Audi not only puts the timing components on the rear of the engine; they also use plastic guides that shatter, and these 3.0 Supercharged cars will go out of timing just a tooth and run fine but its a major hassle to ever get it right...
Sam this is not the supercharged one lol this ones the 3.2l v6
I love the wheels on the police car. Those are worth 400 dollars by themselves
time for a new timing service
@@-_JayR_- doesn’t matter. If you know the architecture of these engines the timing drive is essentially the same on the 3.2 and 3.0T engines, and they both have problems with the upper tensioner/guides failing. That is the exact issue here. No doubt about it
@@hgas9631I had an a6 with the 3.2 and you are exactly right. I will never have a 3.2 again.
Last year, I bought a 2015 Audi Q7 for $3700 from, surprisingly, a salvage yard. Besides the weather beaten paint finish, it was in very good condition. I replaced the engine for $4K and it's been very reliable since then.
Wow, solid deal. 2015 Q7 for say, $8k?! Well done. Find me a deal like that! :P
My wife and I bought a Q5 3.2 S Line with 15,000 miles on it abut ten years ago. It was a good car. Respectable power, comfortable, and surprisingly reliable.
Low oil pressure. Randy: let's give it some gas lol
Honestly a good test, if an engine loses oil pressure you can tell by ear and if it does you're already screwed
Car needs an upper timing chain tensioner on the driver side. That’s always the case with these and correlation codes. We see it all the time. About $1200 at an independent. No need to remove the engine
I agree and it’s what’s causing the misfires too.
It’s not misfiring at all.
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds well you did have misfire codes but no, they don’t typically cause hard misfire (flashing CEL). The car is probably down a little on power and that’s about it for now. Chances are broken guides on the tensioner as well as the small guide on top. It’s always the driver side that seems to go first.
@@hgas9631it's almost guaranteed once they get past 80k miles
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds I would consider you remove the left (drivers side) valve/camshaft cover to inspect the chain tensioner. They are usually made out of plastic/nylon -- Mike can help you replace it if it's broken.
When your battery goes dead for a long time, run a vehicle specific, Drive Cycle, so the computer can reboot. It will throw codes that aren't a problem because the computer can't communicate with it. One of the things I had to do in my Tahoe was start if from cold and let it completely warm up while running a lot of electrical items. He ran the AC during warm up. My oil pressure sender is faulty. Sensors can be bad, disconnected, corroded connectors or have damaged wires.
I would imagine you can get your money back just selling it as a parts car.
Great video. The Auto Auction Rebuilds magic continues. Thank you.
It is a GORGEOUS car. I hope Mike buys it and fixes it up. I love how he is so detailed on his cars. I was surprised you didn't just go a battery to begin with instead of going through all the trouble. It's not like you won't make the money back. I wonder if the sunroof just didn't have enough power?
Nice Q5, hope you get everything sorted out! It seems something will go wrong with that price! Keep it up randy we love it!
I think timing chain for Audi is a good fix. Good deal! I miss the collab vlogs with MW Mike!!!! Please more adventures together. Love when the 2 of you are together, double trouble and awesome!!! 🙏🙏🙏💯💯👌👌👌
Fans of the "swamp vette" can't wait! Randy bought a police car that appears to have the "Swamp Intetcepter " package! Keep up the awesome work.
All I want to say is I wish u good health so u can continue these amazing and entertaining series. Each night after work I like to relax and have a glass of wine and tune in.
Great show today Randy I’m halfway through the video and completely enjoying your Audi drama. I hope this works out for you.
Good afternoon Randy from @Auto Action Rebuild always enjoy watching your channel 🙏😇
That SHORT test drive really hits home. I always take a few laps around the block if im leery of a problem before I take it on the long drive. Can't risk getting stranded
Vary sweet Audi indeed. Nice job on getting them. Keep up the great work.
I guess it is night and day with the two Audis. Great videos as always. I always love your videos and what did you purchase today. Good luck with this one. Enjoy the other one. It looks like fun.
I have a 4.2 ‘08 Q7, and watching Randy try to figure everything out was so much fun lol. Now you know what Audi people go through! But I am proud to say that as of last week, every single thing on the car is officially working! The air suspension was a hassle to fix, but I got it. Her name is Betty, and I love her. I’ve been an Audi guy my whole life, and those older Q5s and Q7s are absolute beasts. A lot of people complain that older Audis have engine issues, but if you treat them well, they’ll treat you well right back. I’m currently looking into getting a 2020 or 2021 SQ5 as well, so I’m excited about that too! Hope the Q5 treats you well, Randy! Good luck!
You took a gamble twice in a row and it paid off, both times. I am happy for you.
Welcome back to Audi Auction Rebuilds
Hello Randy. The 2010 Audi Q5 is a good looking SUV. Good luck on finding out if there is anything wrong with it or will it run and drive.
I have S-Line of this model, with the sunroof, the control is centre top of front windows. The big round button. This is my wifes car and we love it, especially for long trips.
You better buy a lottery ticket fast! 😂😂 2 Audis and no real issues! 😮 You got lucky again! I say the oil pressure switch is the issue and it is a common issue on these and some others. Way to go.
The sound system in these are next level !
Keep up the good work randy
Randy on your S4 it was a common issue on the convertibles that the rear glass would slightly fall down and prevent the top from going down. If you search up high peak autos audi a4 convertible and go to 21:30 he talks about this further.
Fix it right and resell it Randy...might want to service the transmission they are known to crap out on Audis..love the channel
At what mileage does it need a timechain change?
It’s insane that manufacturers removed a simple oil dipstick forcing you to use, in my opinion, an unreliable computer readout or
forcing you to bring it to the dealer for an $$$$ diagnostic.
I really wish I became a mechanic. Haha
W'eve been driving that identical car for the last ten years....road trips of 7K miles and 5K miles with no troubles. Smooth, comfortable and runs all day at 80 mph (the speed limit in many western states). Nothing spent on repairs (except a battery (!) and tires
Nice Q5, hope you get everything sorted out! It seems something will go wrong with that price!
Great one😎🔥👌
Looks like you scored on this Audi with only a couple of issues! But time will tell! Good cleaning it will be nice! I like it!! Can’t wait for the panther car!!
I dont know about you, or the others, but I'd love to see more Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda and some French cars on the channel!
Great video 👍
I’d say change the battery. Put in the correct battery and there is a good chance the faults might go away. I drive Audi/VW cars and have found when the battery is bad my dash is like Xmas. Change the battery and drive around and in my case they all go out. Worth a try 😅
Hello Randy how you doing buddy I'm just asking how long does your battery booster charge
If the oil pressure sensor is bad (which I don’t think it is) it would probably affect the camshaft timing because the car thinks it’s on low oil pressure so it could only need an oil pressure sensor
Exactly what i was thinking
Go on randy good on you selling them other cars man, I'm from UK bro and know many ppl with Audi's man and not one of them been having trouble with them fella good vehicles as long as the normal servicing is done every 6/12 months you should be good man
What is the practical purpose for not allowing you to check the engine oil with a dip stick? I can't think of one.
That oil pressure light might not be wrong, I bought a used A3 with the same intermittent low oil pressure warning and it turns out the oil pickup was blocked with oil sludge, all it took to fix it was to drop the oil pan and cleaning up the strainer and the light was gone.
The sunroof may work!! Audis usually stop sending power to unimportant things, once you get a new battery and eve thing reset it should be fine!!
I wonder if that is what is wrong with the Nav and Camera too? I was thinking the sunroof was a battery issue also. When he couldn't open the back I was thinking it was probably on lock.
I’m an certified Audi tech. It’s not supercharged. Naturally aspirated 3.2. It probably just needs a oil pressure switch. They normally go bad. If it has correlation faults, you can change the timing chain guides without removing the motor due to the fact that the chains do not stretch
That's a hot looking Q5, I have a friend who has a 21 q5 and he absolutely loves it! I've been looking at maybe buying a q5 for a little while now.
I think it will come back with a fresh battery. Maybe fix the 2 issues and send it down the road for a profit!
i love the 3.2 engine,pulls like a beast
Randy! My friend bought this from auction and we got it fixed it about $400 in parts and fluids.
Great video Greetings from Amsterdam 👌✅
Check that fsi engine timing chain and chain guides they are notorious for breaking
Give it a timing chain and timing chaine guides service and you can make big profit they do 17k $ in europe
After you drove it and the engine light went out, did you check codes again?
In my experience oil pressure sensors are sensitive to system voltage. Both times I have had to replace the battery in a 2008 Ford escape the oil pressure sensors went as well.
That building and pavement needs some love Randy
I’d say you got a steal on that Q5 it’s super nice!!!!
I wouldnt mind seeing the Audi on the channel.
Do a motor flush change the oil and change the oil pressure switch I bet you it will revive that timing system I have done it many times on euro cars usually saves it
love the crown vic, had two love that fox body
Randy, for the sunroof you need to turn knob clockwise and hold, at least my freinds does.
What I do when I purchase a vehicle with a bad battery I go to my local interstate batteries which is about 45 minutes away and I get a new scratch and dent battery which is about a third of the price and a 1 year warranty. Probably something you can benefit from if you have the luxury of an interstate battery location somewhat close to you.
Win.. Randy you rarely loose. You got the itch.
Good morning Randy low oil pressure not good sign just bad switch that not bad if oil
Hello there cowboy here again sorry the charger I'm referring to is a NOCO make sure it has the battery saver repair function 👍
I love these 3.2 engines
I weirdly miss that interior (even though it was and even more so now archaic). 6-7 years ago, my lease car was this generation’s final redesign before they swapped over to the 2020 design. It was a prestige trim SQ5 and was a blast to drive
I like it
I love that audi. And the spare tire subwoofer is a bose thing they did it on nissans back in like 08
Hi Randy. I think this Q5 is Fine. It's a really nice Car. I wouldn't like to have to fix it if something serious went wrong. But your one seems to be Okay. It probably just wants to be driven. 😅😅. Randy the Police Cars 👌👌are going to be Great. I cant wait. Nice wheels. Chat laters 😅😅
During volt low voltage a lot of sensor connections and fuses can get (corroded )unplug and plug back in you will probably clear most of the codes if not all of them
Cant wait to see the ssr finished and get that crown vic going
Low oil pressure warning at Audi means often diagnostic mode after exchanging the battery.....
Nice
Randy what is that noise tick tick is it all right both look good Randy
Love the crown Vic.
Insurance Auto Auctions recently opened a facility near my home. They are calling it their Indianapolis South location, even tho it's closer to Louisville Kentucky. They have a Crothersville Indiana address, but the facility is along the east side of I-65, about a mile north of Uniontown Indiana.
The Samcrac Battery Charging Method, is the same one I use, most times it works, but sometimes it doesn't.
But, I saw a new method, it may or may not work, you basically take a battery and you drop it on the ground and you roll it around, it may or may not work.
Thats some awesome engineering, for a basic part such as a battery...why, just why.
Please do the P71 justice. What a great car.
Check the fuses for the sunroof
You should definitely get that S8 it'll be just like driving a Lamborghini same sound
I got a Ad for Motot Fest that was mad creepy. Says in Hawaii and the whole Ad was the cars surrounded by flames. Crazy!
How long did it take to remove the battery? I've changed 2 batteries in German cars (A3 and Mini Cooper), and it took forever. Mini Cooper was by far the worst. Took 90 minutes, figuring out what needs to be removed, and watching videos of others struggling too.
Need to get a Battery sponsor Randy
I told you would enjoy these Audi randy !!!
I love that car!!! I want to buy it
I have a 2010 Q5 3.2 have owned since new. Hands down the most refined and smooth running/sounding engine Audi has ever produced. It is 6 cyl version of the 5.2l v10 which sounds much nicer than the new 3.0T turbo
You have to try that Lamborghini V10 powered S8! Muffler delete abviously.
Is the Audi convertible for sale???
Now that the battery has 5v..... take your oldest charger and hook that up to only the battery from the car.... no other battery included. Now that it has 5v it might allow the charger to do its job and not default it out. Also, buy an old school charger from the 70's, 80's and it won't have the technology that today's chargers do. It will charge the batter regardless of whether it has 0v or 5v.
Most likely the codes are caused by the low voltage. Thats why they are self resolving. Let us know if that holds up.
Randy you vids are 👍
12:10 I hear a tap
GDI technology... Use a good sludge removal spray to clean the intake valves, change the motor oil and filter for the recommended one and of course a new battery. Should be enough to kill those codes and sell it for a profit.
I used to have the 2011 q5 turbo 4 cylinder oil consumption issue
check the hood lach switch. SOme time doesn't work and mess up computer for oil changes. It starts showing needs oil but is full
I think you did good.
Awesome car's
My wife had a jetty that gave that code. They changed the magnets or something like that and no issues. $328, but I remember feeling like I could have done it myself.
I’ll like to have a suv like that but I need some one like u that really fix the suv shop here only care if u got good money to pay for parts
I got a 2009 if you’re interested! $2000. Needs some work but will be a moneymaker after fixed!
Re calibrate the sensors like you did on the Maserati
would make sense it’s saying “low”if the sensor isn’t working as that would b what would tell the system what pressure it is…
I watched a video on TH-cam of a guy took a stick welder and "boiled" a battery for a few minutes a few times letting it "cool" each time and brought the battery back. Might be worth a look.
All this rigging makes me scared to ever buy one of his cars.
