@@AutoAuctionRebuilds before you start the engine one good thing I like to do is check the air box and check the air filter to see if it's wet or if there's any flood type debris in it. I live in New Orleans and it floods often out here so that's what I typically do with any car that I purchase after a flood.

I would instantly take this back to auction for sale after doing:
    interior detail for smells
    exterior detail
    oil change
    transfluid change at dealer
have dealer scan the car and print out the diagnostics that show everything is clear/working and leave the printout in the car and the service records
    easy money.

I've bought several flood cars. Some of the best deals if you know what you are looking for. Always check the air box first to see if it has water in it or indications it got wet. Pull a spark plug to check the combustion chamber, change all the fluids. There are vents on the tops of some transmissions and rear diff housings.

This is the catch of the century mate.
I think with some minor investment in carpeting and the work at Ford, as well as detailing and paint you’ll have a car, you won’t want to part with!!

Looks like a great deal Randy! It would be interesting to see what CarMax would give you for it, as they only offered me $10k for my 16 GT with a total loss on it. But I too saved $15k keeping the car and fixing it vs buying an equivalent replacement. Hope it cleans up cheap so you can enjoy it for a bit!

Nice ride, the water damage does not look extensive. The only issue with flood cars is the gremlins start showing once rust sets in, hope this is not the case. It's a great spec.

I unknowingly bought a cleaned up Katrina car back in 08 a low mileage 02 Dodge Stratus. The car had every interior light plus burned out plus some fuses a tail light and headlight ended up being replaced, the first real give away was on a humid day it would smell a little musty but then I but the rear seat down and found a rust line on the back of the seat they missed in the cleanup. I had a few minor problems in the short time I owned the car 3 months because it was finally totaled once and for all having being rear ended by a Comcast cable truck doing 75 when I was doing 25.

Flush all fluids (engine oil, transmission oil) might also empty the fuel tank to make sure no water reached inside, replace all filters (oil, fuel, air..) the coolant, brake-fluid, give a nice detail outside and inside get all seats out & clean carpets as well, then check for water intrusion on floor level to all electric wiring couples & cables and if all is ok then put all back and keep the car for a while (not a must to drive it but few miles more wouldn't do no harm) is quite nice such a car with low mileage.. after all that if he still wants to sell it, then yeah it will make the profit for sure being a cool model with low mileage, but i would probably like to see Randy son driving it when it will have driving license.. ;0)

Flood 1: fully functioning, and only needs a deep cleaning. Flood 2: fluids diluted by water, on top of the Flood 1 rating. Flood 3: mechanical damage caused by hydraulic lock in addition to the Flood 1 and 2 ratings. Flood 4: significant damage from sitting in standing fresh water for a significant period of time. Flood 5: salt water flood damage; the vehicle is issued a certificate of destruction and cannot and should not be repaired.

$750 at the dealer $1500 for detailing is my guess. Of course I am in California and prices are higher here so difficult to estimate for your area. It is a great deal if you get the right price when it resold. Would love to see a better sales venue than Copart or the insurance auction.

far as I would be "much more" concerned about getting the car up on a lift, to see if there was any undercarriage damage from fork lifting the mustang - when they brought it out to you. Get the car on a lift ... those newer mustang premiums have magna ride suspension, electronic "variable exhaust" don't they... which allows you to change the loud, quiet, etc... with press of a button.
Still, congratulations....you got seem to have gotten a good deal.... well worth the speculation... you got a killer deal! It always good to have 'cash money'; disposable income - in hand - just in case a Great Deal falls in your lap.

years ago i worked for a all Ford salvage / rebuilder in Oklahoma. Rebuilding mostly F series Diesel pickups, some Lincolns, and higher end Fords. We did top quality work and stood behind everything we sold. If i did my job properly than even an experienced mechanic should have trouble trying to find the what was damaged. I never hid damage. I repaired the damage. builders who cut corners give the business a bad name. I have seen other builders do things like stacking shims under a cab mount to line up the body instead of fixing the frame that is bent. I have always said. You can fix it right or fix it twice, you decide. I have driven many wrecked cars. Some worse than others. But i have yet to drive a title. nice score for you.

I can smell that interior from here 😀 You got a great deal and I'm sure once its been cleaned up you'll still be ahead of the game. I special ordered my 21 GT/CS (velocity blue with manual MT82 6 speed) in June of 21 and took receipt in August 21. I love it! It's obvious you will too. I applied Gyeon MOHS EVO ceramic coating which took me 3 days between prepping (wash, clay bar, polish, polish cleaner etc.) and application. I know in my area that would have cost at least $1,500 to $2,000+ if I had a shop do it. I'm sure applying PPF would be more. I'm guessing it may run you between $4,000 and $5,500.00 (paint correction, ceramic coating, interior clean up) since they will remove the interior. I'm guessing Dealer cost for fluid changes will be $1,500+. Good luck with the salvage. Hope to see more progress video soon.

That's an amazing Mustang. I think you should keep it as an investment car. Plus it's obvious you love it. Who wouldn't? Also, Mustangs have been good to AAR - after watching this episode I went back in the archives and watched the white Mustang that you sent to MAACO for a color change to red. That one was a really nice honest car. And Nick was in that video too taking off the hood latch. He's destined to drive a Mustang one day.
    Great video, great job! 👍👍👍👍

I’m so excited watching this video like it was my own car. This is my dream car hopefully within 2 more years I’ll be able to buy this car. But nice find brother. She looked so good after that first wash can’t imagine after you take her to that detail shop. 🔥🔥🔥

The California Special in the S550 platform are all Premium trim cars; heated/cooled seats, Sync3, and selectable drive modes. The California Special does have unique upholstered seats with Alcantara insert between the leather sides. That Coyote and 10 spd auto are pretty darn quick straight from the factory in the 1/4 mile.

Your a braver man than I not knowing how it flooded or what it was flooded with you drove it home? It could have been a rain flood or the always foul street sewer backup? No body damage means it was sitting still probably. Giver looks like you did well.

I think you can make a few thousand on this car with the right buyer. But a reasonable person with 35k cash isn’t going to buy a flooded one of these. Really nice car. I’m glad it runs great. I hope you turn a profit. Great buy. I’m hoping for the best.

Gorgeous Mustang, I have a 2020 Mustang EcoBoost High performance package and it has the same grill, splitter and diffuser of that car, I opted for the red interior on mine. I love it, I got it as my gas saver because my truck gets 12 mpg and gas is 6.29 for the 91 it requires here in California.
