Meet the grahams is what did it for me I have never heard a rapper get picked apart in detail in the most respectful way and get disrespected in the worst way possible at the same time😂 basically don’t fuck with a artist who won Pulitzer award
They're right about the Drake switch up. Over the course of a week, he went from don't wake the demon, to I'm going on vacation, to nuh uh leave me alone.
The problem with comparing MJ and Prince to Kdot and Drake is that both MJ and Prince were artist. MJ wasn’t just a singer and dancer he wrote songs layered his own backgrounds, learned to make his voice a true instrument, created captivating magic on top of being a humanitarian on a level of his own…. Drake is a character Aubrey help create….i don’t see drakes level of art worth being compared to MJ at all…
I agree with this. Comparing Drake to MJ beyond numbers doesn't feel respectful to MJ. No matter how many other similarities in the relation between Drake and Kendrick, MJ was a respected genuine artist. Drake is an artist that warrants little respect in light of the web of lies that exist around said talent.
I get what y’all are saying but the comparison makes perfect sense to the average music listener, bc most people don’t know any of what you just explained. Most music listeners are casuals. The metaphor at its base is just saying MJ is the bigger popstar while Prince is a little more dialed into the arts, _from the outside looking in,_ as in, to most people. No matter how small of an artistic gap you think there is between the two, one of them is more well known for being the biggest entertainer and the other one is known for being the more artsy one, and way more calculated with anything to do with art. If you’re not even a fan of both Drake and Kendrick’s music, you can’t even really say the comparison doesn’t make sense, because it automatically doesn’t work if you’re biased against Drake as an artist. That’s because there are literally countless examples in Drakes 15+ year catalog that show he can do almost anything Kendrick can, it’s just more spaced out and it’s not his main focus because he has to balance the compromise of being an entertainer first. Dismissing Drake’s entire catalog as if he has shown no signs of high level artistry basically forfeits your opinion on this topic even holding any weight. There’s also the fact that Kendrick has literally compared himself to Prince in multiple songs spanning multiple years, and Drake has compared himself to MJ in multiple songs for multiple years. That makes the comparison make even more sense bc it’s not something the fans made up, the actual people being compared are the ones who brought the comparisons up, and it wasn’t even because of this beef originally. The comparison only doesn’t make sense if you’re trying too hard to be literal, or if you’re too ignorant of Drake proving he’s an artist. Nobody said “MJ was just a singer and dancer”, the comparison isn’t to bash MJ the way ppl bash Drake. The comparison is to show one is universally known for his numbers and entertainment factor, whether he was an amazing artist or not, and the other is universally known to have way more focus on the artistic side, while pulling lower numbers and being less popular as a whole.
@@BrotherMalMusic I agree with what you are saying to a degree… MJ became the blue print for every pop star that followed. Yes Drake compared himself to MJ because of numbers and you can’t deny that reality… but does anyone think Drake has captivated the world to that degree. That every rapper after him will imitate his dance moves, style, production, etc etc… I agree most people are casual listeners which is to say ignorant meaning uneducated and choose to stay as such…. So superficially the comparison makes sense Where you lost me is when you say Drake has shown he can do what kdot can without acknowledging kdot is a Pulitzer Prize winner…. Find me the Drake album that was as culturally, artistically, personally open and impactful to peoples state of mind as PAB heck even Mr Morale/ Big Steppers… you can’t because Drake the character has shown he will always choose a dollar over his art, over his message, over his humanity over anything
@@mzhappyfree7688 You misquoted me to prove your point so I didn’t lose you. I said Drake has shown he can do _almost_ everything Kendrick can do. That _almost_ was a very intentional word with the purpose of you not being able to play the angle you still played by leaving that word out. Kendrick has been my favorite rapper since late middle school and I’m pushing 30 now, so you don’t have to persuade me of anything about his works or artistry. Imo a Pulitzer Prize is not an argument for why he’s better than anyone. Without the award his body of work would be the exact same and that’s what you’re highlighting. Awards are superficial in the grand scheme of things, at least for this topic. It’s also contradicting bc if you wanna talk awards, then we’re talking accolades and you can’t just stop at Pulitzer, or put it on a higher rank of an award than other ones to move the goal post. You would have to talk awards in general, and I’m almost sure Drake has more, so that point falls apart. No, Drake doesn’t have an album as conceptual or artistically layered as _TPAB_ or _MMATBS._ Neither do a majority of the _”legends”_ that came before Kendrick, but most hip hop fans would still put most of those artists before Kendrick as better. You believing Drake doesn’t have a better album has nothing to do with my point which is that Drake has proven on multiple occasions he can make high level art when he wants. And if we’re going by the argument of who can do what the other can’t, there are plenty of things Drake does that Kendrick wouldn’t have the same success doing if he tried. Tbr it seems like you’re biased against Drake so we’ll probably never agree on this part anyway, but I’ve been listening to both of them since the front end of their careers so when people try to discredit / dismiss Drake’s entire artistic value as a whole, it just seems forced. Dude probably has put out more music than Kendrick and J Cole combined, and not all of it is mindless pop hits, there’s plenty of substance if you look or if you were there for it when it dropped. It’s just not all packaged so conceptually and neatly and intentionally as Kendrick, and it’s not as consistent either, but it’s there. Years worth of it. I respect your stance though and I get why you would have it. Again, Kendrick has been my favorite rapper for well over a decade so I feel everything you’re saying about him. The narrative that Drake is not on Kendrick’s level is valid, and provable lol. But when you get into dismissing his artistic value in full, I just think it comes off as try-hard and not actually being as familiar with Drake’s catalog as Kendrick’s, but that’s just my opinion.
Shoot Kendrick deserves to be the first PEGOT. He already has the Pulitzer and 17 grammys (hopefully an 18th for either Euphoria or Not like us). Give him the Oscar, the Emmy and the Tony!
Kendrick won this battle off of skill. It don’t matter if he had ever brought up the pedal thing he still would’ve beat Drake because he’s a real rapper he wrapped Drake he didn’t just bring up the pedal thing. He could’ve just brought Drake’s character in as far as being a culture vulture in the music, and he would still want dissected as a rapper. And to be inadequate, it still would’ve come out that Drake don’t write his own raps to use Future and the Atlanta rappers . at the end of the day, the results would have been the same. He was always gonna lose because he was never on Kendrick’s level. Y’all gave him more way more credit than he ever deserved.
My opiny is the colonizer verse is the death blow because it cannot be contested. To compare Michael and Drake is crazy to me. Michael is home grown, anybody happen to remember the Jackson 5 and Motown? Michael was indeed artist and cultural.
Everyone keeps saying "Meet The Grahams" is the best from Kendrick during this beef. I think "Euphoria" is a better diss track than MTG. Euphoria just gives me an updated "Hail Mary" vibe, especially when that bell keeps ringing in the background like it's a funeral.
I loved how Emanny broke down the Prince vs MJ narrative in liking to the Kendrick vs Drake beef. I grew up in Kyoto Japan & born into a jazz family who played instruments & listened to great musicians. So when i heard Prince as a kid it spoke to me deeply. I've always been more of a Prince & Kdot fan for that exact same reason. I was born in 99 so the MJ VS Prince debate never really grabbed me, even tho i love MJ too, don't get me wrong. Prince just spoke to me more lyrically & musically & Prince was doing what MJ was doing but with his instruments. Not counting Prince was an incredible rapper, egnineer, producer, multi instumentalist, dancer but i'm never upset if someone prefers MJ. Just like i've always had fun debates about Drake vs Kdot but was never upset that someone chose Drake. They're totally different artists but absolute geniueses of artists with different approaches to creating art and music. Prince created beautiful instrumental piano music, meditation music, just in the same way as Kdot creating "therapy" music like "Mother i sober". That's the kind of music that speaks to me but these debates will go on forever lol. No different than Taylor Swift vs Beyonce, 2Pac vs Biggie, Nas vs Jay z, Rolling stones vs The Beatles. Etc etc. I can care less how many views or sales an artists has. It will never make the better music. If that's the case Justin Bieber is almost better than everybody lol
Honestly, it probably has more to do with the fact that they are diametrically opposite to each other. While Drake did have a hand in bringing Kdot to the forefront, Kendrick's presentation has always been the polar opposite of Drake's. People compare these two to MJ and Prince because of this common thread. Drake and MJ represent a polished pop-friendly sound that's easily digested by the masses (and subsequently makes them wildly popular). Kendrick and Prince represent a deep and nuanced sound that requires a listener to slowly savor each bit of music presented. Their level of popularity is not as high, nor do they strive to achieve those levels on purpose. This isn't to say that one viewpoint is wrong or right. Far from it. But it is important that people understand that one viewpoint cannot and should not overtake the other. They need to remain in balance. Prince and Michael Jackson coexisted peacefully because they understood that balance. Kendrick and Drake are establishing their balance now. They will never like each other on a personal or professional level. But they will build and maintain this generation's balance between light surface-level music and deep, thought-provoking music.
Wouldn't be surprised if he cried at home smh would he be this sad if his child was being bullied at sch or a man slap his wife on the street the man looks like his 🍆 died
I swear Ish wants to be Drake's woman so bad lmbo. If Drake had accused Kendrick of pedo behavior, nobody would believe it. Why not? Because there's no reason to. But Drake has BEEN a creep.
I can’t with this Canadian, I was still rocking some of his music still, but after today Drake is no longer on any of my playlists. Sorry Drakie Vanillie!!!!
Bad comparison because Michael Jackson and Prince are geniuses and true artists. Drake is simply a 2nd rate entertainer who mimics others without an original bone in his body.
Kendrick is a glimpse of what hip hop USED to be. Where lyricism ran supreme and where artistic creativity was how you became famous. Drake represents EVERYTHING wrong with hip hop today. Where ‘faking it til you made it’ is the fastest way to the top. And having standards, morality, and artistry is laughed at. Look at the type of “artist” Drake puts on. Drake had no chance to win, but that’s not an excuse for his fans to hide behind. He was too cocky (pun intended) and thought that no one could challenge him. Fatal mistake. 😆
No it wasn’t. If you not guilty don’t try to get in front of it Drake got out rapped. That’s it that’s the facts Every song Kendrick made sound different and he sliced Drake character up like diced tomatoes You called him out, told him we waiting on you, nah follow thru this time and wanna wave the white flag when dude come outside to fight and beat you up. L
Drake is having a midlife crisis. He's about to be 40 soon and we all know its over for him. He wants to stay young forever. He better start selling roses in the club instead of hanging out in it 😆
14:26 with the Ai stuff I thought it was clever; but being from Cali I didn’t like it. That played out worse than I thought for Drake as well as mentioning KDot’s wife. Never mention someone’s family, and those ended being Drake’s biggest mistakes to start
1:40 You can't put Drake or Kendrick next to Prince, who was a multi-instrumentalist, a vocalist, a real artistic activist who exposed the music industry and didn't take shit from anybody.
This idea that Drake makes better sounding music is a lie too. K Dot could go hit for hit. And just the instrumentals of his albums are better than any drake album’s beat selections
Naw, Kenny got some hits, but if that were true, where is he played constantly? Not randomly, constantly? Drake has a far more versatile catalog than Kenny.
@@tyestancil2783 bro, pick any white rapper and they’re going to have a numbers boost. People were actually saying Adele was the best singer in the world. Humble, DNA, Loyalty and Love were played EVERYWHERE. Dafuq you talking about? Talk about Dack Harlow some more.
At the end of the day Hip Hop battles at it's core is about lyrics. Drake tried to change the rules of engagement. You can't use A.I. voices, streamers, and meme your way to a rap battle victory. Save that cute stuff for singles not a rap battle.

Is Ish stupid or something? Did he say Meet the Grahams was mid? He reminds me of that guy from Leaving Los Vegas, Ryan. He said Kendrick sounds like an abused spouse on Euphoria I believe, and Drake shouldn't respond. I'm like what, this man is assassinating this man's very being and you're saying he shouldn't respond?? Even if you think Meet the Grahams was mid it was still the most disrespectful shit in all of the battle. It don't make any sense at this point with some of these so called reactors.

I completely disagree with the guy in all white- commenting on how Kendrick’s track “hit like medium” in my opinion. I’ve heard drakes music my whole life, and only connected to the popularity of it in a sense. Though, on the other hand; Drake’s music never spoke to me on a deeper level, hence why I was never a true fan of his music. I could vibe to the sort of “catchy-ness” aspects of them, but never truly snap my fingers to. This is all during times I wasn’t even aware of Kendrick’s music, nor was I even introduced to his music, name, and artistry as a rapper/musician. It was until I heard his diss tracks that opened up an entire Pandora’s box for me. Kendrick’s side of the diss battle was enough for me to be like “Damn, this guy is poetically powerful.” His style is so unique in a way that instantly grabbed my attention. Versus Drakes music, to where it took me a couple of “listens” and cultural influences around me to be like “alright, it’s catchy and people make it lit. I can vibe to it no problem.” Basically my point is, I completely disagree that Kendrick’s craft is “medium” I believe it is powerful and real on a deep level. I mean c’mon the subliminal messages both verbally-to be imagined/pictured- AND visually. You can’t tell me that’s “medium” 😭❣️

They will never like each other on a personal or professional level. But they will build and maintain this generation's balance between light surface-level music and deep, thought-provoking music.
@@latonyajefferson9699drake never had a hand in anything kdot as done
take this paragraph and go about your way
Wouldn't be surprised if he cried at home smh would he be this sad if his child was being bullied at sch or a man slap his wife on the street the man looks like his 🍆 died
Being fake ass rapper.
He acts like he's on the payroll
They need to put up signs banning Drizzler’s from high school games. 😂😂
He IS ya mans, Ish! You glazing so hard you're about to bust a blood vessel with all that yelling. 😂
Stopped at the best part, “what kind of sleeping pills the demon taking
Haha. Best part 😂
Ish wasn’t saying that Drake already lost when his ass was quietly smiling when push ups and Taylor made freestyle came out.
He is a Drake guy
Kendrick gave Drake a " Determine your own adventure" book. Drake took the wrong path.
4 songs of tea? Wtf is Ish talking about
I don't know if Drake actually did that stuff. But ever since those kendrick tracks, I've been looking at him different.
lol
I swear Ish wants to be Drake's woman so bad lmbo. If Drake had accused Kendrick of pedo behavior, nobody would believe it. Why not? Because there's no reason to. But Drake has BEEN a creep.
Ish smh Drake should’ve never woke up the bear
I need Ish to give lessons on how to give top! He got skills that some women could rule the world if they learn from him. 🤣🤣🤣
I can’t with this Canadian, I was still rocking some of his music still, but after today Drake is no longer on any of my playlists. Sorry Drakie Vanillie!!!!
Ish the biggest hater omg
he dnt understand hip hop idk why he there
I don't like to say this, but seems like a payroll situation or drake has something on him, like he does on aks.... It's very weird 😢 à bit disgusting
Ish is compromised he’s definitely getting paid
Bad comparison because Michael Jackson and Prince are geniuses and true artists. Drake is simply a 2nd rate entertainer who mimics others without an original bone in his body.
Drake is just a more successful version of Logic
Drake brought the tea first when he said Kendrick baby belongs to his homie.
If you not guilty don’t try to get in front of it
Drake got out rapped. That’s it that’s the facts
Every song Kendrick made sound different and he sliced Drake character up like diced tomatoes
You called him out, told him we waiting on you, nah follow thru this time and wanna wave the white flag when dude come outside to fight and beat you up.
If he wasn't Drake, immediate public threats would have been made on his life. But since he's a colonizer, eyes are watching.
@@vGEMZv I wouldn’t doubt that at all, plus he mentioned gang bangin like it’s a joke; but like you said, he’s lucky he’s Drake
The A.I and the egging on Kendrick with the nah nah nah talk was all brilliant right up until it turned into you got this shit burnt out fr
Drake vid leak is definitely true. Google.
OMG
Yes he did leak a video of his package
@@JuanitaEttienne I guess Kendrick Had a full track about it in waiting
It was obvious 😂
@@Followitthroughur late lol Kendrick been spoke on it
1:40 You can't put Drake or Kendrick next to Prince, who was a multi-instrumentalist, a vocalist, a real artistic activist who exposed the music industry and didn't take shit from anybody.
Eminem has throw away tracks with 100M views. Miss me with the sales charts. Kendrick gave yall the club album with DAMN and it killed Drake’s album at that time.
The Prince vs Mike comparison is not fair to Mike because Mike range was incredible compared to Drakes one or two styles
Joe and his crew have distinguished themselves during this battle. I was never fan, I am now. Great job.
Pssss! I see a Drake glazer
It’s just so weird hearing grown men say tea.
So Busta Rhymes can get on the track and go Yah yah yah , wooha I got you all in check and roar roar like a dungeon dragon but Kendrick droppin’ 💣 as adlibs isn’t rappin’ ?
Kendrick represents a positive more expected evolution of hip hop to us ole skool heads. Drake represents every disgrace of a clearly decent emcee who broke all the rules of hip hop culture. He’s a bitter, he has ghosts writers, and has no credibility.
Ish basically saying family matters was better than meet the grahams but it didn’t matter no one cares
That one dude getting so butthurt 🤣
This cast perfectly represents the fans
Ice & Emanny are the music consumers that dont have a bias but just take the music in & being objective.
Mel is the women who dont really have a clue of whats going on but watch & mostly lets the masses determine who won
Ish is the Drake fans whos gonna be bias because he’s a fan of his music
Park is the Kendrick fans who loves everything kendrick does & he can do no wrong
Joe is the drake haters who really doesn’t like drake & wants him to lose in any way so he link up with the kendrick fans (Parks) & they agree on everything & end up dominate the conversation because they make up a big part of it
lol 😂
Yes, Drake did. I promise he did and the girls went crazy. I'm too grown to even want to watch the crap.
MJ + Prince analogy was silly.
It makes perfect sense.
@@opinionladyynot at all
Family matters was not that great - only glazers thought it was better than grahams…Disses are meant to hurt not make you dance..
I could not name 3 songs by Prince or Drake. To me, Michael and Kendrick are above and beyond.
Thanks for the video. I agree it was a good breakdown of the beef
Meet The Grahams= Death
Is Ish stupid or something? Did he say Meet the Grahams was mid? He reminds me of that guy from Leaving Los Vegas, Ryan. He said Kendrick sounds like an abused spouse on Euphoria I believe, and Drake shouldn't respond. I'm like what, this man is assassinating this man's very being and you're saying he shouldn't respond?? Even if you think Meet the Grahams was mid it was still the most disrespectful shit in all of the battle. It don't make any sense at this point with some of these so called reactors.
8:05 drake did indeed do that..let me edit this idk if he leaked but yea a video did leak of him doing that
Best JBP n a min....🙌🏽🙌🏽💪🏽💪🏽🎯🎯🎯🎯💯
He only hears what he wanna hear
Emanny was spitting facts!
I agree with Emanny
Implying that Prince was a real artist, and Michael Jackson was just a simple performer, is straight blasphemy.
What episode of the joe budden podcast is this from
PSA RELOADED is by far the best break down of this beef!! Listen if haven’t!!
Can you imagine Budden when he fights with his girl?
I love how all of these hyper masculine men have adopted the word "tea" in a particular context. 😂😂😂 . I love our lingo...IYKYK💜
I love your accent, where's it from?
FACTS
Why is Ish on a music podcast when he don’t know nothing about music industry or music. Can Joe replace him with Emanny who know what he talking about.
Drake's ones didnt have the same technique, delivery weight whatever.
YES, BRO!!
Jeepers why is that dude so butt hurt about it?
He's deep in love. Go find the part where they're listening to Not Like Us. He fought with all his might not to bop to it and claimed it was mid. Even said he didn't like the Mustard beat
Flip gotta shut up
Yes Drake did that! Honestly he did, Joe Budden said he admitted he did it on purpose. Drake is a very sick man!
Do not forget Kendra Lamar performed with prince but never perform with Michael
7:53 yes it’s true ….he even appeared on Aiden Ross live stream for a phone call to talk about it🤢
