theres a kangaroo on the sr 20 because nissan did a lot of their machining in aus, they tweeted about it like a week ago saying they put kangaroos on all their parts from aus
Apparently in the 80’s and 90’s they used to do alot of aluminium casting of automotive parts down in Melbourne. So it turns out there is a little ADM in JDM!
Travis LaRoche they still cast carts in Australia, after this year they will be the only car manufacturer left here. Their casting plant in Melbourne has the lowest rejects which makes up for the high wages
Don't feel bad about not getting it done in a day thats a ton of work to do especially when your doing everything correctly! Came together pretty fast tho! Im sure there will be a dyno video in 2 days haha!
Most of these TH-cam car guys Adam tj an other can't do shit they need a mechanic Trevor from motionautotv is the only one that can do all of his own work no help from pro's just himself check our motion auto TV all one word
Does anyone else feel like Adam taked advantage of how nice alberto is? i mean, he's doing him so many favors and uses so much lf his time. He appears in so many videos and makes so much money off his presence. You should get alberto a gift
clint Miller lol he plannned for that expense and it was like two months ago. Right now he's got a ton of parts to order for both engines and he's doing both at the same time
clint Miller between the two engines it probably costs more then the entire ramp.. im going to build a 5.7 hemi in the 600-700 hp range and its going to cost around 20k and thats new parts, he reused a lot
clint Miller not to mention, new rims on the 240, the mid pipe on the mini, the lift, the rest of the stuff for the garage. Adam has more expense's then anyone i know
Justin Walters new rims were most likely given to him for free. Since when he first got them he talked about the brand and how much he liked them and a link to their site in the description.
I like that "Finger got stuck in gussets" he seems like the happiest person on earth. Every time he's in Adams vids, he's always smiling like he doesnt have any problems.
Damn. Alberto is one hell of a skilled builder. He's extremely meticulous and calm during a build especially with all the rowdy people. Props for showing the world his skills! Hope the car goes well and his business grows!
Vax Buster There's sixteen of them and he's selling them as a way to put relief on the parts purchases he's already made. Of the over one million subscribers only 16 people are going to get them so I highly doubt they'll only be $10. Keep in mind they used to sell a lock of Bert's hair for $300
5:50 titanium is not an alloy, it is an element. However, the retainers you used are made out of titanium alloy, which is an alloy that is mostly titanium. Common, it's not that difficult ;)
I don't know about you guys but after I get a steady job with decent pay, the money for leisure will definitely be spent on doing stuff like this. It's one of the only things that I've been wanting to have in my future for a few years now. It's always enjoyable and painful to see people doing stuff like this. Painful because of the waiting part(still studying full time). Enjoyable because it feeds my desire to have it in the future and always a good thing to see people enjoy doing it.
Hey Adam my family owns a engine/machine shop here in Az, a cool thing me and my dad do is take our old parts/scrap and make gifts or art out of them, we've made paper towel holders out of rocker shafts and pistons and a clock out of a flywheel and spark plugs, and much more, so your keychain idea would be pretty cool! Great vid keep it up
Now I understand why you guys don't understand what real engine building consists of. I wouldn't have done anything with a head with even one bent valve. I'd be replacing the guides.
Hey adam I've been subscribed for just over 3 years the first video I saw was "webisod 10 : lens hit " and ever since that video I've been hooked i never miss a video!!!I always look forward to watching your videos everyday when I get home. I just wanted to say thank you and you're my favorite TH-camr and keep up the good work you've honestly grown so much over the past years the content has gotten 100 times better!!!Watching you videos always put me in a good mood no matter what the video is about.
Also there were no bearing measurements ( no bore gauge, no micrometer). Improper honing , and a poor "valve job" with grinding compound. lol. Water leak test on valves really only says they aren't bent, could still have terrible sealing under pressure. And rolling rings onto the pistons LOL. No proper piston ring plyers. I would not pay for this labor.
The SR20's with the Black silicone sealant was produced in Japan. The SR20's with the Orange silicone sealant was produced in Australia. The Kangaroo emblem could be a marker that it is a SR20 which was produced in Australia.
Awesome video! It was pretty resourceful to pull the valves from the old motor and I was glad to see you lap them on their new seats. Just for clarification: Titanium is an element and is also used to make alloys. Titanium alloys are made by adding small amounts of other metals to the titanium.
You are awesome man, I love your taste in cars/engines and I think you surround yourself with awesome people. Now that I'm learning about engines in my auto tech class I appreciate the videos you make sooo much more. Cheers!
I loved this video, i am a future mechanic so seeing you show all the tools and explaining them the way you did made me laugh valve springs and retainers as a key chain is a great idea to do, also those little things that hold the springs in place are called keepers but I'm glad you're learning!
Use the piston head as an ashtray sell on the site. You can also clean the whole rod cap and piston together, glue to a nice stained piece of wood or something and make a coat rack.
If you, reader, ever try to rebuild an engine please don't copy anything you see on this video. There are so much fuckups that i honestly think that this guys asked "how to build an engine" on Yahoo questions and then started the build.
Wow, kind of a back alley shop.... using a power washer with the parts on the ground is NOT going to get them as clean as they should be. That's just one of a few "backyard" ways they do things.......
Damn that engine is looking good! For the keychain idea soften up any rough edges so it won't tear your pockets, I made one with a piston and conrod from a RC nitro engine and my pocket was destroyed after a week.
Dam watching this and seeing that camaro on the lift made me feel so happy like I was 15 again in mechanics class working on that rust bucket of a firebird dam I really wish I didn't drop out of high school
Got VERY exicted when I seen you were using almost the same exact piston and rod set up I went with. Except I got 86.5mm bore. I also currently have my SR head in the shop being port and polished, along with new bronze guides, BC valve springs and retainers, and BC stainless steel valves.
Does anyone know what song he uses for his intro?
No one tell this guy ^ lol
Adam LZ lmao
AAAAAAAdaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmm
Description you dummy
adam adam adam adam
theres a kangaroo on the sr 20 because nissan did a lot of their machining in aus, they tweeted about it like a week ago saying they put kangaroos on all their parts from aus
The tweet might be bullshit, but the kangaroo on SR parts means they were made in Australia.
It's true, Nissan has a casting location in Melbourne which does certain parts for nissan engines
its legit look twitter.com/NissanMotor/status/826355750620368897
Australian isn't a race...
but t-rex is...
What a great video. Managed to talk in depth about the rebuild while keeping it entertaining. 11/10 would watch again.
+AMBush Drift
AMBush Drift totally agree great video 😃
AMBush Drift I agree! I dig your channel too man
ARAuto 👍🏻👍🏻
This shop looks amature as fuck, motor looks in terrible shape, horribe hack re build sorry man
Apparently in the 80’s and 90’s they used to do alot of aluminium casting of automotive parts down in Melbourne. So it turns out there is a little ADM in JDM!
That's why there is the kangaroo lol
Travis LaRoche this is correct. And you directly quoted something a guy I use to work with wrote years ago.
Travis LaRoche they still cast carts in Australia, after this year they will be the only car manufacturer left here. Their casting plant in Melbourne has the lowest rejects which makes up for the high wages
102nds daily Small world!
Don't feel bad about not getting it done in a day thats a ton of work to do especially when your doing everything correctly! Came together pretty fast tho! Im sure there will be a dyno video in 2 days haha!
MotionAutoTv Not to mention a tired engine builder is no bueno.
If TJ will do this, he'd make 6 videos about it.
Kyle true
Most of these TH-cam car guys Adam tj an other can't do shit they need a mechanic Trevor from motionautotv is the only one that can do all of his own work no help from pro's just himself check our motion auto TV all one word
6 videos about washing it and 13 more talking about it
Also 8 videos of installing it back into the car
Mallory Kennedy check out BoostedBoiz
Does anyone else feel like Adam taked advantage of how nice alberto is?
i mean, he's doing him so many favors and uses so much lf his time. He appears in so many videos and makes so much money off his presence.
You should get alberto a gift
+Saul Liang I pay Alberto...
Adam LZ lmfao this guy. 😂
he pays the man, giving him a job to do. nothing wrong there.
it was a bait to see if adam responded :) relax guys.
Saul Liang you're a dumbass
use the old block and the pistons to make a table.
Top Gear Style!
i was gunna say that lol. it would be cool.
There was a Nissan casting plant in Melbourne, that's probably why the roo is there
chicken dinner
Tazer Swift shibby
Australians love Australia 🙌👌
I know a lot of people are here for BMX stuff, I'm here for car stuff. Loved this video!
Careful with oiling those bolts, you can capture the oil in the bolt hole and hydraulic fracture the casting when you torque them.
Really enjoy these build videos man! Will be one strong SR when done!
I wonder if it’s done now…
Alberto is my new favourite. Replace Nicole for him.
😂😂😂where is your hole😂😂😂
love you too connor ;)
g_ino =(
😂👍🏼 yes
he should do it XD
Adam, the pistons would make cool trophies. When you get together with a few friends award one to whoever did best that day.
Listening to Alberto talk while building an engine is like meditation
Love looking back into some of these videos. Crazy how far you’ve come Adam!
17:00 Adam blames the SR and 2J for draining his wallet 😂😂😂😂😂 nevermind my backyard is now a bicycle ramp!
clint Miller lol he plannned for that expense and it was like two months ago.
Adam has more expense's then anyone i know
sucks to not have enough money for one of your 10 hobbies.
Justin Walters new rims were most likely given to him for free. Since when he first got them he talked about the brand and how much he liked them and a link to their site in the description.
I have to say adam, behind Nicole, alberto is my favorite person on your channel
USE THE PISTONS AS TROPHIES FOR AN LZBMX EVENT?!
Mr BW Or he can make his own drift event and use the pistons for trophies
_Mandicor _ he can make... the piston cup!
That keyring idea sounds unreal, would definitely like one
Really I have spark plug keychain as well (Mk2 escort)
Sick
But would you buy it for $10? He is selling them, not giving them away
Vax Buster There's sixteen of them and he's selling them as a way to put relief on the parts purchases he's already made. Of the over one million subscribers only 16 people are going to get them so I highly doubt they'll only be $10.
Keep in mind they used to sell a lock of Bert's hair for $300
I'd definitely have one of those keychains! Cool idea :)
Nike1600 ayee love your channel
άσε τώρα τα ψέματα εσύ! 😂
Nike1600 nice to see you here :)
I want one too!
Nike1600 ayyy love your videos man
awesome I'm stoked to see it run again. Alberto knows his shit and seems mad chill!
Dude I love how he explains everything down to a technical level
This guy knows his work not like other who knows how to repair a chair and think they are mechanik respect!
alberto is to adam as chow is to orion
MattHybels aye haggard garage fan!
MattHybels chow doesn't do shit thoo
whaaaaat chow doesn't know shit 😂 he didn't even install his own coils
MattHybels which one is the rapist?
s K dylan, chow is the confused japanese kid with the saturn and 240
Kangaroo on SR represents Connecting rod jumping out of block
3:07 why did everyone look at her 😂 "tf you doing here"
Aldo Lizalde Yh I actually did😂
Aldo Lizalde I laughed so hard when I saw that then I went to the comments to see if anyone else saw it
Alberto is so smart, these videos are so entertaining yet at the same time you learn so much. Super sweet.
One of my favorite videos you've done! Don't forget to pump the shop for all the help they are giving you! Seems like a great crew!
5:50 titanium is not an alloy, it is an element. However, the retainers you used are made out of titanium alloy, which is an alloy that is mostly titanium. Common, it's not that difficult ;)
EpicSteam Overclock Alright too good shoes...
EpicSteam Overclock - Cringe
The 90's Also, why doesn't anyone know how to put the shelves in? (I believe that they called them crank bearings)
The 90's
Ti6Al4V (Grade 5)
Titanium is an element, not an alloy.
Michael Rawlins when chemistry is life :)
Thank you very much. I was like wtf is he saying.
Michael Rawlins they are made out of ti-17 titanium alloy..
Point still stands. Ti is an element. lol
DjAaronRussell well then it isn't titanium...
Alberto seems like such a nice and down to earth guy (and he knows a lot about engines)!
that trick with the lifters was awesome. I learned something, my day is complete.
Alberto seems like such a nice guy. :)
Alberto is so OG
OMG I'm so hyped by this intro
I don't know about you guys but after I get a steady job with decent pay, the money for leisure will definitely be spent on doing stuff like this. It's one of the only things that I've been wanting to have in my future for a few years now.
It's always enjoyable and painful to see people doing stuff like this. Painful because of the waiting part(still studying full time). Enjoyable because it feeds my desire to have it in the future and always a good thing to see people enjoy doing it.
Alberto defiantly knows how to properly build an engine!
FloridasFinest
yeah, alberto really knows his shit. are you kidding me?
No not really hes making bunch of small mistakes
Like honing the cylinders without oil
i love these kind of videos at the shops
Last time I was this early Adam was still single.
That intro scared me. Also, im a simple man, i see BigBoost, i like.
Great vid keep it up
wow as you pulled away in the mini the lighting made it look like one exhaust tip
I'd totally get an SR valve spring keychain!
Make the SR20 key rings
Me too!
Now I understand why you guys don't understand what real engine building consists of. I wouldn't have done anything with a head with even one bent valve. I'd be replacing the guides.
Good job guys! So good to see people working toghetter on a project!
Watching videos like this makes me realize how little I really know about cars.
Use the other SR20 to make a Engine Coffee Table :D
No SRs for coffee tables. I need my table to be reliable.
Adam LZ best thing I've heard all weak
you have me weak by spelling week wrong
No4hOG Aha didnt even realise 😂😂
Lachy Waters lol I figured just had to say it haha
Alberto needs a channel on building cars asap
make a pistoncup trophy!
Alberto is actually unbelievably smart, he knows just a little bit too much
Hey adam I've been subscribed for just over 3 years the first video I saw was "webisod 10 : lens hit " and ever since that video I've been hooked i never miss a video!!!I always look forward to watching your videos everyday when I get home. I just wanted to say thank you and you're my favorite TH-camr and keep up the good work you've honestly grown so much over the past years the content has gotten 100 times better!!!Watching you videos always put me in a good mood no matter what the video is about.
Make the old pistons and rods into a coat hanger.
buy alberto some c clip pliers before he builds your 2j
Jack Truitt I was thinking the same fucking thing. a snap on torque wrench but not c clamp pliers?
Deven Nicholson those aren't c clips they don't have holes in the end
Dale Dickens that's a sr20
+Andrew Herrera your dumb.. Read before you comment.
Lol at the way Roberto honed the cylinders
Aaryn Hackney alberto
The SR20's with the Black silicone sealant was produced in Japan. The SR20's with the Orange silicone sealant was produced in Australia. The Kangaroo emblem could be a marker that it is a SR20 which was produced in Australia.
that guy with the monster drift car and the awesome laugh makes me feel warm inside
I love the shirt "Eat, Sleep, Drift, Crash, Cry, Drink...Alot" xD
Make shifters out of the pistons and rods, or a brake handle.
Do the keychain thing. I won't buy one but other people probably will for around $20. That's $15 profit that's $240 profit from springs.
Jacob Falk Something tells me that 240$ are nothing for Adam..
exactly
People need an Alberto in their life.
please do more of these engine rebuild videos, they're great.
What solvent/degreaser did you use to clean the engine parts at the beginning with the waterblaster?
Me too would like to see this replied
And in Forza, I just push a button...
Redteku and we miss out all the fun of building an engine unfortunately.
Before I started school at a young age i was doing this with my dad
Adam, Nicole's passenger side tail light is out on her mini.
I think its just the angle
I mean headlight
Adam LZ are u still putting in the 2jz
Gotta love how fun and easy sr's are to work on
Awesome video! It was pretty resourceful to pull the valves from the old motor and I was glad to see you lap them on their new seats.
Just for clarification: Titanium is an element and is also used to make alloys. Titanium alloys are made by adding small amounts of other metals to the titanium.
put a stand on the piston and make it the piston cup from cars
make piston cups like in the cars movie
Who else loves the new intro?
Its cool but I dont really like that style of dubstep.
I really dig this vlog watching Alberto do the engine was sick
for some with little engine knowledge, i found this really interesting to watch and like I learnt a little more, thanks :D
1000 degree engine vs 240 1:05
make the rubbish engine into a coffee table bro
Use your pistons and connecting rods as legs for a coffee table!
You are awesome man, I love your taste in cars/engines and I think you surround yourself with awesome people. Now that I'm learning about engines in my auto tech class I appreciate the videos you make sooo much more. Cheers!
This is my favorite car channel on youtube right now. #BIGBOOST !
Nissan basically had its parts machined in Australia that's all
A lot of the good bits that nissan used in its high powered engines were made in Australia.
*FLIP YOUR PHONE UPSIDE DOWN AND READ THE TEXT BELOW*
*sapnu puas*
FaZe Drake where do I send them to???
Snapchat @Tsanford68 XD Kidding but add me if you want
Tyler Sanford damn u guud
Corey Mehalik do it
Wassup early ganggg
Alberto the only real car guy in these videos.
I loved this video, i am a future mechanic so seeing you show all the tools and explaining them the way you did made me laugh valve springs and retainers as a key chain is a great idea to do, also those little things that hold the springs in place are called keepers but I'm glad you're learning!
The mechanic sounds like the "I was about to bone my gf but she said there was no way" guy from family guy
Fuck dat! Where's the 2J?
oFiGuReZo 2j won't be ready for another month.
Jonathan Yung :(
6 months*
Why do you always film so close Albertos face :D He is a beatiful man, but still you could move like 15 inches backwards! :D
He's soft spoken and its a loud shop
Thats true, sry :(
Adam LZ you should make the springs a key chain accessory. I'd buy one .
Use the piston head as an ashtray sell on the site. You can also clean the whole rod cap and piston together, glue to a nice stained piece of wood or something and make a coat rack.
I genuinely LOVE these kind of videos. I lovebuilding cars, but these days can't afford to.
If you, reader, ever try to rebuild an engine please don't copy anything you see on this video. There are so much fuckups that i honestly think that this guys asked "how to build an engine" on Yahoo questions and then started the build.
Could you please elaborate on this please?
First thought could be the use of rtv silicone, what others?
Dry cylinder honing, not decking the head or block, didn't measure bores and match pistons, reused mains bolts
Never been this early 💦💦💦
Eddie Vasquez same
Eddie Vasquez same
same
Wow, kind of a back alley shop....
using a power washer with the parts on the ground is NOT going to get them as clean as they should be.
That's just one of a few "backyard" ways they do things.......
Adam, i low key watch your videos for Alberto.
Damn that engine is looking good! For the keychain idea soften up any rough edges so it won't tear your pockets, I made one with a piston and conrod from a RC nitro engine and my pocket was destroyed after a week.
An engine shop that uses it's front yard to degrease/clean engines is environmentally negligent. That water will likely contaminate waterways.
OMG lol STFU u little bitch wow
Dam watching this and seeing that camaro on the lift made me feel so happy like I was 15 again in mechanics class working on that rust bucket of a firebird dam I really wish I didn't drop out of high school
so fun your clip, really enjoy drinking some beer then watching your VDO
Love those snap on toque wrenches so accurate
Got VERY exicted when I seen you were using almost the same exact piston and rod set up I went with. Except I got 86.5mm bore. I also currently have my SR head in the shop being port and polished, along with new bronze guides, BC valve springs and retainers, and BC stainless steel valves.
