I am in complete agreement with the reviewer. I tried both types of mattress but found Talalay overall better than the Dunlop in pretty much every category. The only spots where Dunlop won was in support and price. Dunlop is simply more dense. I have the zenhaven mattress by saatva, a Talalay mattress. It has a firm and a soft side. I found the firm a little too firm while the soft was perfect. Talalay also has great bounce, a surprisingly important feature for "bedroom activities". Overall my recommendation goes to Talalay. It's well worth the higher price.

I've tried both and much prefer Dunlop. Talalay is too soft and lacks spinal support. Talalay is also too bouncy and wobbles too much. Even when Talalay is just in the comfort layer it's too much. Dunlop makes the mattress feel more like an expensive pocket spring mattress without the downsides of spring. In the end, it's all down to your personal preference. Definitely try before you buy.

@@EllieLove21 I'm trying right now to decide what topper I'm getting. Pain in the rear! I thought I wanted Dupont then Talalay, but he said glue and seams...NO! I want my matress topper to be one piece. Cool and not sure about soft or med. because I have has neck and shoulder surgeries. Oh and to top it off....now my damn hip and knee hurts. Uuugg

The important thing for those looking for a non-toxic bed is that Dunlop can be made purely from plant materials whereas Talalay always has synthetic materials blended in that are very toxic. I just ordered a soft Dunlop mattress from Sleep on Latex so I don't yet know how it feels, but I'm looking into an extra-soft Talalay topper if the Dunlop mattress is too firm for me. However, I'm not able to find a Talalay topper that would be 100% natural and non-toxic unfortunately.

Hello Green Wood. Hope you sleep well on it. But the information is absolutely untrue. There are a lot of online companies that sell only Dunlop. They tell that Talalay needs synthetic (and is toxic), and Dunlop not. And that that is the reason why they sell Dunlop (sic). In fact they both need some synthetic in the process to make it from a liquid latex into a solid latex foam. In the end result however for both there may be no synthetics.
Both the dunlop process and the talalay process can use synthetic latex or fillers, but can also be made solely with natural latex. Therefore it is important to look for the Eco_institute certificate. That can only be achieved when non toxic and made consisting of only pure natural latex.
Also you sometimes read that Dunlop is biodegradable. But both Dunlop and Talalay are made to stay, so you can not put it to landfill and hope it biodegrades. Also here, ask for proof, don't just believe everything.
Then sometimes it is said that Organic dunlop means that it is made with Organic while talalay can not be Organic. Both Talalay and Dunlop can use latex without harmful pesticides and fertilizers. The GOTS certification allows both Talalay and Dunlop to be turned into organic mattresses, while GOLS does not, as it is a certificate that was made with local Asian dunlop manufacturers and is checked by the local certifier..
Instead of only looking at the latex, make sure also the additive are safe. Eco Institut again can be a indicator.

Dunlop can be very soft... denser doesn’t necessarily mean firmer.

We had an all latex mattress and it was a HUGE mistake! It is extreeeeemely heavy and veeeery difficult to move from room to room and house to house! If there were some way to enclose it in a frame with handles, then we might consider getting one in the future.
