    I bought a 3" soft latex topper from SleeponLatex and a regular 9" mattress in medium. Together, they make the PERFECT mattress! Also, much, much cheaper than other organic mattress companies. If you're on the fence, know that this is the ONLY mattress that has worked for me. I've tried micro coil over coil, a "medium firm" Ikea latex mattress which was like a rock, and so, so many other mattresses. I'm 56 and often suffer from bursitis in my hips which has resolved all by itself with this mattress.

      Glad that this has worked out for you. Yes, a 3" natural latex topper will do an amazing job at contouring the body, and in some cases, will relieve ailments in the back, hips and shoulders. I hope the topper will serve you well for many years to come.

      What a great idea. So simple and ‘just right’. My new latex mattress with coils seems like it’s gonna be the right one 😴🌝, after quite the protracted search.
      For pressure relief, I’m awaiting delivery of the soft version of this ⬆️ topper. A gel topper’s also coming, but I’d prefer to leave it boxed if the soft latex will do the trick. Better to avoid putting a gel topper on a latex mattress. Like, why 🤔
      Wish I’d discovered this channel a year ago, before making poorly informed decisions while mentally and physically ravaged by sleep deprivation. Sounds dramatic, but 💯 true. Don’t let it happen to you. 👺

      Glad you like it. Yes, a natural latex topper can help relieve pressure. That's the soreness that prompts you to change sleeping positions. Natural latex is superior to polyurethane (memory foam, gel foam, etc.) in this regard. Less soreness, less changing of sleeping positions means that you can fall asleep faster.

    After watching your review I think I am going to purchase one of these toppers. I currently have a Zinus all foam memory foam mattress. It is super plush and provides great pressure relief, however it sleeps super hot. What size and firmness level do you recommend? I am a side sleeper, around 5'10" and 200 lbs. I don't necessarily want to change the feel of my mattress, it is comfortable, but I want to get some heat reduction.

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I recommend the Pure Green medium firmness: www.naturalmattressfinder.com/sunrising-bedding-100-latex-mattress-review/ . Since you are a side sleeper, I suggest that you go with the 3" version as it will allow for proper ventilation. A 3-inch topper will guarantee that you won't bottom out on the topper as this would impede proper ventilation.

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello, thanks for leaving a comment.
      The medium Pure Green topper is still in excellent shape after daily use. There are no signs of sagging or indentation.
      The medium firmness has just the right balance between softness and support. I'm an all-around sleeper, and it gives me good pressure relief while sleeping on my side. This means that I can sleep on my side for long periods of time without feeling any achiness, which would make me want to change positions.
      For most side sleepers and all-around sleepers, the medium firmness is a great option. I suggest going with the 3" medium if you're a side sleeper and want to get the ultimate comfort. Learn more about it here: www.naturalmattressfinder.com/recommends/pure-green-topper-medium/

    Is the medium firm more durable than the soft? Will the topper soften over time? Does a change in room temperature affect the topper ( for example, some memory foam hardens when it’s cold - does latex react the same way?) Is there a difference in heat retention between soft and medium - or between using the side with holes vs the flat side? Would adding an organic cotton cover compromise the functionality /heat dispersion of the topper? So many questions! :) thanks !

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The firmness does not change the durability. The firmness will not change if you keep it in a room temperature range. Heat retention will depend on your body weight. If the latex foam is over-compressed, yes it will lose some breathability. But it will still be more breathable than polyurethane of the same thickness and density. The flat or pinhole side will not make a significant difference. Adding an organic cotton cover will not significantly affect the breathability, and the topper will be well protected against tears, dust etc.

    Would be nice if you did a close up pressing down on the topper to give a better idea how firm it actually is.
    I have a firm mattress, been shopping for toppers. I tried a memory foam one but it was way too squishy, I sank right through to the mattress. I've heard latex is more supportive, but for the options I've found available to order (like this one) I have no way of knowing HOW much more supportive they are.
    Please consider adding a demonstration to show firmness for those like me in the future.

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Zerocontrast,
      thank you for your suggestion. The feel of natural latex is unlike any polyurethane product in that it is highly supportive and pressure relieving. A medium feel topper is good for most people. I would recommend a 2 or 3 inch Dunlop latex topper. Latex foam is also more resilient and durable than polyurethane or memory foam.
      My suggestion is that you try out a medium firmness Dunlop latex topper and see if it fits your needs. Give it a week before deciding on it. In some cases, you may be able to return the topper for a refund if you are unsatisfied with it. But, my guess is that you will be pleasantly surprised with the buoyant feel of the latex.

    I'm considering getting the 1inch medium topper to soften a bit my firm mattress, because I think the soft topper would be too soft. Im a side sleeper and I enjoy a bed that is a bit of the firmer side for support even though I'm only 56 kilos, so I hope the medium topper would be good enough to add a bit of softness. Hope it makes a difference and won't be too hard. I'd appreciate a feed back and thoughts.

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I think medium will be perfect for you. My Spindle latex mattress has 3" medium latex foam and I love the feel. I'm around 71kg, and my bodyweight is very spread out because I'm quite tall. The dunlop latex is very contouring. You'll quickly notice this if you've never slept on a latex mattress.
      However, I would go with at least two inches for the topper thickness if you are a side sleeper. You need the extra thickness in the hip area to achieve proper pressure relief. Compare all the natural latex toppers by thickness on my handy comparison chart: www.naturalmattressfinder.com/toppers-comparison/

      No, don't worry, you will not get the feeling that you are sinking. The 2" minimum that I suggested is just to ensure that you will get enough pressure relief at the hips without bottoming out. Natural latex is excellent for contouring. But, it must be thick enough for it to contour properly.

    Would the latex toppers work if layered together with other toppers?
    I have a 7.5cm laygel topper (synthetic latex) which is plush yet supportive on top of a medium tension, medium feel pocket sprung mattress.
    But on my side I can feel the firmness of the pocket sprung mattress underneath pressing into my shoulder as it doesn't have much give despite being a medium.
    Would it work if I put say a medium latex topper in between them for some extra cushioning depth and support?

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may try gettting a firm or medium natural latex topper to add to your current topper. Your current topper is about 3" and that should be sufficient. But, if you are feeling the hardness of the mattress, your current topper may be too plush and not providing enough support. I suggest trying a 3" natural latex topper by itself, and if that doesn't work, you could combine it with your current topper. Yes, the Pure Green Medium topper is what I would recommend in your situation. I recommend the 3" topper but the 2" might be ok, depending on you and your partner's bodyweight. If either of you is above 180 pounds, then I recommend the 3".
      Your new mattress is providing some cusioning, but not enough pressure relief. When you wake up with soreness at the neck, shoulders and hips, the mattress is not providing enough pressure relief. Or it might be too firm for your bodyweight.

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A mattress protector or mattress pad may help limit the smell that the latex gives off initially. www.naturalmattressfinder.com/non-toxic-mattresss-protector-comparison/
      Yes, exposing it to direct sunlight will speed up the process, but it is a big hassle to do. If you want to take that route, put a fitted sheet onto the bottom of the topper and roll it up. Then wrap and tie it with a clean and sturdy rope to keep it from opening. This is how I move latex layers around without damaging them. Latex foam is tough, but it is prone to ripping and scuffs.

      Hi KK, most people are satisfied with the medium firmness. There are a number of different factors that come into play when choosing a bed. In your case, the bed is too firm. I see that it's on Amazon, and it says it's natural/non-toxic/etc., but I'm wondering, how can they sell a mattress that's actually natural when the Consumer Product Safety Commission started *requiring* fire retardant chemicals to be in every mattress in 2007? How can they sell a mattress on Amazon like that without fire retardant chemicals? I used to recommend the Sunrising mattress, bu not anymore because it has too many synthetic components. The fire barrier is a synthetic fibre and has fire retardant chemicals. Third-party certifications were pending at the time I made the review, but when I last checked, they still hadn't been certified.
      Mattresses are not required to have chemicals in the fire barrier, but they are required to pass an open flame test. It is the UL Certification www.naturalmattressfinder.com/all-natural-mattress-certifications-and-ratings-guide/
      I suggest looking for a mattress that is certified by GOLS, Greenguard Gold or Oeko Tex such as the mattresses in this list: www.naturalmattressfinder.com/latex-mattresses/

    The part about the different feel of latex density is just the opposite - where the pin holes are is the softer kind of side as due to the manufacturing process the heavier rubber particles settle to the bottom of the layer (the side where you refer as flush hence it's more dense compared to the top side where the holes are )

    I'm six three and weigh about 215 and I'm a side sleeper. I have a new memory foam mattress that's a little too firm so I want to add a topper. I was told that I should get the 3 inch soft version. Do you agree? Thanks!

      Hi George,
      yes, the Pure Green soft natural latex topper would be an excellent choice. The 3" thickness is also an excellent choice for your bodyweight. If you are unsatisfied with the feel of it, you can always arrange for a return or exchange. You will have at least 30 days for most brands, so give it at least two weeks before deciding.

      It is not available in malaysia. However, I think Malaysia is a latex producing country. There might be some local companies that sell natural latex foam topper layers.

      @@NaturalMattressFinder the latex in these mattresses is from Sri Lanka, but they are manufactured in Malaysia (Foam Made on the Earthfoam Production Line in Malaysia), so it is possible this person could just find out where that factory is and buy directly from them.

    Can this topper be used on a stand alone basis?

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Harilal, this is not recommended, as your bed will not be a standard height, which will make getting in and out of it quite awkward. You may also feel some pressure points at the hips and shoulders because of the lack of cusioning. Using a topper as a standalone is ok for temporary setup, but you will miss the additional layers that are normally used in a mattress like a spring coil unit and fibre layer that is quited in the cover.

    I've been considering a Sleep On Latex topper to prolong the life of my mattress and add more firmness. But, I don't know which thickness to get. I currently use a 2 inch gel memory foam on a firm mattress, and I wake up every morning with severe lower back pain. The sinking & slow reaction time of the memory foam is horrible! As a side sleeper, I don't like the feeling of being trapped or sunk in. I know I want a firm topper, but not sure whether to get a 2 in or 3 in. What would you recommend? I'm 5'9" & 140 lbs.

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since you are a side sleeper, I recommend going with the 3" version: www.naturalmattressfinder.com/recommends/pure-green-by-sleep-on-latex-firm/ . Your body weight is much more concentrated when you sleep on your side, so just make sure the latex foam doesn't get too compressed, I suggest the 3".
      Yes, I have heard many similar complaints from people that have tried memory foam. You will get much more consistent support and pressure relief from natural Dunlop latex foam like in the Pure Green topper.

      @@NaturalMattressFinder Ok, thank you. Another question, how FIRM would you say the Sleep On Latex 44 Ild is? Firm like a padded massage table (comfortable), or hard as a carpeted floor (uncomfortable)? I like sleeping on my sides mainly, but also my stomach so I want to make sure the topper has enough support, yet feels cozy.

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EllieLove21 I would say that it is more like a massage table. The firm model is made to accomodate stomach sleepers as well as people that find the average mattress too soft.

      @@NaturalMattressFinder For comparison purposes, what would the two-inch firm (44 ILD) feel like for a side sleeper?

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EllieLove21 This is a good choice if you like a firmer feel. Ultimately, the impression you have regarding the firmness is subjective. I currently sleep on the Spindle mattress with the 3" FIRM layer on top. I find it perfect for all-around sleeping. If your body weight is below 170lbs, the 2" should be fine. If you weigh more, I suggest the 3".

    • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, it is actually very comfortable to sleep on from a temperature and humidity standpoint. I never had the feeling that I was overheating on the Pure Green topper.
      Since it is made from natural latex using the Dunlop processing method, the cell structure is open and promotes ventilation. Additionally, the ventilation holes help to channel excess heat and moisture away from your body. • @NaturalMattressFinder
      @NaturalMattressFinder  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This depends on the person. Body weight and size as well as your sleeping position and firmness preference will all influence how you will firm you will find the natural latex. Most people find the medium firmness ideal. The feel of natural latex is very different from polyurethane. Natural latex feel much more buoyant and pressure relieving. Plus, it is much more durable than polyurethane.

      Hi and sorry for the issue you are having with the natural latex topper. How long have you had this topper for? If you are able to air out the topper for a few days in a room with open window, that would be ideal. Airing it out outside under a roof or awning is better, but not always possible. You have many layers between you and the topper, so I'm surprised that the smell is so strong. I will make an inquiry with one of my suppliers and see if there are any other solutions.
