to YT and they're left active for days and I make clear they lead to THE WORST cheese pizza.
Maybe if we all reported them to the law then it would get to the point TH-cam would be forced to do something or just keep getting sent warrants after warrants for these channels. The second they have to hire to many lawyers or whoever handles that stuff something would be done.
Virtually all of the interactions you see on virtually every video on this platform are AI bots, especially in the replies. I'd be willing to bet the actual user base of these various sites is so unfathomably low that if they purged the bots, they'd lose all ad revenue within a day because there's no one actually watching much.
Not just youtube either, if you look at a lot of tiktok comment sections for example there are just tons of bots commenting and being botted high up in likes. It's ridiculous, lot of real comments just get sent to the shadow realm on these platforms while bot comments run wild.
13:39 People often say that "google yourself" but it does not work for me. There are no informations about me, even things like some old facebook profiles: I have to know where to look. For my old teachers I found only some group photos on school website, but still, there are so many people at those pictures, if I didn't know them I wouldn't know who's who.

7:09 if that’s true then I think youtube might have been removing any comments related to Ava kris Tyson back then. I thought you blocked the name because of how many people were talking about it at the time but hearing you say that you don’t block anything was surprising to me. I had made a comment on a video when that was going on and I couldn’t find the comment when I went back to the video.

@drunkenhobo8020 Exactly, you don't even have to use cuss words, and they STILL delete them. I really hate how this site is being run.
@@mr.melancholy4973it seems like if you comment too frequently or say certain words or phrases they shadow ban your account for a few hours. Another W for the 1st ammendment.
Solid proof that Internet Anonymity must be the standard.
Or solid proof that internet anonymity must be illegal. If everybody on the internet is using their real name all the time, nobody ever gets doxxed, because there's nothing to dox to begin with. Problem solved. /s
the problem isn't that they can do that online, the problem is I can't go to their house and do something about it
It's a double-edged sword. One of the reasons Google tried to force real names was to prevent the random small anons from causing major harm to the bigger guys with no repercussions. Ultimately, looking out for your own safety falls on your own shoulders. Identity protection services, security cameras, being generally vigilant, etc. You can't rely on anonymity to protect you, it's just the reality we live in.

every social media needs to get rid of bots. i get friend requests on social media from porn bots almost daily, or followers from them on twitter. and comments on social media with links to whatsapp and other links. or ppl talking about how u can get a check and they need your personal info. all that annoying ass shyt needs to stop.
Some times if you have a really popular comment bots will report it so it gets deleted and latter they post exactly the same comment. Happened to me multiple times, so i stopped commenting like i used to
The call-out for cybertip is great. I always just assumed that they were just scammers and ignored them. Never considered they might actually be distributing such horrid shit.

Don't worry Muta. TH-cam is gonna do more changes to stop adblockers and find ways to make the platform worst to battle the bots
Heres something infuriating, youtube accused me of "spamming" and threatened to ban me from commenting after commenting normal things, meanwhile bots are allowed to exist.
I got threatened by TH-cam because of a bad comment and I've never even commented on anything bad?! They said they were gonna ban me 😂 what is up with TH-cam
I have gotten that warning twice.
Same. It's genuinely pathetic and I cannot wait until Google gets what is coming to them (legally)
It's better now I think, but not so long ago the alignment between a message and the interface to report it was... weird, or got easily confused, so someone quickly reporting a series of bot comments might unwittingly have zapped a legit comment once in a while as well.
How do they send that warning? Email? Notification in the notifications tab? Popup on screen? Ive never seen it so honestly curious
Well the bot comments don't affect TH-cam monetarily so to them they really don't have a reason to fix it regardless how horrible this shit gets.

@JMGENTERPRISES
TH-cam is letting it count so they can inflate their bullshit "success" for more advertising money.

Thanks for bring this up, I have seen smaller channels discussing this issue.

My son is a young TH-camr and has received an email from some strange person that wants him to use their headphones in video and want him to buy the headsets off Amazon and they will reimburse him. The only problem is the medical errors and the use of words that wouldn't go normally in certain sentences. Medical errors?
This is unfortunately super common. Even huge youtubers get scam sponsors constantly messaging him. You're just gonna have to teach and help him to verify and research sponsorship offers.
This is a basic scam. It's incredibly common and designed to prey on hopeful people who are desperate for their big break. It's disgusting what some people will do for so little money compared to the hurt it causes.

Virtually all of the interactions you see on virtually every video on this platform are AI bots, especially in the replies. Damn I never knew Ai could become self aware.
Not just youtube either, if you look at a lot of tiktok comment sections for example there are just tons of bots commenting and being botted high up in likes. It's ridiculous, lot of real comments just get sent to the shadow realm on these platforms while bot comments run wild.
