I love that the resolution to a movie mystery falls into "guilty" or "not guilty".
The Doc & Marty thing isn't that weird. I always assumed that Doc Brown hired Marty as a lab assistant when Marty answered an ad in the paper. It was the 80s and those things still existed.
I think it's the Blank Check podcast which stated someone from production confirmed it was because Doc Brown had the biggest speaker in town (and presumably was willing to build even bigger ones).
@@zomfies one of the writers said Marty’s parents told him to stay away from the creepy scientist which only piqued his interest to go visit him anyway. And a rough draft said doc did hire him but just to sweep the garage. They all seem pretty in-character to me, I think they could kind of be rolled into one
I also thought that when Marty was a kid, a ball that he was playing with went over the fence and his friends ran off cos it was that creepy mad scientist. Marty wasn't that afraid so he broke into the lab to grab the ball and Doc found him there, and they just became friends. I swear that was in the graphic novel

If I remember correctly, the IDW Back To The Future comic had Marty meeting doc in a Karate Kid situation where Marty was getting chased by Nails or some other bully type and he ran to Doc's lab place thingy and the bullies were like "no thanks, thats the creepy old dude who us teenagers would never hangout with" and they left

The weirdness is compounded by the fact that Sam Neill isn't Australian.
That’s explained in the book, Dr Grant was not fond of Aussies and would often mock them. Australian children being his least favorite thing. This engrained bigotry was why Dr Satler refused to date him.
Sam Neill actually answered that in an interview once. It's because Speilberg was unhappy with his american accent and they wound up settling on something "in-between". And as a side note, Sam Neill is actually Kiwi(NZ), not Australian.
Also when him and Lex are climbing down the wall with the wire after the Rex breaks out. He shouts "GRAB THE WYAH"

In the Raiders of the Lost Ark on Set documentary that can be found in many home releases of the movie, there’s footage of him Harrison Ford preparing for the shot by going into the water as well as footage of him holding on while shivering uncontrollably.
That still assumes they ran periscope up.
Realistically, it’s more likely they’d just not submerge as it is pre war.
As James says, the electric engines can only propel it for short periods before it needs to resurface to charge them.
There should absolutely be staff on the conning tower though.
He still would've had to ride on the submarine for weeks without food, water, or shelter so, even if the submarine stayed on the surface, he would've died anyway.
@@HarryBuddhaPalm Looking at the travel route in Raiders and measuring it on a map gives us a distance of roughly 700km. A type VIIc, the model of the sub they borrowed from Das Boot, can do around 38km/h at flank speed. That gives a travel time of roughly 18 hours. Let's say they don't run flank but half then 36 hours. Weeks and weeks it would not have taken.

@@ineptwizzard I read an article that had measured the course and the time it would take for that kind of sub and I recall it saying weeks but I'm no expert and I read it a years ago so my memory may be off. I just remember it being a hell of a long time for him to be sitting out exposed on the open sea with no food or water. They also pointed out that he should've just let the Nazis take the Ark if he knew that it would melt them all when they opened it.

DID YOU KNOW (try imagine I'm saying that in an Aussie accent) that Dame Judy played two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT people in the Bond franchise? As we know, in the Craig Continuity her civilian name was Olivia Mansfield. However, during the Brosnan era she played a different M. In the tie-in for Tomorrow Never Dies, and throughout the Raymond Benson novels, her name was revealed to be Barbara Mawdsley. That name was also used in the original scripts for GoldenEye, but was never used on-screen. Nevertheless, it's still held as canon.
I'm inclined to think Craig!Bond exists in an different continuity than all the preceding Bonds. A Bond Multiverse, if you will.

The Inception ending was actually solved when Michael Caine said in a 2018 interview that there are no dream sequences whenever his character shows up. Since his character picks Dom up from the airport, the end scene was the real deal.
The ending is a lot less ambiguous as some think. At no point does Di'Caprio's character say the spinning top is his totem.
However, he does say in his dreams he's still married and as such in the dream sequences he wears his wedding ring. He doesn't have his wedding ring on in the final scene.
@@Lyndon85 exactly! Also, I think people take the end (when he spins the top before turning away from and joining his kids playing) to literally, when it’s more a metaphor for the message of the story.
I read an interview with him about it years ago, and the message stuck with me so much I had to look it up again! Nolan said “In the great tradition of these speeches [to undergraduates], generally someone says something along the lines of ‘chase your dreams’, but I don’t want to tell you that because I don’t believe that, I want you to chase your reality. I feel that, over time, we started to view reality as the poor cousin to our dreams, in a sense ... I want to make the case to you that our dreams, our virtual realities, these abstractions that we enjoy and surround ourselves with, they are subsets of reality.”

Indy attached himself to the periscope with his whip in a scene that was cut but it still exists in the novelization of Raiders. Although it has him pass out during the trip so it's very possible the sub was not submerged the whole time.

When we were kids, one of our neighbours up the hill was an inventor in his 70's. We used to go and hang out with him all the time. His house was like a movie set full of weird, interesting things he's made.
I never questioned the Doc/Marty friendship.

Back To The Future has an even more simple explanation in the first scene. Doc was making experiments with sound and audio speakers, Marty was the local rock n' roll kid to test them and they turn friends.

Great video guys! Just a follow up on the Back to the Future thingy. In the IDW comic book series they do a whole story about how Marty and Doc meet. Marty breaks into Docs lab after Needless (his version of biff) breaks something or other to do with his guitar. Doc is impressed that Marty was able to overcome his security systems and they form a friendship from there. They are really good to read. Perhaps give one a glance and do a COG on one? All the best.
I have this Indiana Jones "Survival Guide" and it says that he survived the submarine trip in an even wilder way, by taking his jacket or shirt and holding it closed at its end and using it as an air supply while the sub dived
I’m actually pretty surprised sabers run out of energy. The way I’d write it would be that they can if they’re wielded and exerted by non Jedi for long periods, but a Jedi’s force connection can restore their power.
if you read up on like the actual mechanics of light sabers you can actually see that there are (special) batteries that are in the hilt. the crystals are just toi focus the energy. for example if you look up "proto-saber" you will see guys holding light sabers and they have this great big battery hanging from them and the saber handle and hilt are plugged into that. lol

Off the back of James' promotion I listened to Batman Unburied and it is fantastic!
I had already figured out that Butch had keyed Vincent's car and pulp fiction. There's nobody else that would be in a position or have a reason to do so other than Butch. Another thing I think I figured out but it is just my opinion is that but finds Travolta in the bathroom because Travolta is having bathroom issues because of his heroin addiction. He's also quite possibly using while he's in there which is why he's screwed up and left his rifle on the kitchen counter. Opiate addiction causes severe constipation.
Yeah he also rushed to the bathroom when Mia had her cocaine overdose. Vincent needed to poop and bad things happened when he tried.

The funniest thing about the hollywood spear gun thing is that in the movie, the gun isn't even loaded! There's no spear! Once it was pointed out to me I couldn't ever un-see it

Olivia Mansfield (M) is probably a reference to Captain Sir Mansfield Smith-Cumming, who served as the first chief of the Secret Intelligence Service, he's someone they should make a movie about.

Honestly Marty and Doc seems genuine great friends. I like to think they would have been friends even if they had just bumped into each other in a random restaurant. This whole idea of "Oh isn't this so weird and therefore inappropriate?" ignores the real world in which radically different people make friendships that lasts a life time without things getting weird

A Fun Movie Mystery that was recently solved was that Chris Nolan's original Idea for The Joker In The Dark Knight Rises was he would end up on an Island Called Blue Harvest. Which was also the name of the original Star Wars during production.

@@HOTD108_ 100% "Ray from nowhere" would have been better. I feel the way it ended was just awful writing. The sequel trilogy was not a coherent story. The original and prequals have a few issues for sure but as a trilogy they work where as the sequel trilogy is more an anthology they work on there own and share some things but as a trilogy they fall apart.

Like he’s a bit of a loser, maybe some admin was like “hey you look like you need some direction, my neighbor’s a crazy old guy who could use someone making sure he doesn’t kill himself, what’cha think McFly?” Like a volunteer thing but maybe since Marty’s grandparents may have passed he’s like a surrogate grandfather. I dunno, just an idea, movies are fun.

As a person currently undergoing the elaborate process of having crowns installed on my sad defeated teeth, can you imagine Leto's Joker sitting hour after hour in a dentists chair having big ugly gold caps installed on smashed in teeth? Hahaha! It's stupid beyond imagining; Him sitting there with his mouth propped open and the little sucky hose making little sucky sounds hanging out his mouth, while he desperately tries to make boring quips to show how cool he is and the dentist keeps telling him to be quite and "open wide!" And "turn toward me." Hahaha! Suicide Squad is absolutely ridiculous in nearly every way possible.
I think I’ll watch batman unburied now. It sounds cool.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I believe that in the Dark Knight Harvey Dent is accused of one more murder than we actually see him commit. We see him kill three people (Maroni, the driver, the corrupt cop) but Gordon says he killed four people, so who's the fourth?
Gordon doesn't hear back from Anna Ramirez so I always thought he might assume she's also dead but she just got knocked out by the luck of the coin toss.
And I guess Harvey Dent is gone... Only Two Face remains. As in there's no turning back from murder. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

The gunman on the left side of the screen right before Maroni gets into his limo has a blink-and-you-miss-it moment where Harvey pulls him off-camera, kills him, and takes his place.
It's him, Detective Wuertz in the bar, Maroni and his Driver, then Harvey himself.

The BttF IDW comics indeed show how Marty meets Doc. I think Marty was trying to get a baseball that went through a window, and Marty figured a unique was of getting into said window that Doc was impressed by, and said he was welcome visiting his lab whenever
That still doesn't explain how Indiana Jones didn't die of dehydration or starvation while sitting on top of that submarine for days or possibly weeks.
Here's another mystery solved: Nitro Zeus loses his head in _Transformers: The Last Knight._ There's another character called Cogman who introduces himself as a "Headmaster." The original Transformers line had toys called Headmasters featuring small robots who transform into the heads of larger bodies. A toy was released in which Cogman transforms into the head of Nitro Zeus. We must campaign to #RestoreTheBayverse so we can see the iconic character Cogman connect to the body of the iconic character Nitro Zeus.

Hi, guys. Love your videos. My favourite movie mystery is about the character Ben Gardner in Jaws.
In the scene where Hooper finds the Great White tooth under Ben Gardner's wrecked boat, there's a jump scare where a corpse head pops out, scaring Hooper and causing him to drop the tooth.
The next day, Brodie and Hooper tell the mayor that Hooper found the tooth but dropped it after "having an accident" and Brodie says there have been "two deaths" (the girl at the start and the little boy), so why don't they mention the corpse under the boat?
Also, I know the corpse jump scare was re-shot late in production, but it was still in the original script. So, if I could boil it down, my question is this; "In Jaws, what happened to Ben Gardner, his boat, and his assistant?" Thanks. 😁

The end of inception was already solved by Michael Cane. He said that Nolan told him whatever scenes he was in were real life.
I assumed as a kid that Marty was the Doc's assistant, like an after-school job. I sometimes worked helping old neighbors with stuff.

During the opening credits, which is chock full to the brim with storytelling (the clocks, the TV set to the news, the dog food that hasn't been eaten, the toast that is burning, the degrees and newspaper about his mansion burning down), there is a basic cot with a trash can next to it, which is overflowing with wrappers for Burger King fast food.
Easy to miss, but next, we see Marty tear out of Doc's place when he's late for school, and right next door? A Burger King.
Just to establish, he lives next to one, and goes there a lot. SO WHAT, you might be yelling. I'll tell you what - I'll tell you bloody right now!
Marty's brother has to go to work that night, has to take the bus. And what uniform is he wearing? Burger King!
Now we have a chain - Marty's brother has Marty take him to work (they only have one car, he has the most free time and a license, and sometimes Biff borrows it, so it has to be at the house when not at the lake,probably). Marty comes into the Burger King and sees Doc ordering a Whopper with whatever (They don't have DoorDash!) so Marty follows, does a light B&E, sees a bunch of gnarly stuff, and Doc is like "Well if you think it's cool, I'm not mad about you breaking in."
Because otherwise it's much weirder. A 70+ year old man luring a teenager into his house because of pre-destination? I hate it! I don't like it!

The Inception thing is silly because the top isn’t even Mr Inception’s totem, his totem is his wedding ring. The top was Mrs Inception’s totem.
There is a deleted scene on the Bluray which shows that Indiana Jones lashes himself to the periscope for the sub with his whip. I would share a link to the footage but then this will probably fall into spam and be forever lost.
In inception. His totem is actually his wedding ring. Through the movie if he’s in a dream or out of a dream it will consistently be on his hand or off his hand.

I'm pretty sure in Raiders of the Lost Ark, at the end of the little travel montage of the submarine going back tot he island; in the last shot as it's approaching the island, if you zoom in you can actually see Indy hanging onto the parascope of the sub
Suicide Squad mystery: who shoots down the chinook helicopter when the squad first travels into the city? Answer: It was supposed to be joker and his thugs in the first attempt or first action in an attempt to retrieve Harley. This was supposed to play as one of probably multiple scenes were Joker wants Harley back and Harley wants to leave the squad but when Joker finally gets the chance to take her she decides to stay with the squad and joker makes a getaway by tossing a grenade (the shot shown in the first trailer).
Okay, here's a mystery: In Jurassic Park, when they roll up to the T-Rex pen, the ground is level. There's a goat, then there's a T-Rex walking around, and everything looks like it's on pretty much the same level as the road. BUT (insert gnome), when the T-Rex shoves the car over the concrete barrier and into the pen, there's this big dropoff and the car falls through the tree and the kid wets his pants. Like the enclosure is actually a huge pit, which would sort of defeat the whole purpose of trying to display a T-Rex.
So the mystery is... how did the lawyer taste? Must've been pretty awful, I think.
Even with Heath Ledger alive, Nolan wasn't sure if he was making another Batman movie. He didn't even want to make The Dark Knight until Warner Brothers ponied up a lot of money to bring him back.

2. What was Biff's life like between 1955 and 1985? (Not the Biff that got the almanac, but the Biff that ended up Washing and Waxing cars)
3. What was the transformation like for Pamela Isely in Bayman and Robin?
If I remember correctly at the end of Batman and Robin, Mr. Freeze finds out that she was the one who killed his wife so he pays her visit when she's in jail and I'm assuming kills her or freezes her. As for her getting swallowed by giant plant, I always assumed that the police found her and that's how she ends up in jail at the end.
