The phrase "You should've seen it in color" is another way of saying you should've been there or you had to be there in real life to really understand what it was like.
One of my favorite songs. As a young child, I used to sit for hours and look at the pictures of my grandfather in Belgium during WW II. After my parents passed away, I got those photos. They are my prized possession. My wife had my grandfather’s Army Company’s photo framed for Fathers Day. It is proudly displayed above my desk in my home office. Great reaction! Love the channel!
I had this song played at my father's funeral. Every scenario in this song matched his life. He grew up dirt poor in Alabama (not unusual during the depression). Joined the navy at 17, fought in the Korean war and then got married. He worshipped my mom and she felt the same way about him. He worked 2 or 3 jobs to take care of us & provide opportunities for us to have choices. I always loved him but I've come to realize what a truly great man he was. Not in a big way, just in who he was. Fear, bravery, love. It's the story of his life.
I make my kids learn what past generations endured. So many kids and young adults today complain about the pettiest things, and they have no clue what most people lived through. It's a good lesson needed to have strength and character. Our grandparents and great grandparents endured the depression, WW2, no conveniences, and they worked their butts off to build their lives.
One of my favorite memories of my grandparents is sitting with them and looking through the old photo albums. The stories of family history are priceless. With all the photos now being digital, I feel bad for the upcoming generations who won't have that experience.
Jamey Johnson is real deal country. This song will have everybody singing at a bar down here. Great video guys. Every upload the quality/editing gets better.
This song makes me think about my parents. They married in 1956, she was 15 and he was 17. They had five children, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. They was married almost 62 years, my mother passed 6 months before their anniversary.
"You can't see what those shades of gray keep covered; You should have seen it in color." such a profound lyrical statement, a powerful song. I really enjoyed your reaction, thanx👍 Here's another band to check out, in case you're interested "Rod Stewart - Your In My Heart (From One Night Only)" Stewart is a British rock and pop singer/songwriter. He has a distinctive raspy singing voice that send the goosebumps running. Stewart is among the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 250 million records worldwide.
Crazy to think how WWII was won by high school teachers, cab drivers, bookkeepers (my uncle), plumbers, garbage men, farm boys, construction workers, high school KIDS…just ordinary dudes, from all walks of life. They answered the call and saved the world. What an incredible generation.
Thank you guys for checking it out and really glad y’all liked it. This songs hit or miss. The songs good. The music video is sooo simple but brilliant. It’s really just the story. A lot of people won’t understand till pictures is all they have. Again thank you!
I had two great uncles who were in WW2. One was a pilot and flew DC3 transport aircraft so he never saw combat. The other was one of Rudder's Rangers at D-Day and saw a lot of combat. I can imagine that if they were alive today they would be saying what he is saying in this song. It has always been one of my favorite songs.
@@lysiandartie5458 Well the one who flew transport aircraft was killed in a flying accident after the war but the other died in 1996. He didn’t talk a whole lot about it. He was in a POW camp after D-Day. He did talk about his war experience and he did talk about his training but he did not talk about the POW camp.
I have books, and photos from when my family landed in West Virginia and traveled West. Contrasting my great grandpa's WWII letters home to my great grandma. And my grandfather's pictures from the marines on Normandy and jungle warfare and all his paperwork. I can trace my whole family line back in black and white 😍
Another Great Reaction..... Thank You for reading my Comment about "Whiskey Lullaby"..... I Agree that pictures seem to be more special... When you had to Buy a roll Film (usually 24 or 36 pictures on a roll), then Take it somewhere to be processed, and Pay for each copy you wanted to have......
no problem, thank you for watching :) !! and you're 100% right sometimes those pictures would take 1-2 weeks. and the pain you felt when some of the film didn't develop so some of the pictures were lost
2nd verse is my favorite... hes talking about WW2 and I like how he mentioned his tailgunner was just a highschool teacher from New Orleans... really puts into perspective because of the draft for WW2, alot of American "soldiers" were just normal people like me or you who were sent over there to fight
I think..you have a great interest in country music...and the story's they give...good...keep listening..you may like and be surprised..and if you like these sounds and meanings..move on down here to the south..we could use you..we got a different way of looking g at things..you'd be welcome...63 year old former marine from south carolina..
Jamey is by far a member of the country trifecta- Jamey, Willie, and Chris Stapleton. I have seen him six times in concert. No flashing lights and fancy stage tricks. It’s all about the music. He is an ex marine and doesn’t take anything from anyone. Find the video where he blasts a radio station for coming onto his stage and invited to talk to the crowd before he came out. His motto is that he has an agreement with the radio stations. They don’t play his music and he doesn’t listen to theirs.
People now take photos with their phone and don’t have a clue that photos for their parents and grandparents actually took planning and effort. I’m not old enough to know the exclusively black and white era, but I was in my 20s before cameras were on flip phones and nearly 30 before smart phones were a thing. If we wanted to have picture we had to plan ahead and have a camera with us. If not it was all just a memory.
To complain that it takes hour or two. To send video from one side of the country to the other. After listening to this song is irony at it's finest. Back in the times of this song. It took weeks, maybe months to get a information over the same distance. To think how far we have come. Grandparents primary mode of transportation when young was horse and buggy. Now they could go up in space. All in one lifetime. Not to mention the instant communication. Anywhere in world. Grandparents couldn't even call their neighbors.
yea it takes an hour or two every time i need to upload, so if the video gets blocked 2-3 times it can take 5-6 hours to upload, we dont live in the 1800's lol we have full time jobs and dont really get paid for this. but i hope you have a great week buddy
Nice reaction, and got to use the whole video, nice job. Side note: there are a crap ton that are on the more serious side of country that id think you would enjoy. Martina McBride, Craig Morgan, etc..
Please checkout some Morgan Wallen/HARDY duets, they are best friends and have a bunch of songs together. I recommend “He went to Jared” and “Red”. Great reactions yall!
Yes there are hidden messages the first growing on a cotton farm in the great depression. Here your means of income/living just became almost worthless, prices drop, no one buying it. The second was the part about being in a bomber. Most bomber missions, especially in the beginning was like a death sentence. Flying target little self defense or fighter support, yet they still went
You should do high coast of living next with video also do angel and merry go round should just do whole album one best album ever it call that Lonesome song
Would you two please watch this music video: Diamond Rio “Meet In The Middle” (Official Music Video). This song husbands and wives can relate to/can understand.

totally agree, past generations really paved the road for us with their blood sweat and sacrifice !!
And to make our lives possible.

This song reminds me of looking at old pictures with my Grandparents and listening to the stories about them. Learned a lot.
